The food and service was great! We each ordered something different and shared so we could sample different dishes and we were all very pleased. Anytime I am in Frankfort again I will be eating here!

My husband and I have been here several times now. We keep hoping our experience will get better because we want to see the business succeed. Initially we thought the food was lacking because the«Chef» was ill and because it was a soft opening. We heard all this hype about how the«Chef» was first class and world renowned and we were excitedly waiting his return. We had dinner again at BOM shortly after he came back. I am not sure what standards this«Chef» has set for his recipes but he most certainly is not world renowned. Not even close!!! As a matter of fact he is rude and spends most of his time out of the kitchen flirting with the bartenders. A Chef should be in the kitchen checking the quality of each plate and teaching! I get what the owners of the restaurant are going for. The vision is nice and so is the location as well as the décor’. But, we dine for the experience and expect good food and service. Some staff there are nice. Kelly is very friendly. He greets his customers and walks from table to table as a Manager should speaking with the guest. Jolee(I think this is how you spell her name) always smiles and welcomes everyone, But please do something about the grumpy bartenders. Geez… If you don’t like being there why should we? Please ask the bartenders to be nice to your guest and staff. They are the first people you see when you enter the establishment. At least smile and me and act like you are happy we chose the restaurant where you work. We are the people that keep the lights on!

My wife, a friend and I came in because the bride of the wedding we’re in town for suggested it. First off, Jamar was super friendly and suggested some great starters. One being their poutine. I can’t say no to fries gravy and cheese. It was Dee-Licious! The Buffalo chicken dip was also great. We did a flight of Bourbons to start and moved into the Entrees. If you’re looking for a chill place to get some good eats, excellent drink selection(ALLTHEBOURBON) and friendly faces, look no further. We’ll see how long we stay tonight. It’s only just beginning.

Lucky me! I had the best seat in the house sitting by the fireplace. I stopped here because of other Unilocal reviews, and I wasn’t disappointed. The food was excellent, staff was friendly, and the ambience was laid-back and relaxing. I’ll absolutely return when I’m back in town!

Hands down the best patio and burgers in the Frankfort area! Staff are friendly and welcoming, the cocktail list is impressive and delicious, and if you are a state employee they can get you in and out quickly over lunch. At night they kick it up a notch with events like pint night and live music. Can’t wait for summer to get out on the patio again.

This is easily one of the best restaurants in Frankfort. It fills a need– nowhere else in town will you find house made drinks and food like this. The service is friendly, helpful, and full of recommendations(all of which were GREAT). I got the Heaven cocktail(delicious!) and the capresedilla and was thoroughly impressed. I ended up getting the Cavatappi with meatballs for a main– absolutely incredible. This place has a heart that truly thrives off giving a good experience, and it did not disappoint. Thanks for the great drinks, cozy atmosphere, reasonable prices, and giving Frankfort a place worth taking out-of-towners to. I’ll be bringing my friends!

The place looks stellar. The renovation was top notch. The food is excellent. The beer and bourbon selection are great. I have only been in there at lunch, but have been twice. The burgers I have had certainly hit the spot and settled my craving for a great tasting and unique burger. They have several. My one issue is that I would prefer full service at lunch. There is a lot of getting up and sitting down while eating. You order at the bar. They bring you your food. You get your own(non-alcoholic) drinks, silverware, condiments and refills. So it is not very relaxing at lunch time. It’s like you still have to be working. That would be my only request of things to change. Have a server on hand during the day.

After a tour at Buffalo Trace, we decided to keep the bourbon theme and eat lunch here. When we walked in, it always a bit awkward, we were sure whether we wait to be seated or what. So we asked someone. So here’s how it worked, you grab a menu at the front counter and then order at the terminal and then they bring your food to you. We ordered and then decided to sit at the bar. I went to wash my hands and the first bathroom was out of hand soap, no biggie, there was another bathroom that had it. I told the same lady that took our order about it. I’ll jump ahead and say that I used the bathroom right before leaving and it was still out of soap, not cool… especially after at least thirty minutes after I went out of my way to tell someone and it still hasn’t been refilled. Oh, and why the heck do they have two bathrooms and both are unisex? The second bathroom even has a urinal. Anyways, I hate unisex bathrooms. That rant is over. Wednesday was said to be $ 1 off bourbon pours, so I read somewhere on Twitter. But I heard someone ask about the drink specials and he was told there weren’t any. The menu is small, but there is a chalkboard that lists a few extra items, including the salads, that weren’t listed on the menu. I ordered the Panda salad and my husband ordered the smoked gouda and mushroom burger. The salad was simple, just lettuce and cabbage, topped with crunchy tortilla strips. I requested the dressing to be on the side, only because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not. I don’t know what kind of dressing it was, but I did like it. I even asked for more and was told that they were out. Actually a lady, who I assume was the chef, came out and apologized because of it. Still, running out of dressing midday was weird. My husbands burger was so red, that blood dripped as soon as he picked the burger up. He sent it back, that time clarifying it to be well done. The second time, it was still pink, but it wasn’t dripping, so he ate it. So the food was a total flop. While we were there, they unboxed some top shelve bourbon… including Pappy Van Winkle. When we asked the pricing, were we told that they hadn’t priced them yet, but they would price them in 30 minutes to an hour. Then my husband joked and the lady who will remain nameless, made a snide, rude comment. Really?!? Where did these people get their training and lack of common customer service courtesy?!? You have a customer, willing to buy a pour of top shelf bourbon and they can’t even price it! Thankfully that lady disappeared, we didn’t see her again. The only reason that I’m giving a second star is because I liked the actual historical building and it’s location. We parked down the hill, alongside of it, but they said that they have a parking lot across the street.

After visiting Keenland for the day, we drove to Frankfort, where we were staying, and happened upon BOM. What a joy! The food was varied and delicious. Our server, Karisa was friendly, prompt and accomodating. We were lucky enough to sit outside and spoke with the general manager. People! Go to BOM. Ask for Karisa. You will be pleased.

Read about this place and decided to give it a try… Boy, was it a dissappointment!!! Our waitress, Chelsea, was just plain BAD… Wrong drinks, we needed to flag her down to order… Things were so bad, the owner /manager was frantically waiting on tables… You had to go to the bar to get drinks was the only way to get served… Really, this is a locals place to hang out… Don’t waste your time.

Bourbon on Main serves delicious food that is often changing as the chef creates new dishes. They make just about everything in house, even unexpected things such as, pickles, mustards, and their sweet and sour drink mix. They put in the extra work to serve a delicious, quality dish. I have been here many times and have tried dishes such as their chorizo quesadilla, bourbon glaze chicken wings, homemade chips and salsa, Thai BBQ sandwich, sriracha noodle salad with grilled tofu, and burger. It has all been delicious. They have specialty cocktails and a good selection of rotating beers on tap. As someone who likes good beer, I’ve been really impressed with the selection of beer available. The deck at Bourbon on Main has some of the best views of the KY river and the capitol in all of Frankfort. It is the perfect place to enjoy being outside. The staff at Bourbon on Main create the whole package of a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with good food and drinks.

The bourbon selection is great. The bourbon barrel beer was delicious. The wings are awesome. They seem to focus on the appetizers since they only have burgers on the menu. Our burger was dry as a bone and had to ask for lettuce, tomato and onion when it was supposed to be on the burger already. It took 30+ minutes for our burger to be served. The fries were cold when they came out. They made us a fresh basket of fries. They did comp the bill on there own. All in all an ok place. Will think twice before I come back.

When the news came that the Dragon pub was closing and a new restaurant would be taking its place, all of Frankfort seemed to buzz with excitement and anticipation. Bourbon on Main has kept us waiting, teasing us with newspaper articles and Facebook posts, but never announcing an opening date. Sometimes they’d appear to be open, with lights on and laughing people inside, but it’d turn out they were hosting private events for family and friends. The 5-star ratings started to pile up on their Facebook page, at least a dozen deep, which was a little frustrating. I have no objection to soft openings or to friends and family writing reviews, but they’re not the most reliable of sources. I wanted to check it out for myself. Last night, I finally had the chance. Yesterday there was a post on their Facebook page that they still have some finishing touches to complete, but they’ve decided to open for dinner. The post further said they’d be open Tuesday to Thursday, from 5:00pm until 11:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 5:00pm until midnight. Excellent! So after work, a friend and I went downtown to check it out. Upon walking in, we immediately noticed that the updates to the building have made for a warm, brightly lit, inviting space. The exposed brick walls are beautiful. The bar is well stocked, with plenty of bourbon to choose from(which is appropriate, based on the name). There are also several draught beers to choose from. But I opted for the $ 5 can of West 6thIPA. The servers are friendly and upbeat but don’t know the menu very well. When we asked about specific items, their responses were along the lines of, «It’s delicious! Everything that comes out of the kitchen is awesome!» Well, okay, but that’s not very helpful. However, I did see the chef come out at one point and have a couple of the servers taste the night’s special, which I suspect was to educate them about the special so they could better describe it to patrons. That’s encouraging, and even impressive. I ordered the appetizer of the night: corn chips and tomatillo salsa. The chips were simple, but tasty. The tomatillo salsa was sweet, but a little bland. I wouldn’t order that particular salsa again, but if the chips were offered with a different salsa, I’d try it. I also ordered the entrée special of the night: theThai chili pork sandwich, with fries. The sandwich was delicious. A spicy slaw topped the pork, adding flavor and texture. The bun was wonderfully soft. I’d definitely order the sandwich again. The fries aren’t anything special, so I’ll try a different side next time. My friend ordered the steak tacos(they have a fancier name, but I can’t recall what it was). I traded half my sandwich for one of his tacos and wished I hadn’t(because the sandwich was far superior). The steak was tender and tasty, but there needed to be a better balance of meat to cabbage to shell. Most bites were all cabbage and shell. They double the tortilla shells, as many places do(so, two soft shells per taco), which I really appreciate with messy tacos that are stuffed so full that the shell disintegrates, but I don’t think that would have happened with these particular tacos, and so the shells overwhelmed the rest of the taco’s ingredients. Overall, the food was good, and the service was extremely quick. We sat at a high-top table near the bar. There’s a lovely deck area outside, overlooking the Kentucky River. They’ve updated the deck from the days of the Dragon. It’s been newly stained and canopies cover the lower-level of the deck. It’s a very comfortable and beautiful space. The upstairs of the building hasn’t been completely finished yet. There seemed to be a bit of a crisis of identity going on, some of which I suspect will be sorted out as time goes on and they’ve settled in more. For example, there were plastic forks and knives and paper napkins, and the food was served in plastic baskets. This seems really out of place with the style of the restaurant and the food that’s being served. So, I suspect these are temporary and will be replaced with actual silverware and plates and cloth napkins. Time will tell. It’s also difficult to tell who their target market is. I’m really hoping that Bourbon on Main will be a local spot for hip, young professionals. But I’m a little afraid it could be more of a place for older well-to-do political types. The servers wear cute t-shirts and have a hipster-kind-of-vibe, but the restaurant itself doesn’t have a lot to appeal to a younger crowd. I’d love to see dart boards and table-top games, for example. Currently, there are just tables for eating and one television over the bar. I will definitely be checking out Bourbon on Main in the future, and will update my review as they settle in and figure out who they are. I’m very hopeful, and can see them earning 4 or 5-star ratings from me in the future. For now, I’m just happy there’s a new place in downtown Frankfort.
