Love this place. Right down the street from Fraser Hockey Rink. We stop here frequently after my son plays hockey. Pizza is really delicious and doesn’t take forever to get. Also great heated up the next day. Salads are super fresh and large. Lots of room for bigger parties. High top tables and booths. Definitely would recommend. Also super kid friendly.

We’ve given this place a few shots now and each time, they’ve missed! The pizza isn’t bad, but it’s fairly mediocre; nothing to write home about. I’d almost rather have bad pizza than forgettable pizza… The crust was dry and the sauce was pretty flavorless. My biggest gripe is with the service. Each time we’ve eaten here, we were only checked on once and I was never able to get a fresh beer. It doesn’t take much effort to run over to your one table; and, I would have spent more money on the bill and given a bigger tip! I swear it’s the location though; the last three places that have been here in the past 8 years have closed. Maybe they’ll get another shot one day, but until then, I’d have to say stay away!

I visited Papa’s Pizza Bar on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 6:30pm with a date. We were immediately greeted at the door by a very friendly server named Daniel and a server in-training who’s name I don’t recall. He helped us choose an open booth and when we were seated took our drink orders immediately. We were brought menu’s when our drinks were served and we ordered a supreme pizza and 2 salads. Our salads were served before our pizza as we requested and they were fantastically prepared, fresh and delicious. Our pizza arrived promptly right after we finished our salads. Daniel our server made sure everything was good with our salads, brought us our drinks(we stayed long because it was a blind date and we were talking a lot. lol). The pizza was absolutely delicious. The entire restauraunt was immaculately clean and welcoming. Now I had read some Unilocal reviews about bad service at this establishment, but I’m here to tell you the service was magnificent, the food was delicious and the restaurant’s interior is beautiful to behold! I will no doubt be returning and I highly recommend patronizing this fantastic restaurant/bar. You won’t be disappointed. Great service at Papa’s Pizza bar.

Went back and tried it again. Pizza and wings were good, so was the Greek salad. Service has improved. You have to set your expectations. This is a bar that serves food, not the other way around. There’s some tough competition in the area and this place falls a bit short.

The pizza was good but I could not get over the 2 inch long fingernails of our waitress .I felt like I wanted to puke. So unsanitary for a restaurant. Next time I go I will make sure I get a different waitress.

I hope the owners and management read my review. This place has the ability to be something special, however, it does seem to be poorly run. As mentioned in other reviews, the service could use some work. The wait staff was confused as to who should tend to our table. Once an order was placed, it took a good amount of time to get drinks. Drinks were brought to people at different times. Therefore, some people had drinks and some did not. Same goes for the food. They botched the order a tad, but were quick to rectify it. Anyway, they just need to tie up some loose ends. For example, we order several pizzas and they told us the were out of pizza servers(what some call spatulas). How does a pizza place run out of those? The bar is really well decorated. It looks clean. I will say, I had a pizza like no pizza I have ever had before. Their cheeseburger pizza tastes like a Whopper. Unbelievable. Their square pizza is much better than their round. The staff was very friendly. Everyone working there is really young and I don’t think they get the support or training they need. They have the poor busboy(I think his name was Ryan) washing dishes, delivering pizzas, cleaning glasses at the bar, in addition to his normal duties. He was the hardest working guy there. Anyway, I hope the management and owners devote enough attention to this place by focusing on quality. Quality of the service and the food. If they do, they will be rewarded with a prosperous business.

We visit Papa’s at least 2 – 3 times a month. The only issue I ever had was the service was a bit slow when they first opened up, but that has been corrected. The Mediterrian Pizza with Chicken, square of course, it the BEST pizza i have ever had! Owner is always present and checking up on his customers, great job big guy! See you guys soon.

Really want to make this place a go to. I find it entirely underrated and wish more people appreciated it. The renovations are awesome, it’s reppin’ Michigan all over the place and the food is yummy. Typical bar food but still delicious. I love the nachos and pizza was really good. We had an incident where one of the waitress’ told us all beer on tap was $ 3– myself and a group of 5 others spent the night drinking thinking all this yummy beer was only $ 3. Well, it wasn’t BUT the owner did honor the fact that his waitress messed up and took the loss. Haven’t been there in a month or so but before that I had been there 5 or 6 times and each time it was nearly empty. What gives?

So I always try to support local places but I will not be going back to this one. Sat there for 20 minutes trying to get a beer and lunch. Stragglers was completely inept and the place was 25% at best. Too bad, not sure how they got such a high rating, maybe playoff football Sunday’s is not the best for them. Ended up going to BFD up the street.

We’ve really tried to like this place, but I can’t make myself go here again. The pizza is just… forgettable. The crust on the square is good. The toppings and sauce are just… boring. We’ve made more flavorful pizza at home. The pizza isn’t horrible, but it isn’t worth dealing with the slow, neglectful service. Every time we’ve been, asking what is on tap is a chore. the food is dropped off and we never see a server again until its time for the bill. App/Salad plates don’t get cleared from the tables ever, so once your pizza comes, your table is littered with stuff. The servers are poorly trained and spend too much time chatting with regulars at the bar.

Coney Island Pizza. Do I need to say more?!! Second runner up is the cheeseburger. Their crust is to die for. I’ve always had good service, even if was only a 2 top or a group of 8. They have several other menu items, too– burgers, sandwiches, etc. I honestly tell everyone about the pizza! It is a tad loud, but its a sports bar, after all. Usually the place has several people lined at the bar at any one time.

Been here once before thought I’d give the place a second chance. Got the nacho. Turns out to be Hormel chili on chips. Some fresh veggies. Could have gotten better at Taco Bell. Not worth the ten bux. We asked to have the hockey game turned on. Some dude couldn’t figure it out, left the tv off. We were going to stay have a few with service like that we left. Went home got there before game time. Overall one star for cold beer, bad food & no big screen.

Great tasting pizza The atmosphere was welcoming and clean. I ordered a small pepperoni and mushroom. The sauce was tasty, cheese was high quality, and dough was perfectly cooked. I will come back.

To me, Five Stars doesn’t necessarily mean fancy or pricey. Five stars can also mean that the whole experience was satisfying on every level. Pappa’s Pizza opened to much fanfare a few months ago. There has been much chatter about the place since then, and on our second visit tonight we’ve confirmed that the chatter is deserved. As I usually do, I’ll begin with the space. The owner has done a wonderful job of filling the sports bar requirements. There are numerous large beautiful televisions with all of the usual sports programming available to watch. There’s a copious amount of sports memorabilia on the walls as well including jerseys, pictures of various teams in the Detroit area, and other accoutrements. The reasonably well stocked gaming area in the back completes the theme. Service has been wonderful both times I have visited. The staff is very friendly, makes eye contact, and the tables are always kept very clean and ready for new guests. The bar is exceptionally well stocked, and they’ve even got a custom cocktail menu that looks interesting. One of these days I’ll have to get over there and have a couple of their drinks, they look delicious. Speaking of delicious, let’s get to the food. Their pizza is absolutely the finest pizza in the area. They’ve really got it figured out in terms of making the crust crunchy, but not ridiculously hard to chew. The toppings are fresh, and always in the right proportions. The pizza is brought out at the perfect temperature, and is absolutely divine! They also have very good offerings for appetizers. We’ve had the cheese sticks both times we have visited and I’ve not been disappointed either time. This is definitely the hip place to be at the moment. I hope that they can keep up what they’re doing for a long time, because they’ve got a fan in me for life!

I visited this establishment on a late Wednesday night and had an amazing experience! The interior is extremely well decorated, there are plenty of TVs, great music, excellent service, a large variety of drinks, and DELICIOUS food. We were also lucky enough to meet the owner/manager and we enjoyed delightful conversation with him about the new business. My dinner started with a couple appetizers which were half off. My sister and her boyfriend ordered the mozzarella sticks and I ordered the jalapeño poppers. WOW! They were amazing! The poppers were made with a red jalapeño and they were stuffed with QUESO! I’ve had jalapeño poppers but never like these. The mozzarella sticks were even fantastic! I mean, I almost always like them no matter where I go… but the breading on them tasted much better than what I usually have. Not to mention, they make their own ranch which was also delicious. For our main course, we ordered the Mediterranean pizza and a custom pineapple/mushroom/onion pizza. These most definitely did not taste like pizza you order from a bar and grill. They were cooked to perfection with a perfectly crisp crust, yummy dough, tasty sauce, and delicious toppings. Just thinking about the pizza is making me want to get out of bed to grab my leftovers out of the fridge. Alright. Dessert time. We all ordered cheesecake. They make 32 different kinds of cheesecake and rotate them(3 each week). We ordered the golden oreo, death by chocolate, and the peanut butter cup. Holy crap! They were creamy, sweet but not overly sweet, and completed our gigantic meal perfectly. Mmmm. As we talked with the owner/manager, we learned several awesome things about papa’s. They make literally EVERYTHING from scratch. Ranch, pizza dough, sauce, appetizers… you name it. You can clearly tell it’s not some frozen crap when you eat it. We also learned about his custom made signs(which are crazy!) and unique décor. I highly highly recommend coming here. I have already scheduled my next visit! P. S. don’t miss out on the gigantic drink menu!

I’m in the neighborhood of this place, so it’s important to me that it succeeds. First off, they did a great job of cleaning this place up. The Fosters folks made it a mess. These people did a fine job of cleaning it up and making it look NICE !!! Lots of tvs everywhere to see the games. Too bad the music that was playing was more suited for 14 year old girls. Hip hop crapola. Too bad, so sad. This would be a nice place in the area to take a business acquaintance or something similar. However, that music woud just be offensive. They need to save the booty music(if at all) for Friday and Saturday nights for the kiddies. During the day it needs to be toned down. There needs to be some time for the actual adults to enjoy themselves. The first time I went last week, I ordered a sub to go. It took quite a while to get. The sub itself tasted pretty decent. The bun was good and was toasted. Unfortunately, it only had 3 pieces of meat on it. All in all, it was ok. Today, my wife and I decided to go and try some more food. Luckily, it was ½ off burger and sandwich day… we both ordered burgers. They were not amazing. They were simply decent. They were huge in size, that’s for sure. It was well worth the $ 4 each we paid… however, $ 8 each would be another story altogether. I can do much better for $ 8. The place is really nice, the food is average — maybe a hair better than average. The service was wonderful. This place is headed in the right direction. They just need to make a few tweaks or I’m afraid they won’t withstand the competition long-term in the Fraser area.

Alright so here’s the deal: I love to try new places, especially pizza places. Seeing how this place just opened, I’d expect the function to be a work in progress. The atmosphere here is AMAZING. It has the perfect sports bar and family friendly pizza place feel. It’s lit wonderfully and is perfect for any type of televised sporting event… it’s the perfect baseball and footbal pizza place with how many tvs it has setup. The food was fantastic. We had a large square pizza and set it up to be half bbq chicken and half the works, along with a side of cheese bread(with house made ranch!). They were both delicious. I’m not a drinker, but I tried what my girlfriend ordered(a Margarita). It was pretty good if I may say so. The only downside during my first time stopping by was the service. It wasn’t that good the first time around. I stopped by again over the weekend and a much better job was done. The wait staff had a better focus and was more attentive to us and organized this time around. As there are multiple Papa’s Pizza’s around, I didn’t expect this place to be the best of the best, but it was damn good and I highly recommend it. Especially if you live in the area.

I am perfectly fine with new places experiencing«growing pains» when they initially open. It happens and for the most part it is inevitable. These«growing pains» to me are things like the waitstaff not fully knowing their menu or which table is where. An issue that I do not see falling in to this category however is when you have your waitstaff just standing around literally twirling their hair and totally neglecting their customers. Another is allowing open seating this early in the game during a dinner rush making your guests pick where they sit. Make your hostess follow the rotation and seat tables properly and then inform the person working that section that he or she had a table that was sat. It’s not rocket science folks. We walked in and the hostess barely attempted to make eye contact with us before handing us two menus and telling us to sit wherever we liked in a very monotone voice. Okay, fine. We found a table, sat down, and started looking over the menu. A couple minutes go by and no one has come over to greet us and take our drink order yet. A few more minutes go by and at this point we already know what we want, we just need someone to come over and take our order. About five minutes in another table gets sat a few feet away from us and within 30 seconds not one, but TWO waitresses greet them and begin taking their order. At this point my blood was starting to boil. It’s not like they didn’t notice us sitting there, we had members of the waitstaff walk by our table multiple times and every attempt I made to flag one down fell on deaf ears and blind eyes. We had a clear view of the bar and sat there watching four girls just standing around giggling and having a good old time. Also the bartender who was on duty stepped out from behind the bar and sat down with a customer and was obviously flirting with them thus neglecting the rest who were at the bar. It was close to the 15 minute mark and I had enough and walked up to the front where a Manager was standing. I expressed my concerns and how we were being rudely neglected by the waitstaff to which he stated someone would be right over to take our order. About two minutes later a young lady FINALLY greeted us. She apologized for the wait, but it seemed forced and not genuine. After placing our order we sat there for another 30 minutes before our waitress brought out our pizza. When we inquired about the cheese bread we had ordered she realized that she just gave it to the table next to us a few minutes prior and they already started eating it, but assured us she’d put a rush in for the replacement, but by the time it finally came out we had already finished eating our pizza. Irked beyond belief we asked for a box along with the check, paid, and as we were starting to get up to leave a gentleman who I believe was an owner says to us with a chuckle«Things are a lot smoother tonight, eh?» as if we were just in there the night prior, to which I told him no and that the service was beyond horrible. We went in to detail about everything and he apologized and walked away. Shortly after another waitress came over with him and asked us if we had paid yet because she noticed how bad things were and was going to get our meal comped. I informed her we did and she asked us to wait there for a second. Shortly after she walks back and hands us a business card that had«50% Off» written on the back with someone’s signature scribbled on it. So we just went from getting our meal comped to getting half off our next visit which will most likely be never? Yeah, I see the logic there… From the time we entered to the time we paid the check and walked out we had been there an hour and a half. Mind you we didn’t lollygag and chit-chat while we ate which would have consumed more time. Jokingly I told my wife that we would have had faster service if we called in a delivery order on Super Bowl Sunday. Now the food wasn’t half bad if I am being honest which was the only reason for this review not being one star. It wasn’t the greatest ‘Za I have ever had, but it was also far from being the worst. However, with the horrendous service I won’t be back to dine in or to place a carryout. When we got home and were surfing Facebook, we saw a bunch of posts in a group page for the city about how bad of an experience others had there too, so our issue wasn’t just a fluke. Someone also posted, and I take this with a grain of salt, that four waitresses up and walked out and quit the second night they were open because of how poorly managed the place was. If this is true then it should be an obvious eye opener for the owners to step in and correct these problems while they are still fresh if they want to have some form of chance at thriving.
