Oh a diamond in the rough! The value and quality is refreshing. Dinners start at $ 6.99 for a full course meal. Specials are complete and filling. You couldn’t eat thus much at McDonald’s for this price! The skillets are amazing. Try the cream cheese french toast @_@ Super yum

This place is a five star example of what it purports to be: a solid, relatively simple country style family restaurant with a nicely varied menu, which delivers tasty, well-prepared meals in large portions for a low price. They serve breakfast any time of day, as well as a good selection of salads and sandwiches and a satisfactory array of steaks, chicken, fish, and even stir-fry for lunch or dinner. There is also a selection of daily specials listed on a whiteboard and an impressive looking dessert menu, although we did not partake of the latter. One could eat here many, many times without ever repeating a main dish. The servers are friendly and earnest, and we were greeted quickly upon seating ourselves, even though it was peak traffic time, just after noon on a Friday when we arrived. My wife and I are in our early to mid sixties and try to eat a healthy diet most of the time, with a little splurge here and there. I had a vegetable omelet with cheddar cheese added, which included a potato selection and toast with butter and jelly. The omelet was perfectly cooked and contained fresh mushrooms, tomato, onion, and green pepper, all cooked just right-still crisp(except the tomatoes, of course) but not raw. It was pretty much salt free as prepared. I had American fries which also were cooked perfectly, crisply browned with no hint of scorching, also with very little salt and almost no noticeable fat retention. The coffee was decent and hot; not for coffee snobs but typical for a place like this one. My wife ordered corned beef hash topped with scrambled eggs, with hash browned potatoes,(her splurge!) all of which she said were excellent. The CB hash may well be from a can but I haven’t seen that dish scratch-made more than a very few times in my life, so that’s no criticism. She also had decaf hot tea, which is not all that easy to find in restaurants these days, if it ever was. The interior is clean, as are the rest rooms, and nicely decorated with plenty of room to walk between tables. We enjoyed everything and walked out of there in a little less than an hour for under 20 bucks, including tax and tip, full but not bloated. You can’t ask for much more than that. We will be back!

Had a lovely breakfast here today. My husband raved about the Eggs Benedict. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and gave me a styrofoam cup of water to take out to our dogs. My only complaint is the weak coffee.

This seems to be an above average family restaurant, based on the reviews here, so I thought I’d give it a go. I went inside to place a carry-out order. The atmosphere is fine, it’s standard, the furniture is formula, the same wood-and-brocade you find in a typical family restaurant. I placed an order for a dinner special, a chicken stir fry, with beef barley soup, coleslaw and garlic toast. The main course was packed in a foam clamshell, but wrapped in film, which kept it warm and prevents spilling on the upholstery. The soup was one of the better ones I’ve had, flavorful, rich and not over-salted like most coffee shop soups. The stir-fry was also well prepared, with plenty of small chunks of chicken, julienne strips of onion and sweet peppers, carrot slices and a slightly sweet marinade, all served over a bed of rice. I would order it again, but next time I’m in Freeport overnight, I might just want to try something else here. I recommend this restaurant as a local alternative to franchises.

I just moved to Freeport temporarily for my job. I’ve lived all over the states and have a great appreciation for food and cultures of all kinds. I love this place! It’s a tiny Mom n’ Pop joint(really casual) and seems like it’s where the locals go to eat(that’s a good thing). Big portions for really small prices. Everything we(me, my husband and my parents) ate was homemade and the service was great too!
