Fraser Star Lanes

We called ahead to see if there was open bowling and were told there is but we have to hurry because open bowling closes at 5pm. Now big deal because it was 3:30 and we were nearby. There was such urgency expressed over the phone. We get there and there is only one other lane in use. Why the urgency?
Anyhoo, this is an old house with only 16 lanes. No worries but the place is far from a modern bowling alley. Lanes were acceptable and well maintained but the rest of the place is a total pit. Bathrooms smelled like moth balls and death. The bar was tiny and they had a snack counter but it was closed – thank goodness because I’m not eating here. Scoring machine was computerized but very dated for an automatic scoring system. Stuff to run a bowling alley was everywhere.
The kids enjoyed themselves as we basically had the place to themselves. The bumpers were just long rubber tubes in the gutters but it worked. Pricing was $ 20 for four kids to bowl a game. Not bad.
I would come here again when the place is empty or I was in a pinch but would be more inclined to revisit if it were cleaner and the people who worked here just slightly nicer.

It’s a bowling alley.
Normally, «normal» places like this merit a three star, because they are what they are, and that’s all they’re supposed to be. However, I’m giving them a one star kick up because:
1. The bartender knows how to make a solid bloody mary. And she knows how to make the spicy ones spicy, and the normal ones not. And they’re good.
2. I didn’t have to keep hanging out in the bar to get stuff. She’d go ahead and bring everything out to the table… and we had a crowd, so sometimes that was drinks, sometimes that was pitchers of soda, etc.
Decent place. If you’re in the mood to go bowling, then here’s someplace you can hit for sure.

Just starting bowling on a league there! Not very big which was good because we could talk to everyone. It would probably be perfect for children’s birthday parties. TVs were tube type. Lanes seemed to be in good condition.

I’ve passed this place hundreds of times driving to Comix Corner, but this is my first stop in. So far, so good.
