Great treats… but horrible service! Went in today, it was not busy at all. The employee was sitting down eating, she did not bother to get up. The place was a mess the tables were sticky and there was sugar all over the floor.

Aw man, I don’t usually post negative feedback about small businesses but my goodness. First of all the place was empty during lunch hours yet the floors were dirty, dishes piled high in the back and buckets in the sink. I tried to like this place I really did but the lady at the counter was pretty expressionless and offered no suggestions when I told her I’d never been there before and was unsure of what to get. I ended up with some bread that was dry, a flan that shouldn’t be called flan it was so dry and thick, a really good fresh squeezed or orange juice and done very pretty but unappetizing jello. Never coming back

Ok before I talk about anything else… if you read my tip for this place I mentioned the concha with the custard in the middle. This is the BEST concha I’ve ever had, it is not dry and hard as ish as some other places. I have never seen one yet that looks like this with the custard in the middle. It is freaking fluffy and melts in your mouth. Especially if it is FRESHHH. If you didn’t get a warm batch, WAIT. Take that home. Put it in your microwave for 15 secs. No more, no less. I’ve perfected the science of the perfect time to heat this to the point where it tastes fresh again. Now close your eyes and take a bite and imagine the song«Oh yeahhhh» from Ferris Bueller’s day off playing in the background. F all the other pastries here because this is the King. You are an idiot if you don’t get this. Like why are you even in here? All the pastries are so cheap. Like $ 1. Ok moving on to drinks. Mm it’s aight. They have 2 for $ 5 deal for chamangos. I’m not into pure chamango since the flavor tends to get tiring after half the cup but I do like drinks with other fruits and stuff in it. Idk I’m giving this place 4 stars for that concha bread, I would give 5 but service is not that good here. Some of the employees really hate the customers and you can tell lol. There was only one guy who was nice but I’ve only seen him once and nevermore. And this guy was the one who recommended me that concha. Thank you whoever you are!

Some places just shouldn’t promote with Groupon. I get it. You know your product is weak but don’t force me to keep coming back to the scary hole in the wall where creatures scatter when the lights are flipped on. The cookies are classically dry and fillings are more an idea than an implement. There are far better places that allow you to select from hundreds of fresh items. This place is not one of them.

This place sucks. I went here for some conchitas. Advertised for 4 for $ 1. When i got there the lady said it’s 3 for $ 1. Rip off. Don’t go there For a buck i rather go to a real bakery or grocery store down there street where it’s 40 cents for a bigger one than this small shitty looking ones. No mas…

I’ve given this place a chance 3 times and it fails all 3 times! The first time I had a spicy chilimango. It was ok. The second time they didn’t even have mango and I saw a fly inside the bread window place thing. This 3rd time my mom and I had a chilimango and it was disgusting. No flavor. Even the ice tasted like it was made from tap water. I don’t even know how it’s still open. I never see it busy. You need to go to Raspado Xpress! Now that place knows how to make some super delicious raspados!

The smoothies are good. The service was really bad. The lady closed the shop so she can use the restroom. We were shocked because the sign said open, but the door was locked. The lady also told us that the special was only for one family, but that did not make any sense. Overall, the lady was really rude and unprofessional.

It’s a little bakery but has a huge selection of pan dulce. I really like that they have minis of all sorts of pan dulce especially the cream or jelly filled ones! Flan is average and the gelatinas are very pretty! One problem with this place is that they had no business hours or phone number! I showed up at 7am and they were closed this morning! Please post real hours and phone number! :)

They have a really delicious mini empanadas 3 for $ 1. Highly recommend them! Their mango smoothies are pretty good too. Good service, she is always willing to explain to me what the pastries are.

I live right around the corner from this place and it’s always nice to stop in once in a while for fresh bread. The girls are so nice and the prices are really good. I love coming here when the bread is being pulled out of the ovens its so fresh and sweet. The best things to get here are the conchitas when they’re fresh and the empanadas. Strawberry, pineapple, and Guava are my faves. The flan is awesome too.

This was my first experience of pan dulce. so I prolly have no idea what I’m looking for in good pan dulce but maybe this will help someone. First things first, the service is really wonderful. A college girl greeted me upon arrival and I explained to her that I knew nothing of pan dulce however I liked bread, show me the good stuff! When I asked her my many questions, she was able to describe each one and recommended ones to me that she liked. For 4 pan dulces, and a flan with caramel, I only paid like $ 3.xx. Insanely cheap. But I guess I got what I paid for. I ended up getting the horn thing with the custard, the conchita, a guava empanada, and some cinnamon sugar hard croissant thing. Custard thing — The custard is more reminiscent of pudding but the bread containing the glob of diabetes was a little dense for me. I think I’ve become spoiled by the likes of 85. Conchita — this is a seashell looking bread thing, with sugar. baked into the top. The density of this wasn’t as fluffy as Asian bread, but it was softer than the custard horn and the cinnamon sugar thing. Fun to eat because the sugar on top crunched a wee bit in your mouth as you chewed. Guava empanada — I liked the filling of this, it wasn’t too sweet but had enough guava flavor. Too bad they didn’t have a guava cheese combo, though I think that’s a Cuban thing. The empanada was flakey but not overly so and it didn’t crumble when I bit into it. I think this was my favorite. Cinnamon sugar croissant thing — do not get this. It was pretty hard to where when you break it, it’s got the texture of .a cracker. Flan — I expected this flan to be of the thicker consistency you find in other Mexican establishments, however this was actually pretty similar to Vietnamese Flan. The one difference between the two however, is that the caramel in this was very«caramelly» tasting(as it is sugar.) and is not like the Vietnamese«caramel». I did not enjoy the caramel but the flan itself wasn’t too heavy. Cheap too! $ 1.50 Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be back, maybe if I was bored as fuck or I wanted a conchita and flan. The service was really nice but the bread didn’t wow me. 85fohEVaaaaaar

this place is quite hidden and located in a small plaza that look a little old. for the bakeries section, they have fresh pan dulce for u to choose from( ) and cookies( ) which im not a fond of. for the dessert section, they have chocolate flan for $ 3 and flan for $ 1.50 each( ). and for the beverages section, they have coffees, smoothies and some other stuffs which was reasonably priced. since many people seem to like their coffee, i decided to try this. it was 2 for $ 5 deal for blended ice coffee( ). i must admit that i wasnt impressed with the coffee i got. in fact, i was pretty disappointed. the ice wasnt blended smoothly. the big ice chunks at the bottom of my drink make it impossible to drink the coffee from the small straw i got. the coffee itself wasnt that strong. i prefer the ice coffee at costco for $ 1.50, which is cheaper, better, and smoother then i got couple of pan dulce and a cream bread( ). 4.5 stars for the pan dulce, it was so soft, crispy and moist. one of the better pan dulce in OC. it was really cheap too, i think about 75 cent each. i which chinese bakery would sell their bread at this price :). the cream bread was good as well, but the bread wasnt as soft as the pan dulce one. i ended up eating the cream inside, and threw the bread away. upon waling to the cashier to pay for my goodies, i saw the flans which was irresistible. it was $ 1.50 for each cup which i think was pretty cheap. they have the one with the caramel and the one without. i chose the one with the caramel( ) and it taste pretty good. nothing special, but not bad. yes they do accept CC, but its gonna cost u an extra 55 cent to use CC. so bring cash if u dont want to pay this extra cost.

We’ve lived around the corner and driven by Tobara for many years without stopping. Not sure why, maybe cause its kinda hidden in a run down looking strip mall. Came across it on Unilocal, read the reviews, then thought I’d give it a try. Normally, we buy our pan dulce from northgate for easy one stop shopping, may have to change it up. Stopped in on a Friday night and the two ladies working were very nice. I was greeted by the ladies and the smell of fresh baked pan as soon as I walked in. Yum! It sort of reminds me of the panaderias in Mexico, except that you don’t grab the tray and pan yourself. I am very picky when it comes to Mexican bread but I really enjoyed the 3 for $ 1 pastries that look like empenadas and have cream filling. Everything is fresh, the staff is very courteous and helpful! I will definitely be back to try the Mexican coffee and more of those empenada looking pastries!

This place has excellent pastries. If you love mexican style pastries for super low prices, come here. I like to try new coffee shops where ever I go, and I’m not disappointed I stopped in. Free Wifi, coffee is okay(could use some flavored creamer), and like I said excellent pastries.

The Mexican coffee here is to die for! I didn’t even spend 5 dollars and got a large coffee and 3 Mexican pastry’s that looked like they just came out of the oven. If you’re in the area I would definitely stop by. Way cheaper than Starbuck’s and better in my opinion…
