The food was horrible, don’t waste your money here, food was cold and oily and the hostess was rude and seemed bothered to work… I reviewed them on Facebook right before we left and she had the nerve to come out and say something to me about it… She also posted our plates after we left, on Facebook… Can you believe it??! She also need to have proper hygiene if she’s going to serve food to people… Should have figured out not to eat there since the place was empty… Horrible!!!

I’m not sure why this place got good reviews, but I will never be back. As soon as we walked in, the waitress was completely rude and acted like we were inconveniencing her that we were there. We have never been there before and needed to look over the menu. She acted annoyed that we didn’t know what we wanted as soon as we walked in. The food was cold and didn’t taste very good. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

We stopped here for lunch while heading home from Knott’s Berry Farm. Food was good and server was very friendly. Glad we stopped by as this place is few miles off the I-5 corridor. Thanks Unilocal

Not the best breakfast I’ve ever had but probably the best breakfast in the area. We had the southwest omelette, pancakes, sourdough toast and bacon. All good! Bacon definitely met my standards! Pancakes were good but nothing special. Omelette was good also. Very friendly service! My coffee was never empty!

We were so glad we decided to try big Johns. Food was delicious. The people were so nice to accommodate 15 of us. This will be our stop coming back from Disneyland every time.

Definitely worth getting off of the freeway for. Great potato pancakes, and good service. All the GPSs find are fast foods. This place has good quality, great portions and is served in a clean cozy dining room. We found it thanks to Unilocal

This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. It is a typical American diner. We have lived in lockwood, Frazier park for 7 years. It is our to go place especially for breakfast. There are homemade chicken fried steak and biscuit. Large portion and reasonable price. The restaurant does not serve dinner anymore, so the hours is limited until 2:30pm.

My step sister Lorrie worked here for quite a while and I came in to visit her and have breakfast on many occasions and it is a quaint little mountain restaurant that is great for breakfast the portions are huge and there’s just a nice atmosphere overall, always enjoy this place

Food is excellent, however, the woman who owns this place should just retire from the customer service business altogether. I will NEVER go back because of her attitude. She acted like I was bothering her for a take out order while she was reading the paper, didn’t know how to smile or say thank you. Needless to say, we had a few choice words. Food was great but not worth ruining my day over.

Always amazing. Go here on Sunday mornings. They are usually busy. But always quick with seating and getting food out.

3.5 stars rounded up Maybe I’m just lousy at georgraphy(and math and science and history), but I never knew Frazier Park & the other small surrounding cities in this area existed. Driving down gravely roads to get to Big John’s Mountain Grill felt like our destination was in BFE(butt-fucking Egypt for you innocents.) Where the hell am I?! I’m in an American diner with old school screen doors & hearty portions, perfect for peckish road trippers. We ordered: – strawberry milkshake: I stole a few sips & thoroughly enjoyed the strong fruity flavor – side of hash browns: lots of crispy surface area – roast beef & green chile sandwich for him, which he liked – big john’s southwest scramble: just the flavor profile I wanted! I substituted bacon for shredded beef & it came out nice & crispy. Highly recommended on your drive to or from LA.

Still a good place for breakfast and they are now open for dinner on Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. We always eat off the senior menu as we are light eaters.

This quickly became the Sunday spot for my dad and I. The coffee is hot and not aggressively acidic. The portions are massive yet retain quality. The servers are real and without the manufactured façade of eternal joy positive vibes. Big Johns makes food and makes it well. The prices are fair and the atmosphere pleasant. I will continue to return here Sunday after Sunday.

This is an excellent restaurant. If you are traveling on the 5 through the Grapevine and you have a hankering for something good, go to Big John’s. I had Big John’s Southwest Scramble. It was pretty good. The tortilla strips on the bottom of the scramble are a little different, but they provide a nice texture. My mom had the Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich, which is made with french toast! Most excellent. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice.

With the exception of pancakes that had a dry texture that were a bit off(for my palate at least), an otherwise cozy restaurant with hearty and delicious food! Big John’s Big Platter Breakfast for under $ 10… your choice of pancakes, french toast, or biscuit w/gravy, 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and hash brown or home fries(+ add a coffee and you’re set). Plenty of other typical American breakfast fare that I’ve yet to try… Big John’s Mountain Grill is a homely restaurant: relaxing, comforting, and clean(including the restrooms: D). It makes you feel at home, when you’re away from home. Will def revisit this spot when I’m in the area again.

I try to remind myself that 4.5 stars in a small town is not the same as 4.5 stars in LA. This place is famous for their coffee cake. It’s freshly baked, and still steaming when it comes out to your table. If you order only 1 thing at this place… order the coffee cake. It’s easily the best that I’ve ever had. If you come in a larger party, make sure that at least one person orders it so you can all try it. With that being said, the rest of the experience was a little lackluster. Both my friend and I thought the food was just average, a little pricey for what we got. I ordered: Corned Beef Hash w/2 eggs & Rye Toast: The toast was awesome. I always love when the butter is salted! :) The flavor of the corned beef was really good. Not too salty, it definitely tasted like they made the corned beef themselves. Unfortunately that’s all the kind words I have to say about it. The portion size of the corned beef hash was TINY!!! My order of potatoes was half the size of the amount of potatoes that my friend received in her order of home fries. Secondly the amount of corned beef was laughable. It looked like maybe two average slices of corned beef had been chopped up and mixed in with their home fries. The final straw for me was that the hash wasn’t seared on to griddle. I like my hash to have some crispy bits from the griddle but this version lacked that texture. Big John’s is an A-ok place. I didn’t think it was bad but I will try some other places in the area to try to find something better.

This place is great; it would be unfair to dock them one star for being in the middle of freaking nowhere. Everyone here was really nice; I got nervous from previous reviews that mention this is a «locals only» type of place, but when we went, it seemed to have a good mix of people. I came here on a Sunday morning around 10am. Service was really attentive and the coffee was fantastic. Our waiter(boo, didn’t catch his name, but he’s the super nice bearded guy with tats), was great at giving recommendations and making sure our drinks were full up. He had boxes ready when he saw we didn’t finish our food and provided great service overall. I ordered a skillet(boo, didn’t remember the name for this, either!), but it was«mexican-style» with salsa & sour cream. It had seasoned potatoes, mixed with some ground beef, peppers and onions, and topped with eggs. This is the perfect case where something so bad can be so good! The skillet is pretty large; I definitely could not finish it, especially with a side of the homemade biscuits and gravy that came with it. It made for a really great re-breakfast the next day. If I’m ever in Frazier Park again(?!) this will be a definite breakfast stop!
