Always love Gray’s! Exceptional service by Brian Henderson. He not only cares for the customer, but obviously cares about the restaurant and its reputation. And I appreciate that, even though Brock Douglas was not our server, he checked on us twice, as the place was hoppin! Great place! Great food! Great people! Thanks!

Food and service was great. I had an IPA and wife ordered a dirty martini. The size of the martini was smaller than expected but well made. We shared two apps which were both very good — fried pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. I had the shrimp and grits small plate… it was as good as expected from reading the reviews. My wife had the scallops and was similarly pleased. Bill including tip was $ 115.

The location and the atmosphere of this restaurant are lovely. My husband and I have been here five times and each time hoping to have a better experience than the last. The food is pretty terrible. We’ve been for both brunch and dinner. –It is literally no better than Cracker Barrel but you will pay three times the price. Do yourself a favor and don’t go here if you are expecting a delicious, above average meal.

Me and my wife went to downtown Franklin to go eat at the Red Pony but they were closed so we wondered into Gray’s. We were not disappointed and was quite surprised by the great food and atmosphere. We ordered appetizers and I got the steak which was very good. We finished dinner off with a signature piece of local pie which was incredible! We will definitely be back.

My review is for lunch only. While I was seated near the stage area, no music was happening on the weekday afternoon while I was there. And since I was in town visiting with one of my besties, I was really glad that we could chatter at each other rather than listening to what I’m sure is awesome music. We chose a variety of small plates and gobble up everything with only a few leftovers for her family to sample. We ate the pimento cheese balls, skillet cornbread, grilled pear pizza, brussels sprouts, Gray’s salad… and maybe a special. Everything was delicious. And our server was great. The cocktail menu looked amazing but we were behaving ourselves so next time. The building is gorgeous. Love all the exposed brick and woodbeams. We were seated upstairs and it was very cozy.

This place is a hit or miss. I have been twice. The first time was fine. The second time was a disappointment, mostly because of the awful service. It was very busy so I understand it being slow… but it took about 10 mins just to get water. The waiter was obnoxious(I think he was trying to be funny… didn’t quite work out for him). The menu clearly states in red«ask your server about vegan options» which I did, and he recommended the beef filet. Just a suggestion but if you are going to put that on your menu maybe teach your waiters what«vegan» means? Some people have health issues and can’t have certain foods. He then preceded to tell me that I could not have the kitchen make me something vegan(Although the last time I was here, this was no problem.) I understood that it was busy but he wouldn’t even ask the kitchen. We got someone else to take my order but it made the rest of the dinner very awkward. He kept trying to make jokes about how he was«the jerk who wouldn’t let me order». Yeah… you were buddy. Pros: Very cool atmosphere. Cons: Service.

Fantastic place!!! Stayed at the bar and had a wonderful evening! Honeyboy and Boots were excellent. Wish them lots of success! Cannot beat a Cello and Guitar! Gotta try them Brussels sprouts next time!!! I definitely want to hear about that novel! :-)

We came for the craft cocktails and stayed for the craft cocktails. Kayla and Joel at the bar were amazing! What a great atmosphere. Bummed we didn’t discover this place earlier in the week

My co workers and I had dinner here and sat right in front of the stage downstairs. It was kinda funny, having dinner and looking straight up to enjoy the live music being played. I had the shrimp and grits, which didn’t only come with shrimp but also scallops and andouille sausage. Wow! This was great, I loved it… I loved it so much I ate it slowly because I didn’t want the experience to end. Gray’s is in located in beautiful Downtown Franklin. The restaurant is very cool, very beautiful — who would have thought that it was a pharmacy way back when?! The service was good, and the live music was also an enjoyable experience. Kind of pricey, however. Overall, I had a good time here!

Hubby and I were being tourists and walking along Main Street in Franklin, TN. Suddenly, we saw a sandwich board on the sidewalk advertising Smoked Chicken and Avocado soup! ‘Nuff said — we’re in! We went in, and the friendly host offered us a seat either upstairs or downstairs. We chose upstairs, and sat at a seat next to the window, so we could watch folks on Main Street. There’s a bar upstairs as well, and a few ladies were taking a nice Friday afternoon cocktail«meeting,» and the general vibe was relaxed and happy. It was a little late for lunch, so we both opted for the soup and split an order of grilled Brussels sprouts. Before you make barf noises, a grilled sprout is a mighty tasty thing. These were split in half, drizzled with olive oil, and covered with crème fraîche and freshly-grated Parmesan cheese. They were really, really good. One order is too much for just two people, so sadly, we had to leave a few behind. Now, this soup. Smoked chicken and avocado soup. OH. MY. GOODNESS! This was truly the best-tasting thing I had on our entire trip to Nashville, and we had some pretty good food. This soup was packed with chunks of chicken. No, I don’t mean it had a lot of chicken in it, it was PACKED with chicken — smoky, delicious chicken. In between the chunks of chicken was an avocado broth that brought tears to my eyes. Yes, it was that good. If I could eat this soup every day, I could die happy. It was THAT good! Honestly, I didn’t look at much of the menu, because we came in hunting for that soup. However, if the rest of the food is anything like the two items we had, then Gray’s is a great place. I’m sorry we didn’t get to Franklin early enough in the day to take advantage of all the area had to offer. However, learn from our mistake, and know that there’s much more to the Nashville area than the endless frat party vibe of South Broadway in the honky tonks. Franklin is a lovely, charming town with wonderful historical buildings along Main Street, and there is a nearby plantation and other historical locales to visit. Definitely check out Franklin if you get a chance.

Eh… came in at 630 on a Wednesday night and the place was dead. Food selection was minimal and pricey. They turned my $ 26 short rib order around in about five minutes so it must have been pre-prepared. The short ribs were mushy and didn’t have a ton of flavor. Wife got a Caesar salad w steak that had limp lettuce coated in dressing. Service was lacking for a $ 25+ entrée place. Will not be back.

I was a little concerned by some of the lower reviews at Grays. A special occasion brought my group here and the honoree chose the spot. There were a few small bumps but overall the experience was great. First, the service. Our reservation was large and relatively last minute, but we got in quickly. the staff gave us a choice that we could wait a few minutes longer or sit upstairs when music might start — even though the band start time was more than two hours after our meal began. I appreciated the warning but was hungry and chose upstairs. Throughout the meal, the service was communicative, but there were a few missed pieces(like a long missing beer and some sides with meat for the vegetarian who asked if they had meat), likely due to background noise more than anything else. Most of the time we had several people helping us out. The space was nice. The dining room noise, even without the band, does echo off of the antique bricks, so don’t come to Gray’s for intimate conversation. That said, it’s a charming space with a nice high stage in the rear. The food was surprisingly good. Several people had just the«starter» of lobster mac and loved it as a meal. The Carolina chop, roasted chicken, and the scallops were hits at the table. Prices are upscale, but not as high as many other competitive restaurants in the Nashville area. If I could change one thing it would be slightly larger vegetable sides with a little less salty butter. But this is the South… so I may be in the minority here. Although I stuck to water on this occasion, my group enjoyed the Front Porch Fizz and the Anthym Spirit. The cocktail menu is pricey but unique and they have a small but good selection of craft beers and wines. We enjoyed the experience enough to stick around for some of the live music and dessert, so Gray’s was a hit!

This review is about Eric, the bartender who works on the second floor of this restaurant. Friendly doesn’t begin to describe this guy; he really needs to be Mayor of Franklin. My husband and I were considering purchasing a home in or around Nashville, and since all the realtors seemed to be pushing Franklin, we decided to drive down and see what all the stink was about.(It is everything they said, and more, btw.) Anyhow, we popped into Gray’s for a cocktail, and were fortunate enough to have this chatty guy Eric tell us everything about Nashville, Franklin, the geography, things to do, housing, the tax windfalls, schools, neighborhoods, on and on and on and ON. What a great experience. Oh, and he mixes a great drink, too!

I’ve been to Grays a number of times, and honestly it has declined in quality of food and service over time. My husband went there a few months ago and ordered the chicken and waffles and had the unfortunate experience of getting fish and waffles — a truly disgusting combination. They immediately got him a new meal and gave him a $ 25 gift certificate to use which was very nice. So last night I went with two gal pals so we could get some dinner and drinks and use the gift certificate. Our waiter was, to be quite frank, an ahole. He saw a table of three women in their 30s/40s and immediately assumed we weren’t ready for what Grays had to offer. He started out by telling us clearly«This is not a Chili’s — our drinks are artisinal and hand crafted and take time to make. You may like this one — it is like a cosmo.» Um, excuse me — that has to be the rudest thing I’ve ever heard. He then went on to assume we must be teachers(lawyer, finance, and marketing execs actually). It was masoginistic, offensive, and honestly between that and the lack luster«artisinal» drinks I will not be returning.

I visited earlier this week with family that was in town from Michigan. We were looking for a place that would accommodate my step mom’s very strict paleo diet. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owner who was so incredibly sweet. She even made suggestions to my step mom about what to get because she was doing the same diet! On the way upstairs, she gave us a little history on the building, which I thought was pretty cool. The bartender/server upstairs gave wonderful service and the food was absolutely amazing. I don’t have one complaint about this place! I actually would think about this place as a wedding venue ;) I’ve also been for Easter brunch and it was fabulous as well. Give them a try!

Amazing gem on Main Street. The food is delicious. The drinks are uniquely refreshing and fun to try something out of the norm. Also the staff is extremely friendly and helpful with choosing items from the menu. I highly recommend the chicken salad sandwich. It’s unlike any other and absolutely delicious. They also have live music on the weekends beginning at 9PM. This has definitely become one of my top picks in Franklin

Great brussels for an app ! Average bloody Mary Cobb salad a huge disappointment, served on a hot plate right out of the dishwasherAll lettuce and avocados warm to touch. Waiter blamed it on their busy afternoon. Restaurant half full when we were there for a late lunch at 3

We went for DRINKS not food. The bartender upstairs was the best bartender I’ve ever had. I can’t remember her name but she was from Germany. The guy next to me said he didn’t know what he wanted from the drink menu so she asked him a few questions about his taste, poured 5 or 6 things into a shaker and handed him a drink. He said it was the best drink he’d ever had so I decided to tell her the same thing. I like citrus, vodka, and on a sweet scale of 1 – 10 I like my drink at a 5. She put several ingridients into a shaker including part of an orange rind. The drink was amazing. It was perfect. This is a great place for a drink if she’s working and the atmosphere is cool too.

We had dinner there this past Sunday. The servers were great and meal presented in a timely manner. The food was tasty but small portions. We were seated downstairs which was much quieter than our first visit on the second floor. We will go back. I would rate our experience a four if we had four scallops instead of three. In addition the croutons in my salad were the small type you get in a box.
