I was on a mission. I had to buy cake for the bf to celebrate. But generally we don’t like to buy huge cakes as we’re notorious to eating it all in one sitting. So to curb that bad habit, I decided to find a place with cake slices so I can get a couple. So Amia Bakery was a spot that I’ve thinking about trying for a while as they have a guava mango cake. I miss Vienna Bakery’s Passionfruit Guava cake so much, so this was my hope to at least have a secondary spot. It doesn’t meet to that cake, as it’s different. I’m torn between a 3 or 4 stars, but I’ll tip it over to 4 as the slices of cake we had were large and moist for the most part. Amia is located in Fremont Hub right next to Coldstone Creamery. There’s a lot of parking as it’s a closed lot for the shopping center. When you walk inside you’re walking into a bakery. There are a few spots to sit, but I don’t think it’s one of those places to hang out as it might be a bit awkward. They have cases for drinks and a few cases displaying full sized cakes and slices as well as cupcakes. I wish there were more signs on the different nongluten, vegan, etc. cakes as they don’t show what each is. They do have labels on the normal cakes. Also they don’t have prices, so you have to ask. Each of the cake slices were around $ 4.50. I bought a slice of the guava mango and the opera cake. They’re fairly hefty cakes especially the opera cake so you’re getting a pretty good bang for your buck for that slice. I was a little suspect to the moistness of the cake, but it was only until we took a bite that I was relieved. They both were quite moist and delicious. The guava and mango were both present and the white cake was definitely a lighter taste to the opera cake which was primarily chocolate. I was surprised how nicely balanced the opera cake was as it looked like it may not be a good ratio of cake to buttercream. They proved me wrong! Well unfortunately the moistness stopped at the other end of the opera cake. The cake was dry and over done but at least 98% of it was awesome. Overall I would probably come back to try other cakes. I’m also very curious about their princess cake, but I guess that might be a special order which they do special order cakes of different sizes. You can call them or ask more about it. Glad to have another cake option in the area.

I’m not sure why I’ve never written a review for this place! Ive seriously ordered every cake for the last 5 years from here. And every cake I’ve ever ordered from here has been delicious. The last cake I ordered was a Peppa the Pig cake for our daughter’s 2nd birthday. And it was beautiful. I generally go with red velvet from here, but this time I ordered chocolate strawberry. The cake itself was super moist and the strawberries tasted really fresh. If you’re hesitant on what cake to order, go with the red velvet. It won’t disappoint. I just saw that the banana cupcake is now available in cake form! That will be my next order!

i ordered egg less mango cake for my daughters b’day after reading review on Unilocal.I went there and selected one for pictures they showed us. And I told them for 12 people. 1. Picture shown was rectangle where as they made round cake. So my daughter was not happy 2. It was mango moose flavor, but there was no mango taste at all. 3. It was loafy cake that you don’t feel like ca cake at all. Not happy with quality at all for small $ 50 cake

Have been ordering cakes from Amia since last 6 years and will continue to do so. I should say I generally order the fondant ones with really intricate details and they have always exceeded my expectations. My recent one was a Tinkerbell cake and it was really amazing. My original design was made even better by adding a variety of flowers and bees and various colored mushrooms. The taste was awesome as well. I should say, our cakes are almost always wiped out with no leftovers. Highly recommended.

Ordered a customized superminion cake here. Highly recommend! Super affordable and easy communication(all by email). I emailed them for a quote about 2 weeks before the day I needed the cake and they responded promptly within 12 hours. I sent photos of 3 different designs asking for the approximate price of each. Their prices are almost half of what all the other bakeries quoted! I was pleasantly surprised :) I chose bottom half opera cake and top half banana chocolate cake. The cakes themselves were not bad. Not the best(I’m really picky about my cakes! I like those overpriced gourmet places like Jean Philippe Patisserie, b. Patisserie, Satura Cakes, Lady M: P), but I also didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars for a birthday cake, so this was decent enough. Better tasting than another customized cake I got elsewhere last time. Not too sweet. I took off most of the cream/fondant since I don’t like those, but the cake was nice & moist. The banana chocolate cake has pieces of banana inside. Loved how they allowed 2 different cake flavors and those special flavors(rather than just plain vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, etc) even for a minion cake! After a couple emails back and forth, I was able to finalize the order and details with Anh. His responses were always super quick & straightforward. They didn’t even ask for any sort of down payment which I thought was odd, almost in disbelief(wow they really trust their customers huh!!). The cake turned out pretty much exactly like the photo I sent them! Very satisfied. Made my birthday boy happy :) So I am happy :) PS. When u order, they ask you for pick-up time. I wrote 2pm as just a guess when I would be free that day. I tried to pick the cake up at 11am, and was told it wasn’t ready(not their fault), so don’t assume the cake is ready like me even if it’s only a few hours early!

Got a customized cake for a friend. She copied the exact same design. The flavor was red velvet. And tasted amazing. You definitely need to try Amia bakery. She was very easy to get in touch and cater to my needs.

Found this gem with the help of Unilocal when my friend and I were scrambling last minute to get a birthday cake for our friend’s birthday. Came around dinnertime and there was no line. We chose a guava mango mousse cake. Their bakers were gone for the day so they had no one on spot to add writing to the cake; however, they allowed us to write on the cake ourselves! What a unique experience! Of course we didn’t do a great job but it made for a special, one-of-a-kind cake for our friend. The cake itself was fabulous! I was worried it would be too sweet but the cake wasn’t very sweet at all. The guava flavor came out stronger than the mango. It had a light, fluffy texture and the cake was spongelike. I know for sure I will be back again for cakes in the future. Thank you Unilocal for helping me find this place!

Upgrading Amia to 4 stars. I don’t go into the bakery for pastries or food but I do order cakes from them for birthdays. The process is super easy. I send an email to Anh with details of my cake order, I usually send a picture of what i want, she replies the same day with how much it’ll cost, then I confirm and that’s it! You pay when you pick up the cake so there’s no need to give your credit card info over the phone. Could not be easier. I always get compliments on how good their cakes are. My current favorite is their red velvet. Yum!

We worked with Ann for baby shower cake and he did an excellent job on it. We only had email communications, had never met him and the cake was prepared beyond our expectations. Our guests loved the German choc flavor and was a big hit. Fondant was yummy and can actually eat fondant. Cake was moist and not too sweet either. It was perfect!

I’ve enjoyed several delicious(huge!) sandwiches here and I appreciate the quality of the ingredients they use. I also ordered a tres leches birthday cake and they were able to make it same day! Tres leches can sometimes be overly sweet, but this one was perfectly light, not too sweet, and sooooo good!!! I will continue coming here for quick meals and for special occasions! It’s perfect for both!

So, last minute cake order a day and a half before the birthday. They not only delivered the cake on time it also wowed the audience and especially the birthday girl with beautiful Harry Potter book-shaped cake! Amazing service and superb cake shop!

Do you know how hard it is to find a bakery that makes vegan desserts? Thanks to Unilocal,I was able to find Amia and their lovely mini cakes. I didn’t order it for myself so I can’t say it tasted yummy but it sure looked pretty! They have a chocolate raspberry, mango mousse, carrot cake, and one last one that had coconut on top but it was not listed. The regular mango mousse slice was really good! I liked that the bottom layer was soaked in something yummy which helped make it moist The texture reminded me of tres leches cake but it wasn’t milky. Has this place been around for a while? It looks like it inside. I’ll have to update when I hear about how the vegan desserts tasted.

I was looking to build an extremely detailed purple Lexus GS car cake for my significant other. I ordered the cake last minute(about a week and a half in advance) and all the bakeries declined my order.(HEHE.) After calling 24 bakeries in San Jose, Santa Clara, Hayward, and Fremont, I found Amia Bakery who still offered to make my cake! I worked with Anh through email. He was very fast in reply and really respectful about everything i wanted. After about 5 emails back and forth with photos and details, he started on my cake and all i needed to do was pick it up a week later at 3 pm. Easy enough! On the day of, he calls to tell me that the cake would be delayed(2 and half hours). It did interfere with my dinner plans with the cake so minus one star, however he did say he could deliver it. I then agreed that if he sent me a photo of the cake so at least i knew the outcome before it arrived at the dinner and let me know when he would be on his way, that should be okay. However, I didn’t get a phone call until 10 minutes beforehand and instead, I was already at the bakery ready to pick it up instead. I got a phone call from the bakery, telling me he was already at the delivery address i gave him, when I thought it was a better idea to just postpone the dinner to later and actually pick up the cake. Bad communication, he did come back to the bakery and I picked it up there again. The cake turned out pretttttty awesome! It did melt a little, but overall, it was really cool! I think if it wasn’t rushed the day of, it could have turned out a little better, but overall I was happy with the results in the short period of time I gave him to work on it. I would definitely order in advance next time, and trust his work! The cake tasted okay, I got the Amia cake(chocolate and vanilla layers?) which i did not know was an eggless cake batter. It was moist, but not the usual texture I was used to. I think I just rushed the choice of cake, and didn’t read thoroughly through the options. The cake cost me $ 180.00 Yes, pricey, but it was a piece of art, and I’d pay that amount all over again for the same work :) I uploaded a photo of the original car, and the cake after. Hope it helps! :)

You would think that eggless cakes would taste dry and just bad. Well, at least that’s what I thought on my previous experiences with eggless cakes. But then… I came here. I ordered eggless. This is one of the few places around Fremont that does eggless cakes and I have to say… AMAZING. Their cake was so tasty. I bought a small one for a friend’s birthday and I just wanted to eat all of it. I got a mango something cake. Either a mango raspberry or a mango guava…

We were looking to get a smash cake for my son’s first birthday. His party was a San Francisco Giants theme and we wanted the cake to be a Giants baseball cap. I was working with Anh via email on what we wanted, and she got everything perfect. The price was fantastic and the quality was amazing. Though we really didn’t eat much of the cake because it was meant for the baby, I did try a small amount and it was very moist and delicious. I would definitely come back here in the future, price is reasonable and quality is excellent. Thanks Anh and team for coming through for us.

I have worked with Anh on 2 specialty cakes for my BF for his birthdays. She does an excellent job every time. We are currently working with Anh on a cake for our wedding! Exciting right? Her fondant cakes are YUMMY! I can actually eat the fondant! The cakes are always very moist inside and also never too sweet either. I cant wait to see the beautiful creation she makes for us on our special day: D

In the midst of my errands, I got distracted by the sign that said«order your gluten free cake» so I went inside… I didn’t think they’d have anything made. But surprisingly– they did! There was a bottom row of cakes and some individual sized options available! I went with the mango mousse gluten free cake since that’s the only one the employee had tried. He recommended it. I decided to eat it there so it wouldn’t go bad in the car since it was hot out. The seating area isn’t very inviting. It doesn’t seem like a place people like to stay and chill. It’s more like a get up and go place once you’ve ordered kind of place. I was excited about all the options for vegan, sugar free, eggless and gluten free! Finally!!! A place that caters to all options! I just wish that the cake tasted better. It was a little dry and the filling was not what I expected it. It was good but it wasn’t the best gluten free cake I’ve ever had. Hopefully overtime they’ll have better desserts that are gluten free. Perhaps their gluten free menu will evolve. I look forward to that day. I’ll have to come back and try the chocolate and guava flavors. Perhaps those might be better?

Ok I’m not really an advocate of any fad diet. I’ve also never resorted to anything sugar free. A friend raved about their Banana Chocolate cake. I know she doesn’t follow a fad diet too. So with that in mind we decided to give this place a try. This business is located in the Fremont Hub. Next to Coldstone. This must be a catering business more than anything else. I say this because the place has so much potential but not being used. They could spruce up the eating area for the customers that want to eat there instead. Our purpose to drive all the way here was to try their Banana chocolate cake. We learned that this particular cake is only made to order :(. So I tried their Tres Leche. Well it’s not for me. I figure I eat cake here and there so I’d rather eat something hearty. It felt too light for me. I’m still up for trying the Banana Chocolate Cake tho. I love the girl that helped us. She was very willing to put up with our silly questions. #sugarfree#eggfreenotforme
