Great barbecue. Brisket is decent. Pull pork is very good. You get a lot for your money.

The food here is amazing! They have the crispiest fries I’ve ever had, and the beans, potato salad, and coleslaw are great. I always get the smoked chicken sandwich with one the sides I mentioned above, and an extra side of fries. The Carolina twang sauce adds a nice kick to the meat. I really recommend this place if you like BBQ.

Their menu features a nice selection of options, including wings and tenders in addition to standard BBQ options. I ordered the 2 meat, 2 side platter trying the pork and wings. They bring the food to your table after you order at the counter. The biggest negative of the whole experience was that it took the better part of 10 minutes for them to bring the food out, but it was well worth the wait! The pork was moist and with just a slight smokey flavor. The wings appear to be cooked with a mild dry rub. I think most folks will want to eat both the pork and the wings with sauce. I tried the sweet sauce on the table, which was satisfactory. The cole slaw is the type that isn’t super finely chopped, and had good flavor. The fries were particularly good considering that it’s a BBQ joint not a burger joint, they had just the perfect amount of crispiness. They had a great take on the cornbread, going for a little southwestern type flavor. Portion size for the meats was decent, but not incredible. The meal was fairly priced at $ 14.30. At the beginning of dinnertime on a weeknight, I was surprised that this place had just a handful of families dining in. Even though they weren’t that crowded, they seemed a bit understaffed. The same lady took my order and brought it to the table, was running the drive thru, and seemingly to helping every other patron. She was super kind and friendly. The establishment was well kept, and had a nice family-run kind of vibe. Having the drive thru is a great option, and perhaps part of the reason why the dining area wasn’t more crowded.

I’m unwilling to try to convince you that I’m an elite judge of BBQ, but I know what I like and I really like the items I’ve enjoyed at Staxx over the last few years. Mainly I get the brisket or the chicken and I’m always pleased with the taste and the portion sizes. Service is always good; you place and pay for your order at the counter upon arrival and they bring your meal to your table. The prices are reasonable. Consider this my hearty recommendation.

My girlfriend, my Roomates and I all went to eat there today. I had the brisket, my girlfriend had the pork, 1 roomate also had brisket and the last had the chicken. The pork was way better than the brisket but everything was really good and portion size was great! We mixed the sweet and spicy sauces and it was delicious. 4 stars, it would have been 5 if they smoked the brisket longer and gave it a nice smoke ring.

Their wings are addicting and my wife loves them. Friendly staff at a locally-owned eatery. I always opt for the pulled pork on Texas toast and fries. Good array of sauces. This is one of my favorite fast places to eat in Frankfort. I’ve never found anything to complain about here.

I really teeter on giving this a 4 or 5 star. If i had to base it on the chicken wings, it would be a 5 star, but on the whole thing, it get’s a 4. First, let me start out with saying that I almost always get the pulled pork sandwich combo until the cashier said the wings were good. They sounded good and the pulled pork can be a little dry some days. So I got the wings. OMG! These are seriously the best wings I have ever had. They come with a dry rub and no sauce on them.(The sauce is on the table). These are so good, I don’t use the sauce. After ordering a 6 wing combo and finishing that off, I went back up and ordered another 6 wings. If you get the pork, you’ll need the sauce. I like the carolina sauce the best. But if you get the wings, you won’t need anything. GETTHEWINGS!

This is OKBBQ, not great. The pulled pork was tender and, with hot and spicy(not so much) Q-sauce, made for a decent sandwich. Staxx, like most places, opts for the boring white bun, a peeve of mine.(Take a lesson from Lyles and their fab bum.) The potato salad was good, as was the creamy slaw. Overall OK.

Staxx is a great locally owned restaurant. The brisket is particularly good here. The sides are typical of BBQ places. They are made on sight and very good. The sauces are homemade and offer a good variety. My favorite is the Carolina style sauce. Good heat and flavor. The sweet Memphis sauce is also good. They are served on the side so you can taste them all. The portions are outstanding. A dinner portion is enough for dinner and two lunches. The staff is friendly and fast. It is not unusual for the owner to work the lunch rush. The only down side is the small dining area. Better get there before 11:30. Word is out. It is very crowded by 12.

A family favorite. Anytime the owner comes out and asks how it tastes, it is top notch in my book. The food is hot and fresh when served. I like the niche menu they have and it works. The only thing I would change is more seats with more room. You feel kind of cramped in the current layout. Delicious food. Good job.

Yuck, easily one of the worst chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had and I’m a big fan of BBQ. Meat was awful quality, roll stale. barely ate half of it. The BBQ sauces tasted like ones you buy in big box retailers. Sweet potato fries were ok This place is so skippable, I wish I went somewhere else.

Wow! Should have known from the dirty outside of the drive thru what was in store! That was without a doubt the worst bbq if not the worst food i have ever ate in my life. You are better off getting a jar of kraft bbq sauce and throwing over any piece of meat than this total disaster of a place. Please stay away!

Great hot food n relatively quick service(drive thru). Disappointed they didn’t have any hot ribs ready at 7:30 pm but we took them cold n heated at home. I had pulled pork sandwich with spicy BBQ — delish! Cole slaw– not that tasty. Overall I went for the BBQ pulled pork n it was very good!

It was good, not great. The sweet potato fries were better than the pork; the pork was smoked in house however the sauces were not very good.

I live about 15 mins from this place and was hoping so badly they would be a good source of Q but was disappointed. Their sauces are decent and the rib meat was tender but didn’t have much taste. They told me they smoke the brisket for 12 hours but it was not very good. Not tough but certainly not moist and again, not much flavor. Sides were pretty good but the meats were just bland and average. My wife didn’t like the pulled chicken sandwich either.

I really enjoyed this BBQ joint. Fast and very friendly service! I had the beef brisket sandwich: great smoke flavor, moist and not too much fat. The brisket was sliced, not chopped which I really enjoy. They had four sauces: tangy Carolina, sweet, spicy and hot XX. I tried all but the Carolina and preferred the hot xx. My family shared a rack of pork ribs which had a tasty rub. They had baked beans, sweet potato fries and jalapeño cornbread as their sides. All we’re good but the cornbread muffins were pretty dry.

I was surprised at this little establishment. A little difficult to get to off the main road, but the highlights of the food and drink was excellent. In-house sweet tea was awesome. I also thought it was cool they had orange soda(which goes well with BBQ.) Oh, the mustard sauce! Since I’ve been in Kentucky, I’m surprised how hard it is to find good Carolina style sauce. Stack impressed me with the mustard BBQ sauce. For the smaller, local(and assuming old) building, they kept clean bathrooms. Big plus… nobody likes nasty looking bathrooms. I only have a few negatives — The cole slaw was watery, and my brisket was just a bit too dry. The smoky flavor was spot on though, maybe just an off day for the kitchen staff… Service at the register was polite and fast, it was nice not having to wait long at all before the food arrived at our table.

Staxx is a little hard to find on the corner of US60 and 127 on an auxiliary road. Super cute(wish I had taken a pix). Has a drive through. We got the dinner for two which includes a POUND of meat(we got brisket), two sides(we got coleslaw and green beans) and sauce. Brisket was fall apart good. Coleslaw as a pleasant surprise — light, not gobs of mayo, just flavor — it was perfect with the brisket. Super friendly staff(I went in instead of trying out the drive through). Perfect after 12 hours on the road. Not one scrap left for the dogs :-)
