Stopped for lunch after a Unilocal search. Old time ambiance and a comfortable setting. I had the Pork Chop with Green Beans and a Salad. Chop was cooked perfectly, the salad was good but the green beans were from a can. Overall I enjoyed the experience.

Decent dinner, service was enthusiastic. Chicken Alfredo and blackened fish were both fresh and tasty. A reasonable choice in Fremont Ohio

This evening my wife and I went to dinner at the 818 club and were very disappointed with the service and and the food. I had to practically beg for a refill on my ice tea. The salad taste dirty like the lettuce hadn’t been washed, after waiting another ten minutes after salads I asked about our appetizers they said right away so they brought cold deep fried mushrooms out to us and then a minute later they brought our steaks out they were to be med-rare they both were well done and they still hadn’t brought my wife’s soup at this point. Nobudy working there seems to care i will never go back.

This is one of those places you find in lots of small towns — mostly brick front with a couple of windows, hanging sign over the door, through which you can see lots and lots of people having themselves a great meal. Having despaired of finding decent chow near the hotel, I decided that the trek into town might prove fruitful, my wife having previously checked out their menu over their website. So we get there and it’s packed. I check the specials and see that, seeing as how this is a Friday night, they have a special which is in all but name a classic Wisconsin fish-fry. Breaded-and-deep-fried honest-ta-God yellow lake perch which rivaled anything my Northwoods grandma produced in my childhood, and for sure beats the usual fried cod you find more and more often at fish fries. And I gotta give at least one bonus star for a place that can serve you with a frosted 32oz fishbowl full of Yuengling’s along with the fish. Holy cow, this place is good.

Our hotel recommended 818 and I am so glad they did! Service was fast and friendly and the food was excellent. Two of us had the perch(outstanding) and the other had the Mississippi BBQ chicken salad. It was nice to be able to choose large or small on the salad. Key lime pie for dessert!

Stopped off on a road trip on a Wednesday. Packed with families, friends. Clearly a local fav. I had the prime rib special. My son had the burrito. Food tasty, good service. A bit pricier than I expected. Sides only ok.

Super super great service. Could not have been nicer. 5 stars for friendlyness! We are from out of town but I can tell this is a local staple. Felt like walking into a time warp. Home made soups were very good. Ruben fair. Wednesday thru sat I guess is their busy time with prime rib being the specialty. Going to go back for that when in town again, the generous friendly smile makes me want to

Not a fan. How hard is it to make a good club sandwich? Never advertise mayo when you use miracle whip, they are NOT interchangeable at all. Also fries need to be seasoned, even McDonald’s has this down. Btw hard to add a tip on a credit card without a pen!!! Not even busy when I was there. Pathetic

Stopped in due to good reviews, and desire to never see the inside of Panera and their ilk. Looks like a bar from outside, with no windows. Warm and welcoming inside. Mix of Moms and kids, tables of retirees, business men and women, and other workers on lunch break. I sat at the bar and enjoyed quick friendly service, soup of the day(squash with ham, a bit heavy on garlic but homemade and delish) and club sandwich. Very nice, comfortable place.

A Fremont staple. Predictable, the same every time, and that is what makes it so charming. A home town bar. Very quaint in it’s own way. If you go in expecting anything other than an hometown bar then you will always be disappointed. We continue going because Grandma Hoelzle loves it.

Always good food. The prime rib is excellent. Great price on beer and scotch. Wine selection is just ok.

One of my local favorites. A wide selection on the menu. Burgers, steaks, chicken, and fish dishes. The wet burrito is a monster, so be forewarned. Chicken parm is good, but the Prime Rib is king in this place. Appetizers are good, but the complimentary garlic toast fills you up just fine. From the bar, one word; FISHBOWL.

Again this is a duplicate. I’m taking it back up to 4 stars. My bad meal is gone and the horrible waitress is gone. There are two 818 club reviews on Unilocal.Been here several times and do have to say this is the place to go in Fremont. They have a good variety of options. I recommend the Chicken Parmigiana or Smothered Chicken. Steaks are hit or miss. I have had good and bad. To get a salad with Romaine lettuce is a 99 cent upgrade. OK I can afford that. Prices are reasonable. They have a bar with not the best wine selection but what do you expect in Fremont!

The Most decent place in Fremont. The food was good, but it’s not an irish pub, just an irish Atmosphere. Still Good prime rib, nice fish, great friendly and smiling staff.

Fun people and good food… the owner was there on a Monday night and we had a great time with him and the servers. Their recommendation re. Food and beer were«right on». Stop in and enjoy… and be sure to harass them that Guiness is not on tap.

Good, friendly bar/wait staff and great food. The location is nearby St. Joe’s so the place is rather easy to find. The feel of the place is timeless and comfortable. Best time to go is during dinner which they have excellent selections of meat items. I’m usually commuting between Toledo and Fremont all the time and this place is a perfect place to relax and enjoy before going home. Avoid the chain restaurants here in Fremont and support the local businesses because they are the best!

Good small town spot with quality food, safe and friendly environment, and a good menu with great variety. It kinda sounds and looks from the outside like a shady local dive bar, but it is nice and friendly and open on the inside, and was very busy for a Thursday evening. From the freeway(I-90), its about a 4 or 5 mile drive, but its worth it if you’re tired of the standard chain restaurants… The dinner menu has some surprisingly good stuff on it, like various sized cuts of prime rib, lobster, fresh scallops, fresh perch, and a good amount of other things. Most dinners come with a roll and dinner salad, so that saves a little bit of $$. I got the open faced roast beef sandwich, which came with mashed potatoes, and an iced tea. $ 11 total before tip — not bad. If only I hadn’t wandered in there sporting my Red Sox jersey during baseball season!(by the way, they were still very friendly, it was just a smidge awkward as they are a Clevelend Indians-friendly bar). Oh, and they had awesome looking homemade desserts, but I was too full to try one out…

We were passing through the area and fell upon The 818. We’re glad we did. We arrived on Saturday at 5:30 and it was packed. That was a good sign. We were headed to a show in Clyde, so we had a time issue, but we waited only 15 minutes. We did our wait at the bar and had one of their nice beer selections, served in a very chilled pint glass. We ordered liver and onions, prime rib, and chicken. The salads were great, the food was VG, the service attentive and the restrooms clean. What more could you ask for in a small town eatery. If you’re in this part of Ohio, you won’t be disappointed by spending some time and money at The 818.

Great small town restaurant. The Prime Rib special is always delicious. Pre dinner salad with house dressing that is fantastic. Service is great and food is much better than average.
