First for everything. Nothing like being charged $ 1 more than the published menu price. And then the clerk quickly walks away with his head in his phone. Terrible business practice.

Woke up Saturday morning feeling an appetite for sweet and savory pastries, apple strudel, morning bun, almond croissant, anything. Since I’ve driven by this place more than a few time, I decided to drop by. Walked in at 9:30am, the place was empty, the shelves were empty(except for cookies), and the owner/cashier was nowhere in sight. After about 10 seconds, someone came out to «help». Having just saw a Hot Bread truck parked in the front, I thought this place would have fresh pastries/bakeries, was I WRONG! I looked around and after passing on buns stuffed with potatoes, chicken, and other types of buns with salty fillings, I settled on a plain croissant. The guy asked if I wanted it toasted, thinking it was fresh, I declined, that was a mistake. Once I got home, the croissant was soggy(obviously from the previous day) and burned on top. Uhhhhh… Can’t quite call yourself a bakery if you can perfect a simple croissant. I had to settle for pumpkin munchkins from Dunkin Dounts that morning. Don’t bother stoping by this place, not worth your time or curiosity.

My husband and I stopped by out of curiosity and were delightfully surprised by the great smells and variety of desserts to choose from. We stuck with the cookies this time around. We filled a bag about a quarter of the way(easily 20 cookies) with flavors like pistachio, spicy, coconut, butter, almond, cherry and more. We enjoyed them all! They were light and flavorful. Cookies with layers of taste. For a mere $ 3.75 we enjoyed our palate pleasing experience.

Pretty good baked goods. Plus, the ingredients they use are super fresh. I wasnt really planning on stopping by here at all but I was getting some gas in BP and figured why not stop by. I only tried their cookies since I wasnt too familiar with any of their baked goodies yet. I had a cookie, I wasnt sure what it was but it had a little kick to it. Next time I come back I will ask for the name.

The only place, to my knowledge, where you can get eggless cakes. Now I know that this is USA and that«eggless cakes» are not a priority. But to the vegetarian few, this is heaven sent. The cakes are fabulous in their taste — not too sweet and, as long as they are eaten fresh, nice and juicy. Many of their cakes like the pound cake and fruit cake, that are mass produced, tend to be too dry. However, their sheet cakes are among the best. You can custom order the cakes and they do a superlative job to get you what you want. The sheet cakes are moist and melt-in-the-mouth. And their pastries, coming in many varieties including mango, pineapple among others, make my mouth water. This is *the* place to buy your Bombay style ‘pav’ that is used for the famous Bombay Pav Bhaji. All other places make the bread too sweet. But this place gets it. A STRONG word of caution. There is a deceptive ‘hot breads’ in the Apna Bazaar located at Monmouth Junction/Dayton on Rte 522. That is NOT a franchisee, but a copy of the original ‘hot breads’.(This is no longer the case. The Apna Bazaar Hot Breads has shut down) Hot Breads’ head office is(to my knowledge) the store in Edison on Oak Tree Rd. There are many more snacks available that I haven’t tasted. But based on what I smell(and what others have told me) this place has got to be GREAT!(No — I don’t own the place — I merely frequent it about once a month).
