I went to visit my friend in NJ and ordered food from Tommy Cheng’s because it’s her go to spot. I think the food is great and the service was good… can’t say that too often with Chinese restaurants. I loved their chicken & broccoli & pepper steak with onions. Would definitely recommend others to come here! I’ll be back soon!

The worst! rancid egg rolls! Oil must be broken down. 3 shrimp in ½ pt. of fried rice that was not fried. Never giving it a try again. Last time was bad and this was worse.

I have eaten here a number of times. Today was just awful. I had general tso chicken and chicken chow mein. The general tso had what tasted like a soy sauce reduction. Not sweet, no spice, no little red peppers. The chicken chow mein had zero taste, like boiled chicken in lettuce. Tommy was off, but I went back to tell them. I did not ask for money back, just to tell them. The tall young man there couldn’t care less. I live close, in Oakland, but will not be back.

Have had their food twice. The second time I ordered the same dishes they came out entirely different. Very poor quality and the food took forever to arrive. Very rude delivery man as well. Will not be ordering again from here.

I just moved to Franklin Lakes and I have ordered here a couple times. First time was mediocre but tolerable, but this last time, the customer service was so unacceptable that I would never order from here again. It took them 2 hours to delivery my food. When I asked the delivery guy if it was cold because it has been a long time since I ordered, he said very angrily something along the lines of «If you don’t like it you don’t call and order from us anymore!!!» I was in shock and just wanted to end the transaction so I grabbed the food and gave him the money with a $ 3.00 tip, which was more than what he deserved for the amount of food I ordered, extreme delay in delivery, and bad attitude. He looked at the money and started complaining to me that I didn’t tip him enough and demanded more tip… I don’t expect much professionalism from Chinese take out places, in a way, you kind of know what you’re getting yourself into when you choose to order from them, but this was too much for me to ever justify ordering from them again. If the food was good, I would put up with bad service but it’s not good food either. I will take his advice and never call again.

After recommending this place to my friend who informed me of the bad reviews, I took a peek to see what the reviews were. I’ve come to the conclusion that they are just old reviews. I remember years ago when I used to live here the food being just as good as it is now. Not sure what happened In between then and now since I lived farther away and haven’t ordered in years. However the last two times we ate here we were extremely pleased. Fresh & tasty. Finding tasty Chinese take out is almost impossible in this area. Having this place around the corner from home makes us so happy. Picking up some tonight and we’re looking forward to it.

I don’t know why these reviews are so poor. Good Chinese take-out. Period.

Was here years back and decided I needed Chinese food the other day. Years ago I remembered it being great but wasn’t that way this time. Chicken seemed slightly over cooked and lo mein was a little over greasy. I would try it again just hoping this was an off day for this restaurant

Not good, slimy chicken. I don’t know who keeps this place in business. The only decent chinese in franklin lakes is golden dynasty.

Always fast always correct. Consistently disappointing. Not sure why I keep going back. Every time I go I tell myself it’s the last time.

This place is hit or miss at best. Its not far from my home so i figure«its close by». But i am wrong more than i am right. It is extremely inconsistent even when the food is OK. The lady behind the counter is rude and the food is not ready on time. I really cant understand why people(me included) continue to go back. There are plenty of way better Chinese Takeout restaurants in the area that i have been to and are consistently better than Tommy Chengs. Guess i have to be a little less lazy when it comes to picking up takeout.

I haven’t been here in a while since I live too far away, but this was always some awesome Chinese food. Particularly the fried chicken wings(amazing) and chow fun(soooo flavorful). Although I’ve heard it’s not quite as incredible as it used to be, definitely check it out if you’re in the area!

Tommy Changs may be the worst Chinese food experience I have ever had in my life. As soon as I walked in to place my order the woman behind the counter started to barter with me as to how many wontons I wanted in my soup. And once we came to the agreement of 6 wontons when the standard order is 10, I was sorely disappointed by the quality of the soup. For anyone who lives in Franklin lakes I suggest you take the 20 minute drive to the garden state plaza and get the Chinese food in the food court because it is a step above the over priced food you will receive here.
