Love, Love, Love this place. By far the best place to eat for miles around. In 3 months we have ate here 6 times and loved each time. The staff, service, and interior is top notch. The food is bar none the best, all fresh ingredients and freshly cooked. For the experience and great cuisine the prices are reasonable. On occasion they also feature some great live music. Stopping in today to try out their new menu.

We drove up from Lakemont, Ga — 45 minutes — to go to another Franklin restaurant that is wonderful(i won’t name names, but it is located in a gas station). We timed that one wrong(or right?) as they were closed for winter break. As we headed back south we saw The Bowery, which immediately caught my eye and made me want to stop. My beautiful girlfriend, however, isn’t as easily swayed which cost us a lap around the block. In a totally serendipitous moment we ended up having a wonderful evening. We had low country boil and oysters as apps(not that kind of app) and they were fantastic. Having lived in a gulf coast area the past 29 yrs, i was apprehensive of the oysters. No need, they were fresh and wonderful. Entrées continued the trend, pork chops and hand rolled pappardelle were fantastic. Finally, my recent request to the gods to return pudding to the menu appeared to have been heard, the chocolate oudding with peanut powder and«crème brûlée bananas» finished this meal with a smile. Service was fantastic(Janelle(?) was sweet, energetic, and attentive) and everyone had a smile on their face. Water glasses stayed full, table cleared of empty dishes, and perfect amount of time between courses. Two thumbs up, we will be back

We were headed to Maggie Valley and were looking for a good place to stop for dinner and found the Bowery on Unilocal.I liked the menu and the reviews were good so we decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did, first of all the restaurant is gorgeous. A great space decorated in a rustic/industrial style and just really comfortable. Our waiter, Daniel, was a pro and recommended a few dishes from the brand new menu. I just stopped eating dairy so I was thinking I’d have a salad but was pleasantly surprised to see the seasonal vegetable plate with a dairy free grit cake. It was totally delicious! My husband ordered the Osso Bucco and raved about how good it was even telling the table next to ours that they should order it. Both my kids got the cheeseburgers which they loved and the fries got thumbs up from all of us. They have a good wine list and beer selection and the manager stopped by multiple times to see how things were which was so nice. Overall we loved this restaurant, had a great experience and wished we lived in Franklin so we could come every week! Go eat here and enjoy.

Our new favorite local restaurant. We’ve been there for brunch, lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious and left us eager to return. The menu is varied, inspired, usually ‘in motion’ and uses high-quality local ingredients. See for yourself on the restaurant website. This is not a conventional chain or bland southern ‘meat-n-three’. Inviting and comfortable bar. One of the best places in the void between Atlanta and Asheville. Looks like the one bad review is service-oriented and should be disregarded. Can someone explain to me why so many reviewers on Unilocal will give 1 star when they say the food is good or very good?

The only game in town for Sunday brunch in downtown Franklin. It was bitterly cold the day we came, but the coffee was hot and strong, the food good and the staff friendly.

This restaurant looks like it was lifted up from a big city and set down in the little town of Franklin. After hearing there was a new General Manager, Robbie Lang who has had a lot of restaurant experience in Highlands, as well as a new chef, we finally decided to give it a try. We had a 7:00 reservation and were immediately taken to our table. Our server introduced herself and told us the specials but we told her we needed a few minutes to look at the wine list. We she came back we were ready. I ordered the Pumpkin Linguine which came in a Marsala crème sauce with 2 kinds of mushrooms. You could add a grilled chicken breast for $ 4.00(which I did) or shrimp for $ 8.00. I also had the tossed salad which was huge and split an appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes topped with shrimp with my partner. He had the Salmon special on cornbread stuffing and a Wilted Kale salad. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, in fact the Pumpkin Linguine was one of the best things I have tasted in years. The service was very quick and attentive.

Went here with some friends and family during the Franklin Winter Wonderland Festival. The Bowery is different than most places in Franklin and I commend the effort at upscale dining. The atmosphere is very nice and comfortable. The server was friendly and helpful but overall service was slow. I don’t like to rush a good meal but this was too far the other way. The menu was creative and interesting. Unfortunately my sirloin was not very warm by the time I received it. The chicken and dumplings was different and a winner. I hope the establishment is successful. It is a nice change of pace here in Franklin.

This service takes slow to an entirely new level. I waited easily 15 minutes at the bar to get a drink and it wasn’t even full. Then the waiter decided to forget to take our order. Once we placed a Cesar salad to start off with they decided to take over 30 minutes to make it.. slowest experience ever. The food tastes good once it comes out.. don’t expect anything quick. Neat decorations inside though. Can someone explain to me how I can sit at the bar for 3 hours and never get asked to top off my water glass? Sitting with an empty cup of water that I drink in between beer and wine.. and it’s empty. It’s not that hard to fill up a water cup. Ridiculous.

Poor service. We had a big party, but staff forgot about members of party at other table and didn’t communicate well. Bar staff were unhelpful and ignored us most of the time. Restaurant wasn’t full at all. How can a restaurant with so little customers be so slow?

Had a good experience here. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, especially to my son who has celiac and has to eat gluten free. Our food was well prepared and interesting. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Honestly, I have no idea why others rated this restaurant 1 star. We almost didn’t come in because of those. We would have missed a good meal and a good evening.

The owners of this restaurant should be ashamed of their business. Have been to the Bowery a few times before writing a review. Definitely will not be back again. First off the service was terrible. Took a very long time just to get our drinks. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. Staff was rude and slow. We got our food it wasn’t prepared right and also didn’t taste good. Then a cook walked bye looked very dirty and not clean. I guess that was why they got a very low score from the Health Dept. McDonald’s has a higher rating! Again this was not my first time here. Have had similar experiences before but gave them another chance. The only positive thing about the place is the design and look of the restaurant. Simply not worth eating here find somewhere else!

I honestly have to say terrible. If I could rate them a 0 I would. This is my third try with them. The service was slow, rude and my order was wrong. I told her I was allergic to something that came on a plate, she did not get my order right! I’m pissed off I almost ate it. Now how would that look on the owners part. Also the cook came out to the dinner area to get a drink, wearing a hat and his apron was really dirty. So that of corse was not appetizing. The only thing good I could say is their ranch is good an the design of the place. Do not eat here!

What a wonderful restaurant space. I love everything about the décor here. A very sophisticated, yet comfortable, place to enjoy a meal. Went for lunch today. This is one of those farm to table restaurants that are all the rage. The menu includes some of the names of the sources for the meats and greens. The place was full today. The wait staff was struggling to keep up with the crowd. I felt badly for them because they were all really zipping around like crazy trying to satisfy everyone. The food is very good here. The Springer Farms(see?) salad with grilled chicken was satisfying. Sophia had pot roast with mashed potatoes. Her meal was only $ 8. Good value for the money. They even have an egg salad sandwich on the menu for $ 5 including one side item. Also, I love good iced tea and The Bowery’s is primo. There are a few nice restaurants in Franklin and The Bowery is one of the best.

Just passing through, found Bowery on Unilocal. The restaurant is beautiful, as is the surrounding downtown. The man got a porkchop. Best he’s ever had, but the sides were a bit… meh. The cornbread dressing came in hockey puck form. Tasty, but dry. The greens were good if you really have a hankering for sodium. Pickled peaches and spaghetti squash were okay. My salad was just that: salad, tomatoes, cukes. Ranch was very peppery, tried sherry vin and it was super tart. In an attempt to save room for dessert, I got a cup of potato/leek soup and something they call«fries.» The soup was average, the fries were disgusting. If I was to pretend I’m Gordon Ramsey-and I do, often-I’d quantify the fries as «expletive of choice rubbish.» They were polenta sticks. Very heavy and with a broken bacon grease aioli dipping sauce. Just awful. The dessert totally redeemed the meal. Brownie, ice cream, hard to screw up! I doubt I’d visit again, but the atmosphere was hard to beat. I appreciate what they’re trying to do with the locally sourced ingredients, but that doesn’t mean a chef has to reinvent the wheel. For instance, the fries. Just make regular fries better!

The chicken and dumplings rocked the house, which is like a slice of your most gawjus NYC dining palace set down in the remotest western corner of beautiful North Carolina. Kind of a shocker, yah. While my frequent flyer local dinner companions complained about consistency, I found all of the food that landed on my plate — a special order simple salad(fresh!)/bleu cheese dressing not so much, and cheese/cracker app tasty, palatable, pleasingly proportioned and prettily presented. Also liked the diversity of the menu — split between deliciously tricked out comfort food and the usual high end show-off dishes. While others have complained about this restaurant not being approppo for the rustic small town setting, isn’t that what new restaurants are supposed to do — expand the culinary envelope? The«Lusty Monk» cocktail not so much — because who wants to choke on muddled strawberries floating on top of champagne? If this cocktail were served with a straw and any panache, it might have passed muster, but for $ 14, not so much — and couldn’t taste the Germaine. Service was the down side — way too casual for the pricetag. The bar, booths and photographic wall art were way way cool, easy on the eyes, and the private chef’s table, projection system capacity afford the tantalizing possibility that this joint might become a community gathering spot. Much more of a «fourth place» than any cookie cutter coffee bar.

It’s always nice to find a high-end place in a small town, and this came recommended on the internet, so we figured we’d give it a try for lunch. Our appetizer of dips was pretty fantastic. Great hummus, delicious pimento. My salad was a bit disappointing. The description propped it up as a cracked pepper caesar salad with these awesome cornbread croutons and something called lamb chopper, which I now know is a cheese from around the area. Still, the salad itself was pretty basic, no pepper that I could find. Still, though, the locally-sourced food, nice presentation and atmosphere make it a great place!

Hager Steak sandwich was good, little small and steak a little too tuff. Dessert tasted like it was bought at Sam’s club. Service was way too slow, especially for lunch.
