There isn’t a zero star so I have to give one star. Small place like this should give service! I wanted a window fixed. Just replace a standard piece of glass. 36“x15″. No big deal until it became a game of upselling by the arrogant kid in the service area. I used to go out of my way to patronize here nut NOMORE. I’m pretty sure that my degrees in Mechanical Engineering qualify me to have an opinion on the right size of a piece of glass.

Always go here if I can. A true small hardware store. Rather give them the business than visit the convention center known as Home Depot. Can find things so easily, have had screen doors fixed there-great job and I usually have a smile on my face when I leave the place. Good selection of paints and outdoor landscaping products too. My only beef and why it doesn’t have five stars. Location! You wouldn’t know the place is there unless you’re shopping in Jewel.

This is a very shady place at which I would never shop at again. I bought a birthday gift(a watering tractor) at this store for my son on July 7th. I gave it to my son for his birthday in September. Since my son had already bought a different watering tractor I tried to return it a week after his birthday. All they would give me is store credit for that exact store. Since I live 200 miles away from the store that doesn’t do me much good. What is even more upseting is that I called the owner right after my son’s birthday to explain the whole situation and make sure I could get a refund. The owner told me as long as the box was not opened that it was fine. I don’t know what kind of business the owner is running but a refund and store credit are not the same thing!!! For your own convience please avoid this place!

Ok, so I had two experiences here. The first, picking up a carpet cleaner, the second, dropping it off. The first time, it was two girls who really could care less about my needs. I think they were just angry that they had to wear a drab red vest that was two sizes too big. They were quick to explain the contraption I was renting, just barely giving me enough information to operate it. The second time, it was the sweetest older woman, ever. Talkative, friendly, and sincerely interested in if my carpets were cleaned well. She’s a keeper! :) I don’t think I can judge Ace on how well the product performed, because it wasn’t Ace brand or anything, so I’m leaving that out. But for the record, it worked WONDERS. As in, all memories of potty training my pup were gone. And the price was right, too. Only $ 28 + $ 20 for the formula, much of which still remains in the bottle. So, moral of the story: Yes, go here if you want to do your carpets yourself, and pick up the Rug Doctor. No, do not go here if you have a ton of questions and need a lot of help. That is all.

I feel there is a top-down attitude issue. In buying a new screen for a frame, the manager spoke to me using tone reserved for those giving another a difficult time. I was not; was trying to stay open-minded, and the poor tone continued. This applied to describing the types of screens offered, to the demand for payment up-front. I went along with it all. Upon getting home, I called for upgrade to screen, was told by same, I must get in to pay the small difference. I phoned back a few minutes later and told her I would pick up the screen without requiring their service. The call had poor tone, too. I asked the owner to speak with me upon my return a few days later. He did not apologize, made no eye contact, and seemed to also invoke his own type of tone which was not at all empathetic to my plight. i was simply trying to alert him calmly and succinctly to an issue in his store. The store needs a visit from Tabetha. I will never return. Ace in New Lenox, here I come. As an aside, the younger employees of the store had no attitude issues and were helpful.

Small store but every time I have gone there, I have found what I wanted. We are lucky to still have a hardware store like this right in town. You can hit a mega hardware store right up the street but it is nice to keep the little guy in business also.

One of a dying breed, a small local hardware store. It has a bit of this and that and runs specials from time to time. It is located directly across from the Jewel so it is conveniently located. I come here for misc. items like doll rods and screws and nearly always find what I am seeking.
