I had gone there for a massage a few times. Let me state, the massage was fine and the girl giving it was very nice. I have no complaints about her at all. However, the place is dirty. Yes, it’s old, but it doesn’t have to be dirty. The first impression I had upon walking in the back door was«don’t they ever vacuum this rug?» The two chairs they have in the back to wait for your massage are rattan and there are throw pillows that look straight out of the 1960’s and it also looks like that’s the last time they were washed as well. They also threw a couple of bath towels over the chairs as well. No way was I sitting on them. In the corner sits a couple of window air conditioners and on top of them is a fake plant. Literally covered in dust. I don’t think it’s ever been cleaned. I was so skeeved out by the back room I figured I’d go sit up front where they do the hair. They have benches built into the walls up there and pads on top covered in what looks like vinyl. I sat there and looked down only to find hair all along the sides of the vinyl. Little pieces of hair everywhere. Seriously? Does anyone ever clean in this place? Ever? And sitting there listening to the conversations taking place the air went a bit«blue». Now I’m not one to be easily offended because I can curse like a drunken sailor on leave, however I don’t expect this in a place of business. The massage room is located in the same room with the furnace/boiler. It is partially hidden by a room divider which doesn’t do a very good job of it. The ceiling is water stained. There isn’t really any place to put your personal items. If I have to take my necklace off there isn’t a little table with a dish or anything else that would give it that«spa» feeling. When I was there they had a space heater going that was so noisy you couldn’t hear the music playing in the background. You could however, hear the truck noises outside and people talking. The blankets are threadbare and rough. When you pull the blanket up to cover yourself, your feet stick out. The place where you put your face is just draped with a couple of towels instead of having the covering wrap around it. When you move your face you end up moving the towels and now your face is on the plastic where others have been before you. I don’t blame the therapist for this. She has to work with what she is given. Management should get a grip on this mess and hire a cleaning company and invest in some new ceiling tiles and go to Walmart and get some proper blankets. And get the proper covers for the face rest as well. Gross. I really wanted to go here as it was very close to home but instead I now go to the Shape Shoppe in Myerstown. It’s a little farther but very clean and welcoming inside. When I leave I don’t have the overwhelming desire to run home and shower because I feel gross. And if you read the reviews that aren’t recommended, you will find I’m not the only one grossed out by the filthy conditions. Apparently the management doesn’t give a crap. And FYI, the prices here aren’t bargain prices for a massage. I pay the same amount for the massage I’m getting now in much nicer surroundings. And you can’t put your tip on the credit card or check. You have to tip your therapist in cash. Which is a pain because I usually don’t carry cash and always had to make sure I had cash on hand. They do give you a punch card and after a certain number of massages you get one at half price. I don’t remember how many massages you have to have to get this. Still not worth it. Everything is just nasty. Yuck.
