This place is gross, outdated and the whole membership thing is a scam! I bought a package of 4 personal training sessions and after I met with the trainer the first time they told me that it counted for two because we talked about my goals and stretched, which are two different activities(?) Then for 75 minutes they charged me the equivalent of 120 minutes. When I tried to cancel they told me that only way I cancel personal training sessions is only if I can prove that I am permanently disabled!!! Even with a letter from my doctor they didn’t let me cancel and they kept my money. Of course, this is not mentioned to you when they are pushing you to sign up. And even though I had a month to month membership I still had to pay $ 35 to stop it. I will never set foot on this place or any other Gold’s Gym!

This gym transitioned from Fitness First to Gold’s Gym shortly after I moved out of Frederick. While admittedly, I should have been faster to cancel, around April of this year I stopped by to check on whether I still had a membership here and was told that my name wasn’t in their system(so no membership.) That’s fine — I was living out of town, and didn’t have time to drive 45+ minutes to go to a gym in a shopping mall. Today I saw on my statement a bill from Gold’s Gym, and discovered(to my shock and anger) that not only did I have a membership there, but they’ve charged me hundreds of dollars over the past year for this membership. When I called to cancel /complain /ask them to refund the money for this month’s membership, they told me, «Oops, sorry about that… But you can’t have your money back.» Crappy customer service, lying staff, thieving corporate policies. Thanks a bunch, Gold’s Gym. I can promise you I won’t be back, and will recommend that none of my friends consider signing up for your hand-directly-in-customer’s-wallet memberships.
