I come here way too often. We literally track when Rita’s opens for the season, and when they close — so that we aren’t caught unawares without a fix. I realize this is a chain, but I’d never had Rita’s until I moved to Frederick, so this location is the mother ship as far as I’m concerned. Since I’ve grown older and wiser, I’ve come to realize that some locations have an indoor area, which would be nice, but that doesn’t stand in the way of my love. I basically ask for lids and take this stuff home for Netflix. Okay, what do I order, you ask? The gelati, people! It’s an amazing mix of light, fresh ice with creamy custard. I prefer the fruit ices and vanilla custard, and in fact, I’m loving that they have sugar free ices and also natural fruit flavors now too. Last year there was an egg shortage, so they started serving a vanilla soft serve rather than a custard. I was actually okay with that — we kind of got hooked on the soft serve and were sad when it went away. The soft serve melted more quickly, though, so was messier and harder to take to go. Price-wise, I agree that like all ice cream, fro yo, etc., Rita’s isn’t cheap. I noticed that buying two quarts of the ice wasn’t much more than buying two large gelatis, though — something to consider. They don’t sell the custard in quarts, unfortunately. I don’t know what else to say. Those little waxy cups make me so frigging happy. Lines move quickly, and the staff is friendly. Will I probably go to Rita’s later today? Very likely.

This place is awful, the owner is the rudest person I’ve ever come across. Go to other Rita’s!

The first time I ever had Rita’s was when I was living in Jersey and I fell in love. However, I hadn’t had a chance to try it again in years, so when I saw that there was one in Frederick, I had to go there on a sunny day. Really it’s not much different from how it’s always been. You have your choice of custard, Italian ice, a combination of both(which I’ve never tried, but sounds gross TBH), and a couple of other random goodies. One thing I’ve always really liked about Rita’s is that if you ever get any toppings for your custard, the toppings aren’t overly pulverized like most other places. Last time I just got a vanilla custard with Reese’s peanut butter cup as a topping, and most of the chunks of peanut butter cup were huge! The only big negative to this particular Rita’s location(and for the reason for docking one star) is because it’s in a slightly sketch area. I mean if you’re someone who wants to swing by the bail bonds shop or pick up some Forties at the liquor store across the street after you and the kids get ice cream, then it might no be too bad. Otherwise, I suggest heading here during daylight hours.

Love this Rita’s walked up so ribs opened a wi die because they were busy. She asked if I rigid like to sample a flavor, I tried piña colada. It was so good so I got a reg size. It was $ 3.00 so inexpensive. Why haven’t I been bringing my kids here. It’s much cheaper than these ice cream shops. Costumer service excellent, fast service and a great ICEE. That didn’t break my pockets, I love it !!

While Rita’s Italian Ice TASTES great, the drawback from rating it higher is how much their costs have increased. I realize that they need to make money in order to stay in business but the price increase since Toni’s daughter took over has changed Rita’s from a «go as often as your want» treat to a treat that is not nearly consumed as often as we would like. In the interest of fairness, I don’t know if the significant price increase is corporate-wide or franschise-wide but let’s just say that it’s been unproportional to other entities. If the increase were more modest, I would definitely have rated this higher.

There is no need to rant about the divine taste of Rita. However, I was very upset with the one kid that works there. He is hyper and talks like he’s funny. He constantly insisted me to try the Cherry flavor, which I have tasted for a thousand times! It seemed like he wouldn’t let me go without ordering that Cherry Italian Ice so I decided to order one. too bad it was raining so I had to rush home. when I finally got to taste the ice cream, I was very disappointed. It was obvious that there was something wrong with the ice. That moment that I realized that there was a reason why he insisted me buying that flavor. I wouldn’t stop at Rita’s if I see him again!

Great Italian ice and I love the custard. They use to have strawberry which was amazing, but they no longer have that. I got watermelon last time and that was amazing too. Haven’t had a bad experience with this place yet and I’ve been twice.

Rita’s is perhaps the best place in Frederick to go for a dessert treat. Everything is delicious with so many flavors to chose from. You can get just plain Italian ice or you can add custard and make it a gelati. The staff are always friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable. I’ve been to other Rita’s locations and this one in Frederick tops them all.

This is my summer drug of choice. Sadly there is NO Rita’s in the state of California. So I finally came home not too long ago when this franchise was open and could not WAIT to get my hands on some. It had been three years since I had devoured Rita’s and I was WAY overdue. My favorite is a black cherry gelati with vanilla custard. Oh how the black cherry chunks make me salivate and how I crave vanilla custard(again, not found in California). We came here twice and I still didn’t get my fix before I had to go home. They seriously need to open one of these up in San Francisco. Please!

I’m always a fan of frozen custards. And they have the traditional choclate and vanilla with the right frozen constitancy. :) hmmm smoooth… wish I was hungrier. As for the location also it’s located right in a corner for easy parking. :) As for the ice??? I unfortunately have not tried it.

Best Ice In Town, No Wait the World! You cannot go wrong with any thing they have it all tastes great and esp when it is blazing hot out. Then it is great when the Temp is 40 °F or less.

Just thinking about Ritas makes me drool. The ice, the custard, the blendini — all favorites! I’m bummed they’re closed for winter, but it gives me something to look forward to!
