Shin-Sen-Gumi Robata & Yakitori-Fountain Valley

This is an honest review. 5 stars for the food, but 2 stars for the service (or store policy, idk you decide). If you have time please read my experience without getting embarrassed in front of your friends/​girlfriend:

This place reminds me of Japan and I love everything about it! The only one thing that I dislike is the long wait but now I’m just being a difficult brat: P
Now that we got that out of the way, here are the things that make me love SSGR&Y:
1) The loud screaming and yelling in Japanese every time someone walks in or out, or tips or whatever the occasion. I’m actually picking up on that. Who needs Rosetta Stone when you can learn Japanese in a much more fun and interactive way?
2) The best Yakitori in OC period! They easily blow competitions out of the water with their meat quality, cut, seasoning and of course godly grilling technique! Whenever I get to sit at the bar, I always try to buy Yuusuke a drink to thank him for the delicious skewers! It is much more fun to join the interaction with the chefs and waiters, trust me ;)
3) If you want to celebrate somebody’s bday, bring them here. The staffs will serenade him/​her with a 5 minute long of cheering in Japanese that I’ve yet manage to understand… I tried Google translate but it was too long and too fast to make something out of it beside birthday
4) Love their HH Yakitori specials on Mon & Tues as well as their beer special on Wed & Thu.
5) Some of my favorite: beef tongue, kobe rib, chicken liver, heart, cartilage, bacon wrapped enoki/​asparagus/​tomatoes/​quail eggs (you get the idea), grilled shrimp, squid legs, bone marrow stuffed mushroom, yellowtail sashimi
Overall, SSGR&Y is a great restaurant that never disappoints!
