I wasn’t totally impressed. Owner was very nice. Décor and rooms outdated. Massage was good but not the best I’ve had. 1hr massage was only about 45 minutes. They seem to include undressing and dressing as part of the hour. It wasn’t a horrible experience but it wasn’t fantastic either.

Best I can do is 2 stars… Told to be there 1015 hrs for 1030 appointment. Get there and place is dark and all locked up?
Wife’s massage therapist got there at around 1015 and went in back entrance. She was pleasant and said good morning. My massage therapist shows up a min or two later.
I’m sitting on the porch still waiting for someone to open the front door. He looks at the RV/​trailer parked in front of business, looks at me and sarcastically says, «seriously!» I told him not my rig. Then he looks back at me and says «this is for customer parking!» I tell him again that it isn’t my rig.
First massage therapist then let us in and hunted around for paperwork while apologizing saying receptionist usually has the door open on time and kept looking for paperwork. Receptionist showed up around here and took over signing us up.
My massage was just OK.
Here’s a lesson for ya. Don’t start bitching at the person sitting on the porch 1^st thing the AM. Might be YOUR customer…

Great massage from Sarah! While on an RV trip, the spa worked me right in and Sarah spent extra time working on my knots. Highly recommend!

If planning a weekend of shopping and touring wineries, this is an excellent way to transition from the hustle and bustle to enjoying a fun filled weekend. We were in town long enough to check into the B&B, then headed over to Above and Beyond Day Spa for our couples massage. On a side note, I don’t have a couples massage to compare it to, but it was pretty excellent just the same!
Upon entering, we were met with a warm greeting and overview of what to expect, asked to complete a quick questionnaire, and then our masseuses reviewed our answers and expectations. We both went with a firm Swedish massage and were led to the back room where we were given some privacy to get comfy on our tables. I found the location to be quiet for being so close to the shopping area on Main, complimented by relaxing music and a pleasant lavender scent. Shortly after we got undressed and situated, we heard a gentle knock, and the ladies came in to get started.
My masseuse seemed very knowledgeable, and for being small in size, was strong and able to provide a firm massage mostly using hands and forearms. She found the sore spots and worked them out to the point the shoulder I had rotator cuff surgery on was much more limber (even 3 days later!) than it’s been in years. I can’t remember her name but I have a feeling they’re all good. Boyfriend also had a young lady and said she did a great job too.
Like a few other reviews have stated, if looking for a fuss and frills day spa, this may not be what you’re expecting, but if you’re like me and like a quiet, eyes closed, comfy surroundings with a knowledgeable massage therapist, you’ll be happy you came here. It really set the mood for the remainder of our trip and if in the area again, would return for a repeat!

The massage was exactly what I wanted, and the staff was very friendly. They were able to fit four of us in at the same time with only a phone cal they day prior.
They have a no frills ambiance though. The room I was in looked like it doubled as a storage location for old massage tables, towels and robes.
So it’s great if your looking for a nice way to kill time and relax, but if your expecting a cucumber-​mint infused water kind of spa experience then you may be let down.

We did the 1 hr couples massage — given by owner: Dawn, and by Tatyana. Good massage. Peaceful setting. Relaxing atmosphere. Easy to find. I recommend trying this place out!

My husband received a massage which he enjoyed, and I got a spa manicure. We both felt that the employees were all very nice and polite! The location was great and the prices were very fair.
However, our low star rating is because of the quality of my shellac manicure — poor. Within 24 hours two nails had chipped and the next day another one started peeling off. I did no strenuous activities or anything to cause the peeling and chipping. I’ve had many shellac nail treatments and none have chipped until two weeks or later. I’m very disappointed in this outcome considering I paid $ 50 for this manicure. Since we were on vacation in Fredericksburg it’s not as if we’ll be back anytime soon, so I can’t just stop by and ask for the technician to fix it. I’m sorry to give such a low rating, but such a poor shellac nail treatment is unacceptable. I believe their product is not the issue, it was the application. My technician was very nice, but my nail job was not.

What a great afternoon! Adriana and Staci treated us like kings. A spa day with the boys turned into a a relaxing afternoon with great service and very clean. I will definitely be returning. A very nice recommendation from my wife.

I’ve gotten massages all over the world, from small parlors to super expensive spas and this place takes the icing. I forgot who my massage therapist was but she was the older lady and was she incredible!
The place is super quaint and clean and the staff is super nice. Its a really good getaway for those going to the hill country /​wine country wanting to relax before they start off the weekend, on a saturday morning /​afternoon.
Will definitely be back!

This was my 3^rd visit to Above and Beyond and as usual it was great. A Swedish massage by Adriana… very professional… she found the «kinks» and got them out! I then had a Spa Pedicure by Stacy that was wonderfully relaxing. I would highly recommend both ladies the next time you need some pampering! The facilities are very clean, soothing and welcoming. Thank you Above and Beyond for providing a great escape!

Wow! Fabulous Swedish massage followed by the best spa (without the water) pedicure I have ever had! Very clean facilities. Very friendly. But man do they know what they are doing. I will make a point to come back!

Lovely and comfortable location housed in a cute house right on Main Street with super soft massage beds. They are open 7 days a week and very accommodating with appointments. Great for the tourist visitor to Fredericksburg! I had a lovely Swedish style massage with Johnna and she did a great job with just the right touch pressure. My massage was so relaxing that I fell asleep! They use organic products, also a great plus in my book. So next time you visit Fredericksburg, I would highly suggest Above and Beyond.

My husband and I were in town for vacation and decided to get a couple’s massage. I knew it was going to be good as soon as we walked in because it was very quiet inside. It irks me when staff is loud in a spa. The staff here created a peaceful and professional environment. The couple’s room was nicely spaced out and did not feel like they tried to just shove 2 beds into a tiny room like some places I’ve been. Our masseuses were incredible. They applied the right amount of pressure and listened to our areas of concerns. It was overall an excellent experience.

Housed in a cool 1860’s house on Main St., the location is great and the staff was so incredibly friendly. The man at the front described the different types of massages offered and made sure we were getting what we wanted.
However, this is not what I expected with ‘Day Spa’ in the name. That conjures up images of comfy robes, hot tea or mimosas, lounging in a relaxation room or by a pool, availability of a sauna, and similar. There were none of these things, which is fine, if you know this going in.
My husband and I got away for a few days before the arrival of our second daughter and really needed some down time, especially with a delightful but spirited two-​year-​old at home. We booked 2 massage and pedicure packages. My massage was pretty good — pregnancy massages are tough. I enjoyed my hour. However, my husband’s massage was god overall but could have improved a bit. For both of us. Since the house has few rooms, there are about 5 – 6 massage tables in the back room so they can only do couples or group massages. Totally fine by us. We don’t usually go for couples massages because they can be distracting. During the massage, they heated a towel in a microwave, resulting in both some zen-​breaking beeping and a towel that was simultaneously too hot and not at all hot. It seems like this could be an easy fix. In some extenuating circumstances, I can see using some alternate method of heating a towel but this seemed to be the permanent set-​up.
Moderately relaxed from the massage, we re-​dressed and went back out into the lobby to meet our pedicurist. Just one lady. For both of us. I wish we’d known beforehand. The mani/​pedi room is upstairs and has plenty of room for several people at a time. We were still puzzled as to why only one lady had to do both pedicures at once. Maybe, since it was a Monday, they hadn’t fully staffed for the day. She did handle the back and forth well and the scrub, moisturizer, and hot towels were wonderful. However, a couple of things were lacking — the massage and the nail trim/​shaping. We kept waiting for those to happen but then we arrived at the polish part of my pedicure and that was it. For both of us. My husband’s toenails looked the same as when he’d walked in. We certainly would have asked but the process was a little unclear. It sounds odd — pedicures are not that confusing and generally follow a loose structure but we just didn’t know what to expect next with the type of pedicure we’d scheduled). That said, my feet were soft, toenails painted beautiful, with vegan nail polish, and the pedicurist was friendly but could tell we preferred to zone out rather than have much conversation.
If you’re looking for a traditional mani/​pedi or massage and aren’t after a spa atmosphere, this is a good place to check out.

I was in town with my mother for her birthday. I really wanted to get a massage, but as my mother had a significant back injury the year before, we settled for facials. After a quick google/​yelp search, I called this spa. Easy booking for the next day. Day of our massages, we were called to confirm. We were asked (luckily) if anyone had a hard time with stairs. Once I informed them that my mother didn’t do well with them but can manage them if necessary, we were told we would have a room on the first floor. In fact, they even offered us a room together (bonus for us). Later that day, we called to see if we could come a bit earlier. No problem.
Upon arriving, we were greater warmly and given the spa/​legal paper work. The therapist spent time making sure to ask my mother about her back injury in order to ensure her comfort.
Without a doubt, this was one of the best facials I have ever had. And I’ve had $ 400 facials. I’ve been to Canyon Ranch. I know my spas. It was only 30 minutes but it was fabulous.
Considering the price, ease of booking, and quality I must give this place 5 stars. Next time we are in Fredericksburg, we will return.

$ 65 for an hour massage scheduled the day before? Don’t mind if I do!
For two years running, my brother and his wife have allowed me to crash their anniversary celebration — what can I say, I tend to bring the party? So, as a token of appreciation to them, I thought a couples massage (and one for myself too, of course) would do the trick.
Walking into Above and Beyond, it appears you’ve entered someone’s antique-​filled home. Right there in the living room sits the front desk. It’s just so «Fredericksburg». They greeted us warmly, had us fill out the small amount of paperwork in side-​by-​side lazy boy recliners, then we were on our way to relaxation station within 15 minutes.
The massage itself: I found myself wishing it wouldn’t end. So that’s a good sign, right? They’re as gentle or firm as you wish and it’s absolutely serene in the room, complete with smell-​goods and waterfall music. A major plus to me was that each room has a private restroom, too!
It was my brother’s first massage and he said he could’ve gone for a whole hour more. He’s considering making it a regular thing — something I thought I’d never hear him say!
My tip: Don’t walk here. We did, and not only were we pretty sweaty by the time we arrived, but walking in the heat after an hour massage is the worst planning you could do for yourself.

There are no words for me to properly describe this place. Upon first glance your going «oh gosh, what am I getting myself into». The house is so cute and its a historical landmark, but a spa? You’d never guess. Anyoils, when you walk in it’s the quietest, best smelling place in the whole wide world. You immediately start to relax. While you wait for your appointment you sit in these lovely lazy boy recliners and just marvel in the quietness. My grillerz and I were whispering and I felt we were being to loud. It’s heavenly.
When it was time for us to go back for our massages, they put us together in the same room. We totally weren’t expecting that, but we’re glad they did. We laid on the table in a totally zen room and when the ladies came in, they literally floated by. They were so very sweet, asked us where our problem areas were and then literally told us to «fly away». This was good, because neither myself or my friend like to talk during massages. I literally didn’t speak from start to finish. It was absolutely fantastic.
This was by far one the absolute BEST massages I have EVER had in my LIFE (are we understanding the CAPS yet?). She used the perfect amount of pressure and worked out all my seriously tense areas. Sometimes after a massage, I’m sore for days. However, I was only slightly sore and had much more mobility the next day… and the kinks were gone. Hooray! They also have lots of other spa options, mani/​pedis, facials, packages, the whole deal. Check out the website for all their services!
Next time I’m in Fredericksburg, I will DEF be bringing myself back to Above and Beyond. They were so sweet, accommodating, professional and simply fabulous.
