Apathetic visitors center. Masonic lodge closed to public. Absent farmer’s market on Sunday, confusing church service in its stead. Sweaty bearded chef pawing the cheese on my plate with bare hands at Frothy Monkey. Downtown is an expensive strip mall dressed as a historic landmark. Two stars because the sun was out in February

Downtown Franklin is so hip! Really cute clothing boutiques, antiquing, restaurants, art galleries, a movie theatre and lots of other things! Every First Friday of the month, Franklin opens for art gallery hopping.

From the outside looking in Franklin seems to have it all… a picturesque main street… wholesome families enjoying ice cream on the corner –people and their pets having a sip of coffee outside enjoying the sunshine. This is truly a town of have and have-nots. There is a ton of money here but it didn’t do anything for me personally while I lived there. Traffic is a nightmare because it backs up at the lights by the private school for kids born with a silver spoon in their mouth during the work day. There are a ton of rules to follow when it comes to business and signage… Everything has to be tasteful and discreet… even your behavior This is a bible-belt community so like the Miranda Lambert song lyrics… line your lips and keep em’ closed… hide your crazy and start acting like a lady… I am too much woman for this little town and yeah I know there are big country stars living there but its not like they invite me over for a martini or anything. Just a little pretentious in my opinion. I suppose if I had all the money in the world and lived in one of those grandiose gated homes and never had to deal with the traffic and old fashioned attitudes that exist here I may have a different opinion but than again probably not…

The city of Franklin is wonderful. From the solid waste dept that has been known to clean the leaves out of resident’s yards even though they were not properly bagged or placed by the street, to city hall leaving the public bathrooms available during the weekend and during festivals. The city boasts several main street festivals a year, featuring live local entertainment, lots of community and charming stores. The new Franklin theatre is renovated to 1940’s glory or better. This is why we live here.
