Yo, I don’t know why this place only has 3.5 stars but… This is my ultimate favorite ramen spot, and I’m a tough ramen critic cause I love noodlez! I always get the spicy pork ramen, and hands down its amazeballs. It’s super spicy, so it’s not for you-I-can’t-handle-hotcheetos-people. –1 star cause the service does suck.

There’s a reason why this place always has a wait every time I come… it’s too good! This place never disappoints when it comes to ramen. Best ramen I’ve ever had. The pork is soft and melts in your mouth and the noodles are always a perfect density. You haven’t had real ramen till you’ve tried this place!

With 5 minutes til their 530 opening time and the door unlocked, I asked if we could sit inside and wait(since we had our 1yr old and it was a little cold out) Automatic bad vibes from EVERYONE from the moment we stepped foot in here. No greeting from any of the staff, no smiles, no nothing. It actually felt like we were inconveniencing them by being here. Even though the food was good I would not come back here based on the customer service/guest experience. The only reason we didn’t leave is because we drove from San Jose to try this place out

Ahhh… I really wanted to like this place. I was telling my friend how much I love ramen and I go all the time in Vegas and she was like«omg I need to take you to Ajisen Ramen, it’s the only place I go for ramen it’s my favorite!!» Soooo that got me super excited. We got in and it was a full house. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals! We finally got seated and she told me to order the most popular bowl, the Handmade Premium Pork Ramen and we also each got a side of the BBQ Pork Rice. The side came first and it was so good! Kinda tasted like the Filipino dish, adobo. Sooo nommmm! Then we got our ramen bowls… Ahhh like I said I reallllly wanted to like it but it just wasn’t good to me. The noodles were a weird texture, kinda hard. And they included veggies that aren’t usually in ramen as well. Plus, the meat wasn’t as soft/tender as it usually is! I assumed that the premium pork ramen was Tonkastu Ramen(pork ramen) and usually the slices of meat are super soft and tender. This definitely wasn’t like that. Idk I haven’t tried any other ramen places in the San Jose area other than this, but omg you all need to go to Vegas if you want amazing ramen, so sorry.

I used to love going here but the quality doesn’t seem the same as before. I had their«most popular item» AKA the handmade premium pork ramen(10.95) but had to add an egg because it didn’t come with one like how the other ramen did. I didn’t like how the egg was hard boiled because most ramen places have their eggs soft boiled(which is so much better). When my order came out, it wasn’t even hot so I couldn’t enjoy my meal. Who eats lukewarm ramen? The service wasn’t all that great either. They avoid making eye contact with you so you come up to them for the check opposed to them bringing it to you. I think I’ll just pass on Ajisen next time. I’d rather go to Kotetsu even if there’s a wait because the service and food is a lot better there.

The food is great but the service is horrible. There were so many empty tables that needed to be cleaned so all of the customers waiting could be seated. The servers refused to make eye contact with us and refused to clean tables. Also, they have a wait list that they supposedly used. We signed in on the wait list which had no one in front of us, but they didn’t even use it and let other people in that arrived long after us. I give a high rating for food because the ramen is to die for, but the service makes you want to die.

The ramen here isn’t bad. However, I don’t recommend getting the eel from this place. The eel is overpriced and doesn’t taste good. They could give more meats instead of one slice and want to charge more for everything.

I was not a fan of ramen until I came to Ajisen. I tried Orenchi before but I didn’t like it at all because I went home with so much salty flavor in my throat that I felt like I was coming home from the beach I usually get the BBQ pork ramen= a ton of meat and add on veggies, and extra egg(always cooked soft boiled perfectly), and their yummy volcano sauce. Each add on is $ 1.50 or so but its soooo worth it– especially the savory/spicy volcano sauce Try to come here early for Sunday lunch because the line gets crazy long!

This will always be my favourite ramen place!!! The service is super fast, the ramen is always served fresh and hot, the flavors are so authentic and obviously made with care and love… Although I live 1hour away from Fremont, I never hesitate going to Ajisen everytime I have the craving for some good japanese ramen!!! Keep it up!

This place is amazing! We came here on a Sunday night and it was packed with a line out the door. We put our name down and it only took 10 minutes to get a table for two. Prices are fair for their portions and quality. We ordered the bbq pork ramen, the premium pork ramen, and some small appetizer I don’t actually remember. Food was great, service was great and I’ll be back because I have a ramen obsession.

Summary: Better than average quality ramen and broth. Mostly tonkotsu-based soup ramen. The Good: Broth: Light, smooth tonkotsu broth. Not too greasy. Ramen: Firm, textured ramen noodles. Garnish: Charsiu is soft, smooth and tender. Quantity: Reasonable amount for an adult. The Bad: Broth: Lacks shoyu broth option(not based on tonkotsu) Garnish: Light on the vegetable side. Ambience: Typical, average size ramen place. Avoid lunch and dinner crowds if possible. Option: Bellevue location has a kid ramen set — good option for about $ 7~ Comment: Ajisen is a franchise chain. Tried their ramen in Bellevue, WA and Fremont, CA. Their house mainstay, the Ajisen Ramen is basic and reasonable at $ 8 in Fremont(a bit more at $ 11 in Bellevue).

Overall pretty good. Gf got #1 and I got the #2. Pork was ever so slightly overcooked but everything was still delicious and not too salty and overbearing. Santouku in Mitsuwa is probably better and a bit cheaper. Definitely recommended on a cold day when you’re freezing balls. Although the best remedy for a cold day is still whiskey. Gf got a stem of lettuce in her soup. She made a cute –_– face

I visit this restaurant once in awhile. There’s always a line so they ask you to sign in on the clipboard they place outside. There are only two ladies working the front. They work fast cleaning tables and serve food, but they seem to minimize conversation and won’t speak to you unless absolutely necessary. For instance, instead of asking what you’d like to order, they would awkwardly stand there as you point to an image. When you leave, don’t expect a «thank you.» Today they had to rearrange some chairs and tables for a large party. The waitress thought it was okay to drag the chair, creating an extremely loud and disrupting noise across the restaurant. Every customer starred at her, but she carried on with her other tasks. I had #9 tonight with 5 pieces of meat. One was burnt, the side was completely black. Seriously?! Broth was also slightly more bland than I remember. Hopefully my next visit will be better.

I came here with a friend for dinner on Sunday night. No wait time. They’re tucked away in the middle of this plaza, so you may miss it like I did as a first-timer. My friend and I both ordered the Handmade Premium Pork Ramen. He ordered a large size, I ordered regular with volcano sauce. Man, they are FAST. The food must have come out within ten minutes of ordering it. If you’re really hungry, go for the large portion. Otherwise, go with the regular because that was plenty for me. They give you a scoop of the volcano sauce in a bowl, which is definitely more than enough for two people to share. The spice level wasn’t too bad; it’s more of a fragrant spiciness than a burning spiciness. I thought it enhanced the flavor of the ramen for sure. Now as for the ramen itself, my friend accurately described it in two words: perfectly mediocre. I thought the pork was cooked perfectly and it almost melted in my mouth, but my friend thought it could have been better texture-wise. I wasn’t wowed by the broth, but again the volcano sauce elevated it in my opinion. The noodles were okay, but nothing to rave about. Service was kind of slow and the waitresses were not attentive at all. Because the food was only«perfectly mediocre,» I’d have to give this place three stars.

I’ve been to a lot of different ramen places, unfortunately this place misses the mark. I was visiting my parents who live in the area and we were looking for a quick spot to grab food. This place came recommended to us by friends, but nothing about it really made me feel the need to come back. The service was fine, atmosphere was what you would expect from a strip mall ramen joint, but it was the food that really turned me off. I ordered the pork broth, which is supposed to be their specialty. Assuming this is the best they have, the broth was a bit on the salty side, and the overwhelming amount of pork belly made me feel as though I was going to have a heart attack. For me, ramen needs to be a complete flavor, that means noodles, broth and toppings should harmoniously mesh together, and unfortunately my meal here just had no flow. It’s a bit out of the way for me to make another trip here, but I’m glad I at least got to experience it.

Ajisen is okay. My buddy and I came at 12:15, and the rush was just happening for Lunch. The broth itself was mediocre, and lacked flavor. I ordered the most popular dish, their meaty one — forgot the name. It was the number 1. Broth lacked the intensity of what ramen needs in broth: no flavor, no spice, no kick — it was plain. I had to add the pepper flakes on every sip I took to give it that edge. The noodles were cooked perfectly! The meat in the dish were amazing in taste and looks. Overall, would I come back? Maybe, if I was really craving ramen and no other place is close by.

Not as good as I remembered the last time. The service was good but they had pretty bad attitudes that potentially rubbed your ramen the wrong way. Any time I spoke to the employees, they would scowl and walked away. I ordered the #2 with extra bean sprouts and vegetables. In return, they gave me a rainforest. I asked for toppings, not the Yosemite national park! I couldn’t even see the broth. I had to eat my way through the trees to find the broth. At least I got what I paid for. The broth was alright but not very memorable.

Hmm 3.5÷5, but I’ll round up. I’ve been a few times and I’ve had pretty pleasant experiences. The servers have been really nice and attentive. What I tried: Tan tan ramen: Spicy, but I feel like the broth was missing flavor. I could taste the spices, but there was a pretty weak pork flavor. Maybe I just got it on an off day. Premium pork ramen: My favorite of the two. The pork here is one of the top that I’ve tasted. It pretty much just melts in your mouth and has a whole lot of flavor. The broth, however, does not match up to the meat. It’s good… but nothing special. This ramen comes with a lot of lettuce in it. I recommend this one Chicken Karaage: Meh. Giant pieces of chicken. Nothing special about this place. They only give like 6 pieces too… Not worth Overall, there are many other ramen places in the Bay that are better than this place, but if you’re looking for a decent place for ramen without having to wait long lines like some of the more popular ones, this is the place for you.
