Good, but not great. I liked the pulled pork and cole slaw. Hated the mac n cheese, but am admittedly picky about what I like in it. I found the standout product to be the hush puppies, which were amazing. I would go again if people wanted to, but likely won’t choose it again with so many similar options around here.

Very good food. We had a pork potato and half chicken with fries and coleslaw. Really liked the white bbq sauce! Did not like that we sat down with four tables of dirty dishes around us and people standing around in the back. Would come back by if in the area but would not make a special trip.

First time here. Wife and I stopped by on the way home, asked if they did a ‘to-go’. Ordered chicken, pork and brisket. Got home. No bbq sauce in order and boy does this meat need it. Chicken and pork were really dry. Sides were mediocre. Brisket was ok. Way not worth the $ 40.00. Won’t be back.

I will definitely be back. I went with the platter for lunch(bbq(you add the sauce from the containers by the soda), fries and mac&cheese)) which left me quite full. I would be interested to try the potato concept that adds meat and fixing to a baked potato that my coworker had. ps, I don’t know what is in the white sauce but it was awesome. I think I would head back just for some more of that stuff.

Giving it one star is rating it too high. The bones tasted like they were boiled first, no flavor at all, couldn’t have had a rub on the bones, I’ve traveled the country shooting pro sports and always looked for rib places and this place is at the very bottom, and pricey. Too bad because it’s close to my home. For me it’s a one and done. The search continues.

Oh my!!! I eat barbecue pretty much any chance I have while traveling and let me tell you when I Unilocaled this place just by looking at the pictures of the macaroni and cheese I knew that it was going to be good because it looked Home made… Thank goodness that I stopped to eat here the ribs super tender I got a half a rack, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, hush puppies and to top it off when discussing with the waitress that was my first time here and telling her that everything was so good she brought me out a plate of cabbage to try it out and again let me tell you it did not disappoint!!! Everything I tried it was fantastic, the waitress Thea checked on me and made sure my first time here would definitely not be my last, I recommend this place if you’re driving through or even if you just live in town… 5-stars on food and pricing :-)

First time I ate here it was not bad but this time the pulled pork was over cooked & dry. The potato salad was not much to talk about either.

Fredericksburg is just an awful place for BBQ… having said that, this place may be the worst I have had. The pulled pork was so dry that it resembled canned meat. The dryness of the pork and the lack of smoke in the air made it obvious that this pork had been smoked days prior to our visit. There was ZERO flavor in the meat at all. The shaved potato side was less than impressive, but the baked beans were pretty tasty. I was not impressed with any of the 4 sauces they had to choose from. I will say that the hushpuppies may have been the best I have ever had, but unfortunately I cannot give any credit here due to the pure agony of the meat itself. This place will not last long if they do not find a way to improve their product.

Dixie bones is amazing bbq! Today I ordered my bbq on top of the salad and added some sauce to make a lighter lunch, it was still amazing! My fiancé got the sandwich and loved every bite! So good;) we are lucky to have a Dixie bones in Fred:-) best bbq spot around by far!

We have been looking for a great BBQ place we’ve tried every restaurant in Fredericksburg. Dixie Bones BBQ Post is hands down the best. The meat is tender and juicy, sauces are unique with something for every taste bud, the sides are flavorful and really round it all out. If you BBQ this is where it’s at!

Great bbq! Traditional pork, beef, and chicken, mac & cheese, Cole slaw, potato salad, collards, etc. All done right! Cool décor, nice people, clean bathroom. Would absolutely come back.

Yummy little BBQ place in Fredericksburg. Not a fan of BBQ that much but their pulled chicken is delicious with the white BBQ sauce! The sides are ok. Macaroni and cheese a little dry but everything else I’ve tried is pretty good! Fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. The proportions are pretty big too. Price is a little expensive though. Some meals starting at $ 17. Overall though pretty good food.

I decided to try the food at this location, but it was not good at all. There is another location in Woodbridge ten times better. I recommend going to the other location.

Im a little conflicted writing this review. I needed some lunch on my trip from Charlotte to Baltimore and this seemed like a good spot to stop. First, the atmosphere is great… clean, well layed out, and friendly staff. Second, good menu, average prices, good portions, and very tasty. I had a chopped pork plate with slaw and mac&cheese. Mac & cheese was excellent… dense, cheesy and a fine effort. The slaw was good also… but slightly on the soupy side… great for a sandwich, but not quite as good straight outta the bowl. That didnt stop me from eating every bit of it. Finely sliced and good flavor made this a great choice. And finally, the meat… dry. It had a spectacular smoke on it and there were plenty of outside pieces… but dry. Did I mention it was dry? I fixed this problem by putting the meat on a spectacular bun, a little sauce and some of that juicy slaw… and it was magnificent! All things considered, it was a solid 4. I would come back and try the ribs… DL

Let’s just say BBQ is regional and varies widely — so comparing BBQ in NOVA(or Fred) vs say NC, well, it’s night and day. Ditto the pricing as well — nearly double what a BBQ sandwich would costs in NC and a platter, with all you can eat hushpuppies? $ 8 — Dixie Bones $ 12.50 and you won’t get all you can eat hushpuppies; the BBQ, just«okay» nothing special — vs say Parker’s in NC, where it is PULLED(not chopped, which matters) is moister and seasoned better. So it’s tough for me to give Dixie Bone’s a good review, just an okay review — because I have had the best and this is just not there. The slaw was decent though, I’ll give ‘em that. Two people, lunch(platters) with two iced teas? $ 31! Ouch!!! Okay, now about those hushpuppies — I’m not sure why no one in Virginia can make a hushpuppy right — but they can’t. Trust me, I’ve tried almost every BBQ place in NOVA and yet to get a decent hushpuppy(and NEVER«all you can eat» — they want $ 2.50 for 6 of them! — in NC they are like bread, endless!) When I visit NC, we do get a wide variation on hushpuppies but oddly, there are ALL very good — especially Parker’s in Wilson NC — those are like friggin’ candy — put butter on them and you will think you have died and gone to heaven. Worth the 15 min detour off I-95 as you past Wilson(off Rt 301) You’d think someone in NC would move to Virginia(and I understand why they don’t) and open a decent BBQ restaurant — they probably wouldn’t make it in NOVA however because«Northerner’s» are clueless when it comes to BBQ — no idea how good it can be because all those great BBQ places in NC all look like little shacks or holes in the wall — not a place you’d go if you did not know it was great BBQ. Better for us all that they not know, I guess. Got to keep some things just for us Southerners! I’d probably eat here again if someone else was paying but way too expensive for a counter service restaurant.

Got the two meat combo. Both the ribs and the pulled pork were barely warm. Go figure: you’d think that whether they’re using warming ovens or microwaves, they’d check the meat temperature. Now this is curious: all of the sides were hot. The beans were very tasty, while the hushpuppies were some of the best I’ve had. Finally, the fries were hot and would have been pretty flavorful except someone got a tad carried away with the salt. So, summing up: overall excellent sides; main courses just meh.

The food here is delicious! My boyfriend ordered the pork bbq plate with hush puppies and mac-n-cheese. I ordered the pork bbq sandwich with coleslaw on the top and a serving of baked beans. The hush puppies are good, but are not for those with peanut allergies. The hush puppies are fried in peanut oil. Everyone who works here is really nice, too. We are definitely going to come back during our next trip between DC and Virginia Beach.

Awesome! My favorite bbq locally. Excellent sides. Especially the mac n cheese. The hush puppies are great. The green are seasoned perfectly. I love the selection of sauces. Original is my favorite but I always mix and match. Some of the very best fries you will ever find. And the rolls are unique and great! I always opt for the pork bbq. But my hubby is a huge fan of the ribs. I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal here. Eat in and take home are always top quality. I know there are time honored local favorites, but they just can’t compare to the flavors here. Maybe the Q is good, but they are losers on the sauce. Go here! It’s delish!
