I cannot say enough about the amazing care my mother received at Aegis. The facility is beautiful and the staff were first class. My mother spent her last year and a half at the facility and I will be eternally grateful to these folks for making it as dignified, caring and compassionate as possible. I found their knowledge and education to be exemplary. They always gave me honest, straightforward answers as I never wanted the«white washed» version. Their intuitive knowledge of how to communicate with me individually based on my personality was so appreciated. There is no one right place for your family member with dementia but this place was the perfect place for my mom!

There are two Aegis facilities in Fremont; I’m reviewing the one on Walnut. We are so grateful for the amazing and caring staff who are taking care of my Mom. She has health and memory issues, and they make her feel safe and respected. They gently encourage her to socialize and they make sure that she feels included but not overwhelmed. We particularly like that when she touches the call button, a staff member answers in less than 6 minutes – guaranteed. We can pull up electronic records to check, if we want. The facility itself is lovely, particularly the garden. When Mom has been having a bad day, we go outside and watch the birds play in the fountain or check on the strawberries growing in the back. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, the place is not cheap. But of all the places we considered, Aegis was by far the best. We’re glad we made the decision to have our Mom live here. Update 2⁄2016 We’ve learned a lot about senior care since I first posted. Aegis is still probably one of the better facilities, but even still, there is a lot that could be improved. The company spends a lot of money to make sure the facilities are clean and pretty; however, staff pay is low and there is a huge amount of turnover. Senior care may be one of the most difficult jobs out there, and if staff isn’t paid well, they don’t have a lot of incentive to give that extra TLC to the sometimes-difficult seniors. I still give props to the assistant manager, Li Li and to the two amazing activities folks, Gevette and Susie. But they can’t do it all.

I moved my 90 yo father here in April of 2011. He had been living in a very nice Erickson Community in MD but we wanted him close to us. I looked at four places in the Bay Area and Aegis would be able to keep him no matter how badly his health deteriorated(i.e., he did not have to move to a 24 hour nursing facility). The facility is very nice. There is a lot going on. He has even taken field trips. I ask how he feels quite often and he says he likes the place. It is a bit pricey but it is surprisingly 20% cheaper than MD, plus there is no buy-in. I think Aegis is great. The staff all seem to know me by name and I do not go there that much.

I came here only for the marketing purpose, otherwise I would not stop by here. The place is very nice for your loved ones to stay. Here are my reasons why: 1. Inside this retirement home, there’s a cozy/homy atmosphere that surrounds the place 2. They have an outdoor garden for your loved ones to enjoy the nature 3. The activity area is spacious and alive with the natural sunlight coming form the windows. 4. The rooms that your loved ones would stay is very warm and cozy! 5. The dining area is very well maintained and beautifully decorated with the holiday themes. 6. The staff are very helpful and full of knowledge! 7. The parking is not that big, it’s limited! Overall, this place is wonderful, but a bit pricey.
