Tried to go last night but the place was closed. It appears to be closed permanently.

We have been to the one in Evanston many times over the years and really enjoyed the food and service. This one however poor service and the food was disappointing and cold. Another one and done restaurant.

We tried this place tonite, and were disappointed! My reuben sandwich left a lot to be desired, like taste! Did not taste anything like corned beef, maybe processed fake stuff but not what I was expecting. Hubby had beef roast with mashed potatoes, just ok. DIsh consisted lots of onions and mushrooms & gravy but stingy on the beef. I would not go back again…

$ 2 beers are cool on Tuesdays. Short waitress with black hair is horrible. I’m sorry. The wait for a drink is many minutes too long and when we finally got her attention she asked, «were you waiting on me or something?» Yeah, you’re our waitress! Sit at the bar if you come here. The bartenders still stall though, you’ll sit there until they’re done chatting with each other for them to notice you. I understand the whole ‘not bein able to order 2 drinks at once’ but that wastes more of my time and theirs when I have to get my friend from across the room to have him order it. Overall we come for the $ 2 crafts which is a great deal. Good beer, good food. Not the best service.

The location is poor, it’s right next to a police station which means that you can easily get a dui or public intoxication ticket. The place isn’t really a dance club or fun bar, it’s more of a sit down and listen to crappy cover bands place.

«Always start with a positive.» The French onion soup was very good … however the beef stroganoff was prepared with grilled to dry beef bits, a meger amount of sauteed onion gravy and topped with a spoonful of sour cream. Mix it yourself presentation. The chicken pot pie presented nicely and did not skimp on the chicken. There was a lot of tasteless chunks of overcooked white meat served with under cooked veggies and potato lumps and a small amount of gravy. The servers were pleasant when they occasionally got to comming around. Overall a poor dining experience. Friday @ 6pm. Restaurant less than half full.

Took my daughter here for dinner the other night and all I can really say is that I am totally jealous that I didn’t order the Tour of Ireland dinner that she got. I opted for the fish n’ chips, cause that’s just how I roll when I go to a new place, I just have to check out their spin on a classic. My dinner was good, don’t get me wrong and the Guinness was awfully tasty, complete with a shamrock on the head. The Tour of Ireland was massive! It came with an order of fish n’ chips, Shepard’s pie and some corned beef and cabbage. Not too shabby portions of any of it either. Needless to say, it was more than a 10 year old girl could handle, but she gave it her best effort. The restaurant was done very nicely in an Irish theme. The bar appeared to be very well stocked and the wait staff was very pleasant. I really don’t have anything bad to say about the place. I’ll definitely go back some time when my wife can come along too.

Go here for their beer selection and drink specials… Do not go here for their food or service. Had bad service when I didn’t sit at the bar and the food was either too greasy or just not that good. Sit at the bar, enjoy a few beers and the place can be okay!

Five stars if you come on Tuesday for $ 2 Beers & Appetizers. Three stars any other day. The food is just alright but the beer selection is pretty good. Most of the wait staff is great. I prefer Tribes or Rock Bottom, but at $ 2 you can’t beat that. It’s worth a stop for a drink on the patio.

This is located across the street from my work. I had been here years ago for a friends party and remember liking the food, the drinks and the service. But since going back for lunch, it’s time for a proper review. First of all, I recently became a vegetarian and was getting a little annoyed at the lack of options I was finding at local restaurants and so forth. I know, I know… what was I thinking? I was pleased when I sat down around noon and found that this place was crowded or busy like nearby places at this time. Service was good and friendly and the menu had options! I have numerous things to chose from. My first lunch here I had the veggie sandwich with portabella mushrooms and red pepper and eggplant. Wow this was yummy! Next time I went, I had the adult grilled cheese. Usually I love these but this one was too much cheese and just overkill. Don’t get me wrong, it was better than the crappy two slice of american cheese on white bread that you might get at most places, but I’d think twice before ordering this again(or ask for less cheese). My boyfriend had the garden burger or veggie burger. Of course, he got it smothered with onions making it difficult for me to take a bite, but his opinion is that it tasted awesome. Let’s just say, we’re big fans of this place now. We came here on a Tuesday evening where you could order $ 3 sweet potato fries and mozz sticks. We’ve had both and I’d definitely recommend the sweet potato fries. The mozz sticks tasted kinda frozen and bad quality(but it was $ 3 so I wasn’t surprised). I will also comment that I felt like the ingredients being used in everything we’ve ordered from here seem to be fresh and from scratch. I dislike the chain restaurants like Chili’s and Applebee’s where everything tastes like it was made in a factory and reheated before being brought to your table. That’s my personal opinion. Skip the chain restaurants and check this place out! Support local business and eat yummy food! How could you go wrong?

Had dinner here last night. I’m reading some mixed reviews so Nevin’s must have took the other Unilocal’s advice since we had a great experience. My friend and I were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us great service. Nice beer selection and she was very knowledgeable about all the beers. The menu was decent and I was surprised by the amount of food we got. No complaints about the food. They do have a traditional Irish menu but they also have some healthy salad and sandwich selections. I will definitely be back.

My wife went here and gnats followed the food from the kitchen to their table. They told wait staff and they were aware of problem but said they have been unable to get rid of them yet. The next day i told my buddy the story and he said same thing happened to his wife.

They have a great selection of draft beers. I have eaten here a couple of times. I had the lamb and beef stew. It was good. Fast and friendly service. 2.00 Tuesdays for apps and draft beers. We will go back.

How did I find myself in a tiny suburb south of Chicago? I have no idea, but in this tiny suburb, south of the 80, I found a little bar called Tommy Nevins. It’s a chain of course, but it doesn’t feel like it. Rad beer selection. The awesomest bartender ever — her name is Charlie. And she knows her craft beer. I’m sold. My band was fortunate to show up on Open Mic night, and met some really amazing people, and we even got to play for about 20 minutes. Well-worth it for a few beers on the house. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in the area!

I frequent this place fairly often, it has good food at fair prices with good seating with views of the games. I like to come here with work people for lunch, with my wife on weekends and with my son in law when my wife’s book club takes over our place. Their soups are always great, especially their loaded potato soup. It is a meal in a bowl but don’t make it your meal. Try one of their burgers or mya personal favorite, Shepherd’s pie. Beef stew with mashed potatoes on top, life really doesn’t get any better than this. I’ve been coming here for years and I finally made it here on St. Patrick’s day. They had a limited menu but the luck of the Irish was with me and Shepherd’s pie and the potato soup were both on the menu. The place was jumping but we still got great service and food out on the patio with great weather. Great food all year and even better when the sun is shining and Irish eyes are smiling.

I went to Tommy Nevin’s on a Saturday around noon for lunch and was surprised at how empty it was. My sister and I were the only two in the beer garden, even though it is the best beer garden around and it was a beautiful day. I got the Reuben sandwich, which did not disappoint… sooooo yummy, with a lot of meat, and sweet sauerkraut and just enough cheese and Thousand Island. My sister got the turkery burger, which she swears by, and the mashed sweet potatoes seasoned with cinnamon. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the beer garden and the food was great. I’ve been there many times before and am also impressed with their Craft beer menu!

Want great food while you watch the Illini? This is your place! My husband and I love to go here on Illini games days because even if the TV isn’t showing our game, they will turn to it. Start with the Drunken Sailors appetizers. Just order it. You can thank me later. My husband always gets comfort food like Meatloaf and he practically licks the plate clean. I love most of their salads, they are always fresh and crunchilicious! If I am in a certain mood, I get their burgers which are also great. You get to build your own burger here including the meat and the bison is my fave! The bisonburger may sound overly Wild Bill Hickok but is really lean and delicious. When this restaurant first opened, the service was lacking but our last 3 visits here we have gotten GREAT service. We really like eating here and we don’t even drink beer! Their patio is also a great space but be careful where they seat you as people are allowed to smoke by the fireplace. If they had better dessert choices, smaller portions to try, I would give it a five!

I’m done with this place. The last 2 times I have dropped in well before 9p.m. the bartender was less than enthusiastic to have a customer. Fine with me. They are no longer the only bar in the South suburbs that has Sophie on tap. They can have an empty bar. I won’t be back!

They have KILKENNY Irish Ale on draft, so that’s enough for a visit from me. I’ve been to the Nevin’s in Evanston dozens of times, but this location has a much different aesthetic. Compared to the Evanston version and to the previous occupant of this space, Galway Tribes, Nevin’s is more of an American-style bar-restaurant than an Irish pub. They knocked out a lot of the pillars and partitions and removed the stage area, so it’s more of a wide-open floor space with the bar, the bar section with high tables and stools, and the main section with booths and four-tops. And that’s all fine, not necessarily a criticism. If I lived around here, I would be happy to eat in. A pleasant owner/manager type came around to alert us that the kitchen would be closing shortly and asking for any last food orders – nice touch. But I just came for the Kilkenny, which, by the way, was served in the wrong kind of glass. And yes, it makes a difference. Bonus: Apparently your two waitress types are 1.) smoking hot in short plaid skirt and knee socks OR2.) cute as a button in pants. Either way it’s a win.
