Duet With Music

This is the ONLY place you should go for renting/​servicing instruments for school. I cannot say enough great things about the staff. Especially Brandon Fingerman. Every time we are in there… be it for a tuning or music purchase… they are FANTASTIC. I’ve never experienced anything but prompt attention when we walk in.
No upselling, honest about recommendations with young musicians, LOVE them. AND they are not a chain.: }

First ‘ll say that I’ve had good experiances there. I hesitate to write a bad review on a single experiance so I waited. The next time I went in to just get a music stand for our daughter. I guess I wasn’t hip enough for the clerks. I waited while one of the guy discussed his band with the chick from the DQ down the way and how great they are. When another clerk showed up he proceeded to open boxes and ignored me.
Finally the up and comming rock star prodded the other guy to help me. He was clearly put off and was extremely rude. If they weren’t the only game in town I would have gone elsewhere. From now on, I’ll buy over the internet. Oh and good luck with your band dude, I hope you sell out that 10 seat gig you are planning.
It’s a shame they are the go to location for Frederick County Public Schools.

Great music store! Lots of instruments, materials and teachers — we really like Dan Haight for guitar lessons. Everyone seems to know their stuff, but are down to earth and very helpful.

Today we went in and got excellent service. We were there for quite awhile and it wasn’t on our list of things to do today at all. 2 of my teens each were looking to add to their guitar collections and upgrade. The sales person was NO pressure and was knowledgeable and patient with us which was totally appreciated since our 6 year old didn’t want to be there. We would definitely go back and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a musical instrument! Pricing was very acceptable for us and they worked out some great discounts (yes — we bought 2 guitars, new amps, and a few accessories)… THANK YOU!

We were getting married in April 2008 at Ceresville Mansion in Frederick and needed a rental piano and piano stand for the ceremony. Duet with Music looked to be like the best place to go. While the equipment did the job for the event it’s been nothing but headaches and wasted money since.
The morning after the wedding I returned the equipment with my wife’s brother. We hauled everything into the store and a young store employee looked it over and said we were all clear and good to go. Had I reviewed this store that day I would have given it ⁴⁄₅ stars. As far as we knew everything was returned in excellent condition.
While were were on our honeymoon my wife received calls from Eric at Duet with Music asking her to call back. Once we got back to town we checked in an he said that a foot was missing from the piano stand and that we had to find the foot or else pay for the stand. At this point all of the rental cars had been returned and the venue was cleaned. We checked with the venue and the rental car company and nobody found a anonymous black plastic tube.
I told the company that I was happy to purchase a replacement foot but Eric insisted over several months of telephone conversations that I pay for the entire stand. He claimed to not be able to buy a replacement foot. Incredulous, I called the company myself and found out they do sell replacement feet. One customer service rep even offered to send me one for free (!). I relayed this info to Eric and he still was unable to get a replacement foot.
In the end, the store charged me for a new stand even though I have no piano and no need for this stand. I’m disgusted at this whole petty story and how a little $ 2 plastic foot turned into a $ 40 piano stand.

(This happened a while after the first review) Oh yeah, and now my son works there.
