The menu is the standard of American-Thai restaurants across the country — mostly Bangkok food with the usual apps, curries, noodles and ‘specialities’. Nothing regional. But unlike most Thai restaurants in the U.S. Thai Paradise dishes have flavor and heat(at least the ones I’ve had). The green curry is green and spicy, not a pale green that blends with the eggplant and turns the chicken blue. The pad thai actually tastes like the stuff you find in Thailand: very moist, dark in color from the tamarind and with authentic ingredients. The owner told me she prepares the sauce for hours each morning. And like any truly authentic Thai place they have condiment caddies with Nam Pla Prik and Prik Nam Som, not a bottle of hot sauce or bowl of pepper flakes.

The exterior looks terrible, but don’t let that stop you. This is easily the best Asian food you are going to find in Western North Carolina, including Asheville. We are regular connoisseurs of Atlanta’s Buford Highway ethnic food scene, and are picky about our Thai restaurants. Thai Paradise more than holds it own against almost anything in Atlanta in it’s price range. Being located in Franklin, NC makes this even more amazing. If you visiting in the area, this is a don’t miss. Warning — spices here are considerably hotter than most Thai. Medium is the equiv of Thai Hot almost anywhere else.

While passing though Franklin NC I saw how good the ratings were for Thai Paradise and thought how can I go wrong. Well, I am guessing that the people that have reviewed this place, doesn’t know what good Thai is. I am one that spends a lot of time eating out and Thai is a top food group I like to eat. The Tom Khan Gai soup was average and a little watery for me. Small amount of vegetables and lots of broth. My beef panang was very disappointing. The beef was well over cooked and this was loaded with mostly snow peas that were very tough and undercooked. The flavor of the panang sauce was very bland and needed salt to enhance the flavor. The décor is very old and the whole place needed a good cleaning. After I ate there I did look so see where the people were from that rated the restaurant and most of them were locals that I guess, this is the only choice they have for Thai. Next time passing through Franklin, I think it is time to try some good old BBQ.

The food is fresh and very good. The cheese rolls are great for an app. We’ve had phad thai and shrimp fried rice, both were excellent.

This place looks sketchy. But I swear to you the food is worth it! The restaurant is covered in tacky Thai/Oriental nick-nacks and art and is kinda dark. The staff is all business so don’t expect any chatty waitress here. I have really enjoyed the food and the spring rolls and Thai tea are worth the visit by themselves. Look people get out of your comfort zone and try this place out, its worth the fear! Plus you can hit up Ruby Cinema for a movie just down the street after you eat you Pad Thai.

This place is intresting. Although I probably didn’t capture it on the best of days(was driving through franklin on mother’s day, so the place was packed with church goers and mothers day celebraters) I thought it was probably a place I could understand being phenomenal. It is decorated, but probably more 90’s style décor and the outside is very non-descript(m, aybe an old Denny’s?) My food took a bit of time to come out, and I think that’s becase usually this place is worked by family/friends of family and they just didn’t have the manpower to handle a completely full crowd(I took the last available table). However, waiststaff and greeters were friendly. My food took a bit of time to come out, but it was hot and fresh. I had the shrimp wrap which was actually kind of a shrimp wrapped in fried shell and came with a very fresh and tasty dipping sauce with veggies. I also had the spicy basil noodle, which was fresh and plentiful. I was very full when done and the food was good despite the wait. The spice rack has a spicy vinegar, fish sauce, and powder, I would highly recommend trying the spicy vinegar, it was great on the basil noodle.

Great Thai food! My daughter has been eating phad thai shrimp here for just about her whole life! I like the green curry tofu; it comes with a wide range of veggies. My wife likes the masaman curry chicken.(I do too!) the tom ka kai soup is great(I’m eating leftover while I write this!) basil rolls, cheese rolls. If you like it hot, ask for the hot sauce plate: thai birdseye pepers in fish sauce, in vinegar and dried and ground. and don’t forget to get a Thai Iced Tea.
