Comfort Suites Fredericksburg South

No complaints. We stayed here for one night on our road trip through Virginia. I got a good deal on Expedia. :) The room was big, and it had a living room. There were flatscreen TVs in both rooms, which is important to some people. ;) They also had wifi and a hot breakfast included in the room. They’re very close to the highway for quick on-​and-​off, and the front desk clerk was very friendly! Also, there’s a fireplace in the atrium and an indoor pool. They have laundry facilities for guests, and I would have jumped on that if it wasn’t so early in our trip. No complaints at all. I’d happily stay here again!

I stayed here because it was convenient, relatively inexpensive, and had some good online reviews.
But the room itself was pretty bleak and depressing — dark brown flowery bedspread like something from the ‘70s… Old, clunky composite furniture… And a shower that made a strange whining sound the whole time it ran, like it was in pain… The room was lit by ugly buzzing fluorescent bulbs, which gave everything a weird glow. All in all the room felt old and shabby. Compared to a Hampton Inn or a Holiday Inn, this place felt very dated and drab.
The offered a decent free breakfast in the morning, and the service was friendly overall, but that doesn’t really overcome the general dreariness of the room itself. It wasn’t a horrible place to stay, but it wasn’t particularly enjoyable either… I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
