What a great find! The beach is calm and starts out shallow, so it’s great for little ones.(I do recommend water shoes.) There are lifeguards and two small playgrounds. There is a set of swings as well. The changing rooms are rustic and small — again: I recommend wearing shoes! There isn’t a ton of walking or hiking, but we were focused on the water. There are shaded benches along the side of the beach. And, according to my son: There are a lot of new friends to make! My in-laws hadn’t ever been there despite living in the area for decades, but they plan to return often. Also, the drive from Bangor is lovely. It takes between 30 – 45 minutes and passes lots of wonderful sights.

This is a nice spot for summer swimming, but there is not much hiking. The water is much warmer than the bay nearby. The beach is rocky, so many people wear water shoes.
