Bonchon chicken is just good. If you haven’t had Bonchon yet, I highly recommend it. You can tell this place is still getting everything together as their«bar» area is barren. They’re apparently awaiting for the liquor board to approve their license. That’s ok though. I’ve not had a lot of the items on the menu outside of their wings because I dont know that I’d ever get tired of their wings. The boneless wings/tenders are great for kids as well. My one complaint is that I don’t think their staff is very service-oriented or friendly. I have kids and just wanted the boneless wings without sauce on them(wasn’t sure if my kid would like the sauce or not) and I mean they really gave me a hard time for just wanting plain boneless wings. It was like I was asking them to make something that wasn’t on the menu.

We ordered delivery and the food came extremely cold. I ordered the bulgogi and the meat used was extremely low quality. Plus, for the $ 20+ price tag, there was barely any meat in the bulgogi and it was mostly onions/filler vegetables. The dumplings were similarly bad. The coating was extremely thick and did not taste like any Korean or Japanese dumplings I’ve had in the past. I usually eat authentic Asian food, so if you like authentic/good quality korean BBQ, stay far away.

The chicken strips in the spicy sauce are amazing. We ordered from here for an office lunch and everyone agreed that the chicken strips were even better than the wings, although apparently the wings were amazing as well. Definitely recommend this place!

This place is awesome! I got the spicy chicken bowl and it was way too spicy and I couldn’t eat it. My waitress said she will make another one that’s not spicy and she didn’t charge me. She was so sweet and she asked how the food was once I got the new order. The new order food was delicious. I will definitely be coming here again.

Reviews got me to go in here. Looks like a chain(and it is) along the lines of Panda Express or something like that. However, the food is delicious. Kimchi was very good as was the Bulgogi. I eat a lot of Korean and this was much better than most. Place was empty and the only problem I had was my over zealous waitress coming by repeatedly asking if I was done when I still had a ton food on my plate. After the second ‘no Im not done’ youd think she got it and stop asking. She came by 2 more times. Once done and all the food was actually gone, I had to track he down as she was no where to be found. Nice enough but get the hint.

Stick with wings or tenders. Get hot with extra sauce if you like that«back of your head sweat». Bulgogi sucked big time and I try it everywhere… stick with what put them on the map(chicken) and you can’t go wrong. Be careful though… I’ve gained 10lbs since they are now in my way home… their chicken is crack. Addicted yet.

Holy hell!!! This ish is crazy good. Where have they been all of my life. The soy garlic drum sticks are seriously like nothing I have ever had before. They said it is fried chicken… but if you are looking for over breaded Popeyes-ish chicken… then just take yo ass to Popeyes. If you want crazy crispy, super flavorful chicken with amazing seasoned fries or maybe some rice and edamame… come check this place out! I will be back very soon!!! Warning…can be a bit pricey. Don’t forget to check in for a 10% discount.

Finally some Korean in Frederick! My husband and I went in this afternoon to try out this location. We usually go to Rockville TC or Falls Church but so far I’d say this location is our new favorite. Staff is friendly and the menu has a lot more to offer. I miss the seasoned fries but I am in LOVE with the dumplings. You can get them with the wing sauce! But besides my new obsession, our waitress Josephine, was very sweet and attentive. Even though we are veterans at this, she was very informative and quick. It wasn’t busy when we went so we didn’t have to wait as long for our food. Started off with the dumplings in the soy garlic sauce(LOVE!), Ken got the bibimbap(very good but came out super hot so don’t burn yourself and mix it well so the rice doesn’t burn) and we split a 20 piece half and half strips. The chicken wasn’t as crispy as it usually is but OMG it was fresh and juicy. So tender and fresh when usually the strips are pounded flat and are sometimes dry. Totally can’t wait to go back and try more!

My cousin had this«crack» chicken(read: addictive) when he was stationed in Korea about ten years ago. Idk if it was BonChon but he definitely knew what it was when I told him where I was ordering. This place absolutely delivers! Got the 8 piece chicken tender lunch combo with half spicy and half soy garlic. Pros: Mmm crispy, tasty chicken, battered and fried to perfection. Sauces were awesome. Hot is HOT, only for those with burning desires. Soy garlic was yummy, little sweet little soy, little garlic, major flavor explosion. Portions. For $ 10 i got 8 tenders that were larger than normal plus a side of kimchi. More than enough food. Cons: 1. Kimchi wasnt real kimchi, it doesn’t taste fermented, tangy or bubbly like it should. It’s good, but not great. I like authentic tho. 2. I didnt have enough money to get anything else. All in all, I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves crack chicken.

this chicken was extremely delicious! crispy, sweet and salty, hot, glorious. i liked all of the sauces, and the spicy was not overwhelmingly spicy/too spicy to eat. just… perfect spicy. the picked radish it came with was also really delicious. i would like to eat the bonchon chicken every day! i ate there, so i don’t know how well it holds up if you get it to go. hot out of the fryer = amazing. i will say that the music playing in the restaurant was pretty loud and annoying but probably most people wouldn’t notice.

I originally gave the Bonchon in Germantown a 3 star, pretty much because of the price, as well as the atmosphere being pretty cold. But this new location in Frederick has pretty much fixed all of those issues. A nice black and red motif with a bar(although it wasn’t stocked yet), a more robust menu(quite a few things that weren’t at the Germantown location), a friendly staff, and really good lunch special prices. I probably wouldn’t come here for dinner because I still think that’s asking way too much for Korean food, but I was very pleased with the affordability of the lunch menu. Once again I did fried rice, mandu, and a half and half combo of spicy and soy garlic chicken, and both were good as usual. The chicken is not exactly like what you’d actually get in Korea, but it’s at least different enough to set itself a part from other fried chicken places. This place is definitely worth checking out.

Ok this place is awesome! It just opened two days ago and is the place to go. Yes it’s Korean Fried Chicken. But this is some of the best chicken you will get. The chicken comes in two sauces, and if you like HOT&SPICY then the double flame Spicy Sauce is up your flamethrower. The soy garlic sauce is a solid flavor profile with just the right amount of flavorful soy and garlic notes. We got the 20 piece strips and it was plenty of food for the three of us. The Steamed rice, Kimchi Slaw(a spicy twist on slaw) and Kimchi(a Korean staple) are rock solid sides to get and eat with the chicken. They have a good selection of starters and other Korean dishes to try. If you want Wings, drums or strips or a combo of wings and drums you gotta come to Bonchon Chicken. 2÷14÷2016 Valentine’s Day and time to eat Bonchon Chicken! After a great day with all the sweets it’s great to eat a solid meal at Bonchon. The Shrimp Shumi was delicious pan fried and the strips with garlic sauce just what the doctor ordered on a cold day. Hot cooked to perfection Korean Fried Chicken. So head on over and enjoy a great meal, just for two or for 22 it’s all good at Bonchon!

Holy inconsistent spice levels, Batman! We had a takeout order of half and half wings, half and half pot stickers, bulgogi, and kimchee. The gf took a bite out of one of the spicy pot stickers, and immediately turned bright red and started coughing. This is a woman who gladly signs release forms and takes hot wing challenges. So, like the masochist I am, I tried one and promptly breathed fire. After we downed a giant bottle of grapefruit soda and a Brita pitcher of water(damn us for cleaning out the fridge earlier and throwing out all the dairy!), we were giving suspicious side-eye to the wings — neither of us wanting to tackle them for fear of being kicked in the teeth by spice again. The gf finally armed herself with a random bottle of BBQ sauce and tried one. Spicy, but nowhere near the molten lava level of the pot stickers. The second spicy wing was hotter than the first, but still relatively tame. It was a total crapshoot as to how spicy each wing was, but none compared to the pot stickers. Thank you, baby jesus. The bulgogi was loaded with onions. More onions than anything else, in fact. Really not worth the $ 16 price. The kimchee was decent. As far as the soy and garlic sauce on the other half of the wings — that was pretty awesome and was consumed very quickly. What was weird was that there was a full-sized drumstick at the bottom of the box. It wasn’t a *bad* thing ’cause, hey, more chicken, but weird nonetheless.

Omg it’s here. I am so excited we finally have bon chon in Frederick. I’ve been there twice in the past week alone. It’s totally habit forming. That said– the reason you go to Bön chon is for the chicken. Bulgogi dish isn’t worth the money– the meat is chewy and for $ 17 it’s not a great value. But the chicken, oh the chicken. Hot is HOT and not for the faint of heart. But the soy garlic is amazing. They know their way around a fryer… And the batter they use is light… It’s just perfection. Even their fries are crispier than normal fries… Don’t hesitate to try the chicken sliders as well– coleslaw is the perfect complement to this chicken, oddly enough.

So this is our first time eating at Bonchon, first impression? The place is modern and clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the lunch special chicken strips half spicy and half soy garlic with sides of pickled radish, rice and kimchi coleslaw. The chicken was crisp and had just the right amounts of sauce. Kimchi Coleslaw was something new for us but became an instant favorite. If you like coleslaw try this kicked up version. Overall great experience and will recommend and return!!!

BONCHONHASBLESSEDFREDERICK *Bows Down* I’ll keep this super short & simple for all those that are curious. –Bön Chon is KOREANFRIEDCHICKEN aka the REALKFC. –Wings are DOUBLEFRIED to achieve a candied like shell, hands down the crispiest wings you’ll ever get in this part of MD. — there’s TWO wing sauces, Soy Garlic & Spicy. Spicy is SPICYASFUHHHH, both are great. Go with the half: half choice so you can decided. –Wings are served with pickled radish(smells funky) tastes amazing, it’s the equivalent of celery to American wings. –Wings are HUGE compared to other wing joints. –Bulgogi here is STELLAR, get it. –Gyoza is TASTY, get it. Just eat everything here. There’s nothing that could possibly be NOTTASTY. This location seems to have more offerings than the Rockville TC center = BONUS. Looks like the bar is coming soon, get ready for wings AND soju.

Just found out that Bonchon Frederick is now open as of the 19th! Time for some korean fried chicken gainz! The wings/drumsticks/strips are banging! They just opened on the 19th; and I had no idea until today. The establishment is still hiring and still getting their staff together but regardless the people be working up some magic up in that kitchen!

I am extraordinarily happy that Frederick now has its very own Bonchon. I absolutely adore Korean cuisine but GogiBop was the only game in town for awhile. Let’s face it, fusion will only satisfy some cravings. Bonchon’s specialty is fried chicken. Double-fried, crispy goodness. You can choose from drumsticks, wings or strips. There’s also a wing/drumstick combo option. Bonchon offers 2 sauces — spicy or soy garlic. You can have all of your chicken in one flavor or do a mix. They also have more traditional Korean dishes such as tteokbokki, bibimbap, bulgogi and japchae. Oh, and kimchi, of course. Takoyaki is on the menu too, even though it’s Japanese. I can’t speak to the wait service yet as I ordered carry-out today before the blizzard but the interior of the restaurant was clean and modern. I’m looking forward to dining in soon.
