When we went(a busy weekend in June), the park seemed pretty clean. I enjoyed the short trail walk away from the crowds. This seems to be a popular spot for fishing. If you have kids, the playground is a nice diversion from beach activities.

It’s been years since i’ve been here, so I was surprised to see so much improvement. There is a nice playground for kids and there are also covered picnic areas. There are bathroom facilities, which could use some cleaning, but are otherwise nearby and easy to get to. The jetty is paved with concrete about half a mile out and then just gravel paved most of the rest of the way. I remember having to hop rocks all the way out, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy it was to get out there. You get to see ships coming and going and sometimes you’ll see dolphins playing. The Surfside beach area is decent, though not clear since the river drains out here. But the jetty does a decent job of keeping most of the muddy water between the two jettys. The day we went out the fishing was good. Sheep head, Spanish mackerel, angel fish, and some were catching amberjack. Surfide Jetty Park is a good place to have a family picnic and to do some fishing at the same time.

Love their burgers. Don’t be in a hurry though as they are cooked to order. Cold beer and good food!

Perfect, precious, hidden gem! Took Friday off from work and worked my way from Galveston to Surfside exploring the Gulf Coast. The jetty scene was something from a movie or novel. This tiny town has loads of history and color. This park was very nice and unexpected. I saw a sea turtle and flocks of pelicans sitting in the calm water! It was peaceful and quiet. Absolute heaven!

I really enjoy my quick visit to the park. It had nice restrooms, if it had showers it would have gotten that fifth star! Beautiful walk ways and rocks, it was fun to watch a huge cargo ship get pulled in by tug boats. It was pretty crowded with Anglers and families.

There is the beach to the left of the jetty if you don’t plan to go fishing. A swing set close by, and a couple of tables. My third time here to go fishing. Haven’t caught anything yet, but there’s always next time. :) Lost a couple of lures to the rocks, but got over it. Every now and then, you’ll get to see a dolphin swim by while you’re fishing. Overall, it’s a decent place to go visit, if you want to fish, just take a stroll out on the jetty, or play in the sand.

That’s a long walk to the end. I’m not much of a fisherman, but there were plenty of folks out there working it. The dog and I enjoyed walking out to the end and taking in the breeze. I wish we had been able to be out there when one of the big tankers came in. The park part of the jetty is pretty sad. Some swings, some covered picnic tables, and a bathroom. Of course, you’re not there to play really, but it seems like they’re kind of trying.

This is a pretty nice park. There are always family picnics going on. There used to be more facilites here, but hurricane Ike wiped those out. Now there are bathrooms again, which is good. There is beach access here, which is nice. Just keep the kids away from the side of the jetty, please, unless you want the kiddos washed out to sea. I’ve seen that happen, not fun. The jetty here is nice. The top is paved, so you can easily walk out and drag your giant wagon of fishing supplies behind you. Fishermen generally mob this place. I have had some luck here and others generally do better than I do. I’ve heard that reds and sharks are good to catch here. I generally get silly stuff like gaftops and pogies. A few times I’ve caught banana fish. Those are fun. Also fun is watching the ships and boats going by. They are a never ending parade. If you stay long enough and keep your eyes peeled, you will also see porpoise(dolphin) swimming up the river or out to sea. I have never made a trip here without seeing them. They are awesome. The bird spotting is nice as well, with pelicans, skimmers, terns, and I have even seen a frigate bird here. That was a first for me and a thrill.

Jetty park has a huge long jetty covered with fishermen. The jetty is a lot more substantial and easier to walk on than the ones in Galveston. Also, the jetty is way longer. I saw a guy catch a 38 inch fat Redfish. A nice place to stop and go for a walk.
