Let me start by saying, that yes they are lucky to have that corner which brings them business. As far ar the food, my wife & i think its way over rated. We love Asian food: Thai, Viet, Chinese, Japanese. But this place is far from awesome. I will begin from the outside in. 1– There is only parking for about 10 vehicles. If you dont watch were you park, you WILL get towed. 2– We called in advance to make reservations, we were told no wait time. But when we arrived, we stood waiting for 20mins. 3– When we were seated, the tables are too small for two people. Barely enough room for 2 drinks, 2 soups and two plates. 4– The menus are so old, that pictures are faded and they have age of dirt build up in the plastic page slide from people flipping the pages. Now about the food… –My wife order lemon grass shrimp. Now this is a dish she gets at other Phở restaurants. It had no color. About 5 shrimps. It was more like grass no lemon type of dish. Thumbs down! –I order a regular phở. It didnt sound right when i noticed extra meat was extra money. Well what it is, is that it only comes with 1 type of meat. Thats ridiculous. This is not a real phở soup. It was missing 5 types of meat. The meat it came with, look and tasted from the freezer. It had no cilantro. The bean sprouts were semi brown as if they were old. The broth had no color, no flavor. I had to put some housin sause and what looked like water down sriracha sause just so it looked eatable. With that said, the waiter came ones to ask us: How is everything? I replied: We’ve had better. He stood there for 3 seconds(awkward) then walked away. So this is my input of this«phở» place. People should travel a little more out of the area to find REAL good phở. Sorry this place is not it. I give it 4 thumbs down. And thats including my fat toes.

After driving by this place on several visits to West Chester, thought I would give it a try as it has good reviews and always seems busy judging by the parking lot. I’m always a little worried that the Vietnamese food will all be way too spicy, but they have plenty of mild stuff on the menu and the spicy items are marked«spicy». Beef with coconut sauce did not disappoint — yummy! Very fresh and good. And not too spicy or too peanutty. Very nice staff and pleasant interior if you want to eat in. You can also get it to go. Would definitely eat here again!

Hands down favorite restaurant in Frederick. Shrimp curry is amazing, salads are great, hot pots are awesome. Always friendly and accommodating.

They can do vegetarian, but no vegan or organic options They can be rather busy at lunch. One time I had to call the restaurant from my cell phone while I was waiting at my table because they forgot to take my tables orders. The parking can also be unfriendly if you were not early. Very limited. As well as the limited seating indoors, but they do have a few tables outdoors

A go to place for us. The caramel fish and pork are serious. Not much parking, but we live a few blocks away. Pretty good phở, especially the spicy beef.

I recently got take out from here and I can tell you that it comes piping hot. It was so hot when I went to eat it(about 10 mins after leaving) I couldn’t even put it on lap. I got the curry tofu. The curry was good, not amazing. The sauce was fairly thick and plentiful. It had a good coconut flavor, but needed some citrus or something. I think some lime would have gone far. The tofu was nicely fried and fluffy in texture. My meal came with a side of rice which wasn’t too sticky. Overall a pretty good value for the area and seemed that it would be consistent based on the interaction when I arrived. If you have a craving for Vietnamese, this is a good spot.

I always go for the hot and spicy beef phở when eating at Vietnamese phở houses. The beef phở here is good but doesn’t match that of Viet Gourmet’s hot spicy beef phở, located on Rosemont Av. next to Callahan’s Seafood. The quality of the meat, flavor, and noodles seem superior at Viet Gourmet.

A must place to visit. Great service and hospitality that complements the fabulous cuisine. Each server is well verse on how the food is prepared to help the customer has the best experience with their selection. To date, the Phở Pots are some of my favorites dishes. Do not forget to have the chef adjust the pepper to your personal taste

Came here on a rainy cold night for some good phở. And let me tell you, it was damn good phở! I ordered the chicken and shrimp phở and it definitely hit the spot. The place was very crowded(since it is fairly small) but seems like a pretty popular Vietnamese joint/hole in the wall place. Who knew Fredrick, Maryland would have such great phở?! All of the other food looked great as well! I will definitely be coming back if I am in the area again, 4 stars from me!

What a wonderful hidden gem! Not a very fancy place but the food is outstanding. I was introduced to this place by a co-worker who is Vietnamese so that alone was enough to know it was going to be good. He claims they cook like his mom! I’ve not tried many items on the menu but the house Phở is always great. If you are planning going for lunch you had better get there before 11:30 if you want a seat! Great and friendly service, I highly recommend.

Food is super delicious and fresh. The staff are very friendly. I had the young papaya salad and my husband had the beef with lemongrass. It was cooked perfectly and actually they go well together so we shared. I am a happy camper and to top it off the total bill for 2 entrees one appetizer two soft drinks and a coffee was less than $ 37 including tax already! Awesome!

Definitely a legit place for Vietnamese. I’m always surprised by how adventurous people are when it comes to eating in in Frederick. This place was bumping when I showed up for an early dinner. And it’s definitely on the ethnic side; if you’re coming here expecting the flavors of Asian-American influenced cuisine, you’re going to be in for a rough ride. Started off with a Thai iced tea and chicken satay. The tea was sweetened and spiced perfectly. I appreciated that the chicken satay was served with yellow curry poured over it rather than just simply marinated. If the curry they used for the satay is anything like the curry dinner on the menu, I’ll definitely get that next time. My main course was the spicy beef with flat noodles; really tasty and probably the best dish out of everyone sitting at my table. Although everyone’s food was good. I finished off the meal with the«chocolate truffle» dessert. A vanilla ice cream encased in a chocolate ice cream and then dusted with cocoa powder. It tasted awesome and the presentation was beautiful. The staff was extremely courteous and very attentive. The owner himself kept coming in to check on us and make sure everything is fine. As soon as any staff member noticed an empty glass, they were prompt in getting refills. I can always appreciate good service. 5⁄5.

Excellent! The seafood and or beef Phở is quite delicious! Not well know but worth the find! I have lived in Frederick for year and was just introduced to this place this year. Wow I have missed out! Spring rolls and pork dumplings were very nice. Pad tai really good. Fantastic service on top of things. I go at least once a month now

Had to go back to try some more dishes. I convinced my kids to join as well and they were not disappointed. I caved and had the phở tai again… cause it just hits the spot every time. We did the combo appetizer this time… and we ate everything! My husband opted for the whole fried flounder… and omg was it delish… a little pricey… but we were forewarned… and it was totally worth it. Just the right amount of flavor and breading… not greasy at all. and the sauce they serve on the side is something straight from heaven. My son got the jumbo fried shrimp… sauce on the side… cause he can be picky… and ended up dipping all his shrimp. The girls opted for a small phở tai without the fixings… and loved them. The staff was so generous to make my little one some training chop sticks… so sweet of them to do that even when they are super busy. Despite the very busy restaurant, our server Kelly was amazing… she gave better service than I’ve even had in upscale white tablecloth restaurants. She definitely earned her tip that night and hope to get her again next time. I will have to try hard to not eat here multiple times a week!

There are few Vietnamese restaurants to choose from in Frederick and this was the second I’ve tried. The taste of the food was good and comparable to others in the DMV, but the portions we’re tiny. I ordered bun, which I’m used to being served in a bowl with plenty of noodles and vegetables… Not so much at lucky corner. The bun came on a plate, a third of which was taken up by the cup of nuc mom. Same with the Phở. The regular size is that of a small bowl at other locations, the large is that of a regular size, etc. I’ve dined Vietnamese in cities from Seattle to NY, and while the flavor was not disappointing, the portions were(as if those in Frederick won’t know any better… And perhaps they don’t). On to the next one…

Place is crowed during lunch time, maybe due to the cold weather everybody wants some hot soup. We stopped by on our way to Gettysburg. Phở is pretty good, Pad Thai is good as well. Spring rolls could use some more vegi and less rice noodle. Overall a great place for Vietnamese food in Frederick.

This is the some of the best Vietnamese food I have ever eaten. The phở is really good, but the traditional Viet hot pots are my favorite here, the pork being the best. The beef and grape leaves are to die for. They take a bit of time because they are made to order, but worth the wait. We usually stop in weekly. I try to get something different everytime we go. I have yet to eat something that isn’t delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and make each visit pleasurable. Highly, highly recommended.

Came with a group of four for lunch after hearing many good things. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. For appetizers we had the duck potstickers and wontons; both were tasty but not the best I’ve ever had. We tried several different entrees at various spice levels, including the chefs special chicken, duck at the corner, and beef curry. I like a fair amount of heat in my food but being with a group nothing we ordered was overly spicy. The duck was crispy and delicious; most surprising to me was the beef curry. I tend to stick with chicken or seafood as my protein of choice in Asian cuisine, but the beef curry was excellent — probably my favorite dish. It was incredibly flavorful and the curry was thick and rich. I would definitely have it again; I’d also like to go back and try the phở. That seemed to be the dish most people were enjoying on my particular visit, and it smelled great. As a side note, be mindful of the nightmare that is parking around this restaurant. We had a difficult time with that, and even the one available handicap spot didn’t offer my grandmother much room to get out because the spots are so tight. Other than parking, this is an excellent lunch spot!

I used to come to the diner that used to be in this building with my dad when I was little and have been coming back through all its iterations since. Lucky Corner is absolutely the best! Highlights include the Singapore noodles, Vermicelli w/Pork and Spring Roll, and the chicken fried rice(a seemingly simple choice but really really delicious). I usually go for the vermicelli — the ingredients are always super fresh and plentiful and the pork is cooked and seasoned to perfection. I have been eating this since they opened and never get tired of it. I used to order the curry chicken and curry tofu often… not sure why I stopped! Both have phenomenal flavor in a really rich sauce. I prefer to the tofu of these two(the chicken could be a little dry), which comes with potatoes and onions. We always get an order of summer rolls to start and sometimes a papaya salad… both tasty and lighter options! My parents love both the veggie and the chicken hot pots which boast great deep flavors and a solid quantity of food. Lucky Corner is an awesome place and I’m sure I’ll be coming back here for years!

What an adorable little treasure! Yummy Phở place in the middle of Frederick. It was a cold, rainy Wednesday, and I was looking for something hot and soupy for lunch. I got there a little before noon and was sat immediately. The place definitely got busier as the lunch crowd came in. I ordered the Phở Dat Biet house special in the«regular» size. The broth had really nice flavor. Totally hit the spot on such a dreary day. The meat was exactly as you would expect/hope for. I kept seeing delicious-looking dishes come out of the kitchen, so I’ll definitely be coming back to this place!

My favorite meal in Frederick is the Maher Phở. Its the comfort meal I insist on after a terrible commute up 270. It does get crazy busy though, and even going in the off times during the week can have a wait. Totally worth it though.

I love love love this place! It is a quaint little joint, and I have no complaints! The service is always excellent. The servers are very knowledgeable, and very very friendly. Absolutely everything I have tried, I really really enjoy from rice dishes, mango chicken, duck, curries, grilled pork, coconut beef… I could really go on and on. I moved away, but when I visit I always try to stop in. Now my boyfriend travels with me, and he always has cravings for this place too. I miss it!

3.5 stars. My table ordered some chicken entrée dishes and seemed to enjoy them. I ordered a thai iced tea, the summer rolls and the phở tai. I also tried some of my gf’s crispy crab meat cream cheese wonton. I thought the wonton was ok, but nothing to write home about. My gf liked them. The summer roll was decent, but not mind blowing. Seeing as this is a Vietnamese restaurant, I won’t take points off for a mediocre thai iced tea. The phở broth(most important) was tasty and the large was a good size. The beef that came with it appeared that it came out of a freezer and stuck together. It was also not as tender as I am used to. They have impostor sriracha sauce in a serving container in lieu of the notorious rooster bottle. The horror. The phở overall was above average mainly due to the broth, but nowhere near the best I’ve had. Lucky Corner may not have the freshest ingredients and their menu is over ambitious, but the meal was overall enjoyable and I would not rule out a return visit.

1 star for the service. The server was too busy conversating with the table next to use about how he knew them from school. Mean while we don’t have water and waiting to order. This goes on for 5 minutes TWICE! Food was just ok, nothing to write home about. Wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t exciting.

My mom recently moved to the area and we were wandering around downtown Frederick craving Vietnamese. Found this on Unilocal and decided to try it out. Meh First let me begin by saying, I might just be spoiled because I live in the DC area where there is a massive abundance of Vietnamese options. This place is overpriced. The service is very good — I give them that. Very warm, welcoming and good. My fiancé had the combination meat phở, which she said was good. The noodle versus meat ratio was a little off, and too filling because it was mainly all noodle. My mom had the seafood phở and she felt the same way about the ratio. Her seafood was also not very fresh. I had the grilled shrimp bun bowl without the bun — and just extra salad. It actually wasn’t extra salad. I ended up with a small plate that looked like an appetizer. Some grilled shrimp on a small bed of lettuce. Super disappointed, and it was over $ 13. So a $ 13 appetizer. We also ordered summer rolls and crispy vegetarian rolls to share. Both were standard. The summer rolls were better than the crispy rolls. I don’t forsee us coming back. It wasn’t worth it. Food wasn’t awful but surely not great.

This place is wonderful! As a previous reviewer recently wrote, there is not one bad thing about this restaurant! I have been eating food from this restaurant, both as a seated customer and as a take-out customer, for at least 8 or 9 years now, and every meal has been simply excellent! In my opinion, this is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant of all of that genre that are located in or near Frederick, MD. The menu has a wide range of offerings, the food is prepared impeccably, and quantities are very good. Best of all, prices are very reasonable! Staffers are competent and friendly. If you are not familiar with this place, the restaurant is very small and the seating area is small and quite comfortable. I personally prefer visiting this restaurant as a sit-down customer only about an hour or two prior to dinnertime, or at other low-traffic hours, so that the dining room is largely empty. By the way, the parking lot is very tiny, and can fit, at best, perhaps 9 to 10 cars, but there are almost always plenty of curbside parking spaces easily available both on Market Street and on 7th Street, which is the side street which crosses Market just south of the restaurant. Whatever you do, DONOTEVENTHINK of parking in the spacious paved parking lot located directly across Market Street from Lucky Corner. That is a private parking lot reserved only for residents of two small nearby apartment buildings and for customers of two nearby healthcare-related business located on W. 7th Street. So, do not even think of parking there! Luckily, that private parking lot is well-marked with signs warning that it is a private parking lot, and warning that violators will be towed! In closing, a word of warning: The food from this place is so good that it is addictive! I am not joking! I live a considerable distance from Frederick, and it involves an almost-30 minute drive one way for me to get to this restaurant, and yet I find it worthwhile to make the drive to Frederick just to eat food at this eatery, or to pick up take-out food!

Mmmm, this place is yummy. As I always point out, I am no expert on authenticity but this place seems like they have it. They definitely have the delicious factor down. I opted to go out of my comfort zone and went with this seafood soup. There were some very odd balls of crab meat and whatnot in there and I had to ask what another component was but you know what? It was really good! That broth was amazing. My favorite item was the grilled beef rolls. I could have easily eaten those as my meal(get 2 orders if you go that route). They were basically just really tender pieces of beef stuffed with lemongrass. I think the marinade must be what really makes them yummy. Mmmm, seriously, try those. Anyways, can’t wait to go back and try other menu items. I’m sure their phở is delicious.

This is up there with the best PHO I’ve ever had. Service was incredibly friendly(which is not typical for many PHO places) and a full menu is offered, plus beer! The soup broth is very flavorful and the meat is the most tender of any Vietnamese place I’ve ever tried. I usually have to order meat rare in places just to avoid a leather toughness, but this meat was excellent. We also tried a summer roll appetizer which had pork sausage in it, a tempura stick for crunch and a few herbs and noodles. It was excellent.(Nem Nuong Rolls) I really don’t have a bad thing to say about the place. I’d love to try everything on the menu but I know I’ll end up getting soup every time. There are 3 places in Frederick that I know of serving PHO. This is the best, followed by Viet Aroma and then TNT bringing up the rear. All good, but Lucky Corner stands clearly above them both. Prices were also fair. A large bowl was $ 8.95, a regular was $ 7.95 and they had a small bowl for I think $ 5.50. Iced coffee was the pre-made variety but it was a large portion served in a pint glass. Coming in at $ 3 it was much better then the places that charge more for a small glass of coffee packed with ice. So, top 3PHO places I’ve found in the DC area are Lucky Corner, PHO75(Rockville), and Caphe Banh Mi(Alexandria). I think they’re all tied for first. ;) Lucky Corner has free wi-fi.
