I’m having some cream of fiddle head soup tonight. Not to heavy nor liquidy. Subtle tang alao. Diner like atmosphere with a full bar with only 4 basic taps, but very cosy and pleasant staff and local patrons. Most original thing I have had in years. Prices are reasonable. If I had more time I’d try the steak and potato salad with A1 vinegrette dressing. Also the Ceasar burger looked tempting… very creative and homey at the same time.

Amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Our group of 7 was seated immediately. The maple chicken sandwich was cooked to perfection as were the chicken fingers. We all had a very pleasant experience. We all plan on stopping by again next time we are in the area!

A better chicken quesadilla couldn’t be found in Mexico or Texas. Promise. This is a family favorite. They also make excellent pizza. Tuckermans beer on tap. Always leave very satisfied having been coming for decades. Simple dinner décor and reasonable pricing.

This was the best pizza I ever had! It was the perfect crust, sauce, everything, and my desert(chocolate cake) was amazing! My dad loved his burger, and the coffee was also good. The service was possibly the best part, quick and super friendly! Definitley recomend, especially to those skiing at Canon or staying at the nearby Bestwestern– super convenient and yummy comfort food.

Can I say that I’ve never set foot in this place but in my years I’ve set my rear end on bar stools in similar places. It’s usually frequented by broken down old bar Flys(and bar maids for that matter) that no longer have any human decency left exept to nurse their drink every afternoon at the same bar and make fun of whoever walks in the door, which is pretty funny because they’ve avoided looking in the mirror themselves for two decades. Seriously though obviously this place hires anybody who comes through the door and sets a low bar for competence and decency on the part of their employees. So hopefully our reviews will have some small impact on your loathsome little bar business. Very Sincerely, Bryan

This is THE happening place in town… the ONLY happenin’ place. Cute bar and dining area. Service was small town friendly and fast. The calamari was a little weird(not sure how to describe it: breaded but wet yet dry yet no flavor… just weird. There – that’s it!), but such is life. They have music on the weekends and decent beer.

I have been coming to Franconia since I was a kid, and have generally been pleased with the food and service at this village institution. We just spent a weekend in town and had a very nice dinner. The food is well prepared and our waitress(I wish I could remember her name) was wonderful. Their pizzas are super tasty, and my partner loved her salmon with caper sauce(I tried some of hers, and fully concurred). We capped off the evening by having a drink in the delightfully divey bar in the left side of the building. I was disappointed to learn that the Dutch Treat no longer does breakfast, though. In town you’re left with Wendle’s Deli(counter service, cash or checks only). Nearby Sugar Hill has cutesy, touristy Polly’s Pancake Parlor. Other than that, there is the Franconia Inn, which is a trifle hoity-toity for breakfast, though the food is good. But I digress…

My 5 $ garden salad had 2 cherry tomatoes, one slice of cucumber and some onion slices. It was set upon approximately ½.cup of lettuce. What it lacked in lettuce– it was made up for in dirt. The lettuce was filthy and covered in green slimy old lettuce Bits. I didnt expect much from a small town restaurant but this was a let down.

Ordered a $ 16 shrimp pasta dish with cheese. Was shocked to get a bowl of oily looking broth that smelled fishy and had no cheese on the ziti. The shrimp were minuscule-smaller than a dime. I swear they were from a can because never in my life had I seen shrimp so tiny. I was also surprised that such a dumpy looking place would even have a $ 16 pasta dish on its dirty menus. The grilled cheese and fries were good the next day. Hey, it is a small town with few options. The staff is friendly. The bathroom was appalling.

My friends and I were on a road trip back from Canada when we decided to pull over in this town for a late lunch. We were lucky enough to find this little gem. The waitress was very friendly and helpful in suggesting entrees. The food was quite good. I ordered the maple chicken sandwich that was covered in a delightful maple-Dijon mustard. I also sampled my friend’s onion rings which were equally delicious. Check this place out!

I had the Caesar salad with no chicken which was quite good. However, the restaurant had a lot of flies buzzing around. Why restaurants can’t address this, I don’t know. There are easy ways to control this issue if you spend a little time and money, or just care enough. The cup of soup and side salad was just right portion size and taste-wise, very good, although really over-priced. The Garlic Ginger Turkey sandwich was very good, but needed more bread, as it was a very sloppy meal to eat as the onions and meat slid out very easily from the sandwich.

When we got there it was packed with cars but inside wasn’t busy at all. The menu was def overpriced & the food was a tad greasy. I had the spinach Caesar burger which was good but nothing to write home about. The waiter seemed nice & had a few jokes. Overall a decent place to eat but overpriced for sure.

Pretty good food. Service was slow but friendly. Honestly, nothing to write home about, but nothing bad. Interior appears to have been redone recently and it was fine.

Again with the«you have to manage your expectations». If you walk into this place and think you’re walking out with the best fried food you’ve ever eaten, you’re wrong. There was clearly one woman who knew how to do everything and a few others that just moved cups around. We went the takeout route — Wings were tasty and crispy, Calamari and Onion Rings were clearly of the frozen variety but well cooked in clean oil. The crab cakes left much to be desired, they looked like crab pancakes. We spent $ 32, which included a few bucks for a tip. It wasn’t great, but it was what we were expecting. If I wanted a 5-Star Meal I wouldn’t have chosen the place, but it was 7pm and we were hungry and tired of driving around so it was perfect.

There is nothing right about this place, unless you need options as a local. We are here for work, Dutch Treat was recommened. Right through the doors theres a loud dated bar on one side and a diner/restaurant on the other. One male staffer(owner?) was playing solitare on his computer and sat us near by we assume so he wouldn’t be put out while serving us. Asked about wine, got a glass of Pinot noir(thanks for the heavy pour — could have done without the dripping around the outside of the glass.) Ordered the spinach dip… Way too much cream cheese and wasn’t heated through. Finished with flat bread special; spinach, chicken, onion and asiago… Terrible tasteless and looked worse. And it cost over 10 bucks! We left and got a pizza down the road at above the notch. End of story
