I really appreciated the food and service. This gig is real. Hardworking people and they’re open until 5am on weekends. The tacos were fresh and the selection of ingredients were vast. I would not have guessed that a taco joint could make a mean red velvet cake as good as theirs was. GREATWORKGUYS, the execution is spot on and after five yeas you guys are still going strong.

I’m so glad I finally tried Velvet Taco. I went with two tacos under the assumption they would be small — they weren’t. I ended up stuffed. The Spicy Chicken Tikka was truly spicy and absolutely wonderful. The chicken wasn’t too heavily battered, so it didn’t get soggy from the mounds of sauce piled on it. My only complaint was that I wish it had more of the basil, the bites in the middle with that one tiny leaf were the best. I would definitely get this one again. My other taco was the Fish N’ Chips. It was good, although slightly bland. I really like the idea of the shoestring potatoes stuffed under the piece of fish. My friend ordered the Picnic Chicken and it was probably my second favorite. That potato salad, oh man. Apparently I now have a thing for potatoes in my tacos. Her second was the Annatto Shredded Pork. Put pineapple(grilled, nonetheless!) and pickled onion on ANYTHING and I am all about it. Last but not least, we each had one margarita. They were a strange color orange so I was a bit hesitant about it, but they were such a wonderful texture and packed a hell of a punch. Definitely gave me the post-office buzz I needed. I will definitely be back, and I will try my best to force myself to try something new this time. Let’s hope that Spicy Chicken Tikka doesn’t go calling my name…

SOOOO good. Seriously. I was in town from Southern California and these tacos were the best. I’ll be craving them for a while. So many different flavors to chose from. I tried a few different tacos and they were all amazing. The rotisserie chicken and the special fish taco were my favorite.

Interesting and quirky variety of tacos — the chicken tikka is the best by far. Street corn is your typical street corn but the red curry coconut queso is an interesting play. It’s a small space and is generally pretty crowded. Has indoor seating and outdoor seating facing 7th street. Very friendly staff and pretty quick service.

Love, love, love Velvet Taco. Tons of taco options(vegetarian, pork, chicken) plus specials, beer on tap, and those TOTS! Perfectly crispy tater tots with an overeasy egg, some lime cream, and some other delicious ingredients. I’ve liked everything I’ve tried, and come by regularly for lunch, dinner, or(mostly) some late night, post-bar indulgence. The FW location isn’t quite as busy as the Dallas location, but you can still expect to wait for 30 – 45 minutes(or more) if you’re planning on coming through at 2am.

All the bonus points for creative, delicious vegetarian options! The Nashville hot tofu is new and delicious(although pretty greasy, and the grease is BRIGHT orange, so don’t wear white), the fried paneer and falafel are both great, too. I’m mourning the couscous taco a little bit since they replaced it, but it’s good to see they keep the menu fresh. I’ve also seen a couple of fun veggie options on the daily special board, so don’t stay laser-locked on the menu board. They’re also willing to make substitutions — I’ve tried a couple of tacos from various other parts of the board by subbing the animal protein for tofu, paneer, or portobello mushrooms(they’re there, I promise — and SO good!). As for the sides, the corn is positively delish(so creamy!), and the tater tots(sans bacon, of course) are delightful, although they take some work to eat. I’ve also heard great things about many of their other non-veg tacos. They’re open super late so you can get your post-drinking taco fix, the staff is friendly, they’re pretty fast(not super fast — this isn’t Taco Bell), there’s a nice patio for when the weather isn’t awful, and the prices are right at around $ 4 for a standard taco — two of those things will fill you up no problem. I’ve made many meals out of one taco before; just add a side to split and you’re golden. Only disadvantages — they have long, shared tables, so be prepared to get to know your neighbors if you come in during busy times, and it stays pretty loud since the dining room is open to the kitchen. The stools aren’t the very comfiest, and the parking lot is also a major pain; it’s always(and I mean ALWAYS) full. Fortunately you can usually drive through the parking and out the back to find additional parking behind the bank next door. The food is also generally pretty messy — not that that’s completely a bad thing, just don’t plan to come here before that big work presentation.

Cute place with some really good tacos. I love the eclectic menu and those shredded beef nachos are to die for! Tried the mango soda which was pretty good and the rotisserie chicken taco. Can’t wait to go back to try other menu items.

Pretty tasty food here. I ordered the Spicy Tikka and the Annatto pork. Hands down the Spicy Tikka definitely takes the win. I wasn’t crazy about the Annatto pork. I think it would have been better without the slaw. The guy taking my order recommended the #11 Grilled flank steak but I don’t like mushrooms so I passed. I also got the side of rotisserie corn but decided it wasn’t for me. It comes highly recommended but I guess I just not a fan of creamy corn. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town! Ps: parking lots were full but if you drive around enough a spot will open up.

I have been burned here, but I’ve been back 3 more times to see if the quality has improved. Its gone downhill. Right now, instead of the fingerling potatoes with the crema Fresca, you’ll find a new«potato» side dish. Tater tots! Sonic quality. And covered with a fried egg. I’m sorry, but I think tater tots are frozen and disgusting. If I wanted to eat tots, I’d go to Sonic. The tacos sound so great from the menu, but the execution always fails. Always. I tried a pork taco and the meat tasted like it’d been frozen, thawed, and left under a heat lamp. Not good. I’m so over trendy taco establishments. They’re such a con. Authentic tacos from Revolver are a block away and they are stellar.

If you’re looking for a normal/boring taco, Velvet is not the place. If your looking for a fresh, unique taco, Velvet should be at the top of your list. My favorite is the fish ‘n’ chips which is a breaded fish fillet with mustard in a taco. The tots are a must: they come with an over easy egg on top and are totally worth the parking headache. Velvet has a nice selection of beer, though it’s a little pricy. Velvet is an «order at the counter» type of place, then you can find a seat at one of the many stools throughout the restaurant until your name is called. They have a nice patio area if the weather is nice. Parking sucks… there’s a tiny, gravel lot adjacent to the restaurant that’s usually full. Other parking options are on the street as most other spots are reserved for other businesses. This is a great spot to stop for lunch or to finish up a night of adventures on West 7th.

Meh! It’s ok It’s for white folks who don’t know what a real taco is but its cute. I had the the in house recommendation from which started with the nachos and then she recommended the #12 angus beef taco and the #3 spicy tikka chicken taco. Not gonna lie the brisket was yummy but the Chicken wasn’t for me. I loved the soda selection the black cherry went perfect with the food. but these are not Real tacos but they don’t suck. I say it’s worth trying out if you’re in the 7th street location and you want to get a strange taco. The main reason for my 3 stars is the price. For two tacos, small side nachos and small cup of soda costed $ 19. But on the good note the cute Latina up front was the best thing to look at and they have Mexicans making the food so that’s a good thing right?

Tacos might be my favorite meal. And velvet taco does not disappoint. Not come here looking for your simple everyday run-of-the-mill ground beef lettuce cheese tomato taco… You will be disappointed because they do not have that! They have very flavorful and unique combinations you would never think could go on a taco! Last Sunday running around town with my boyfriend we decided to have lunch at velvet taco. We started with the Thai queso… Hot damn was that good! I think we might just go back for beer and queso next time! I ordered the shrimp and grits wrapped in lettuce. The fact the offer lettuce substitutions is huge to me! The boy got the Cuban and whatever the special of the day was. Honestly the special day was not good. But you can’t win them all! His Cuban however was delicious!!! And best taco of the day! Along with our very cold beer it was a great day date!

When I say I love tacos, I really mean it. I heard so much about this location and I wanted to see if it lived up to its name. The staff is really not friendly and was so rude, that was the first mistake but we looked past his attitude and made the taco’s the positive. I ordered the picnic taco and my friend had the texas burger taco. Everything seemed ok when I ate mine. However I later became really sick from the taco, I ended up having to stay in bed for two days because the taco must have not been cooked all the way or something went wrong with my taco. After that experience I will say this really strongly, I WILLNEVERIN A BILLIONYEARSEATVELVETTACOEVERAGAIN. This has to be the worst taco experience I ever had. I give this experience and location zero stars and a thumbs down. You have been warned! So eat at your own RISK.

The best thing here is the chips and queso. I feel like I’m a cooler person eating here. Velvet Taco is located on the hip 7th street in Fort Worth, Texas. My favorite breakfast taco is loaded with Eggs, Bacon, and Tater Tots. I’m also a big fan of the cheeseburger taco. Don’t expect typical Mexican style food. It’s really its own style. The fountain soft drinks include a selection of independent brand offerings. I think you can buy traditional coke, but in a bottle. They offer adult drinks — my friends love their margaritas.

We tried out Velvet Taco once on a Sunday morning on a whim. Looking for places open early, and they are! Ok, their elote style corn is awesome. We’ve gotten it every time. For me the chicken tikka taco is perfection. And any of the ones with pork. They also have a very tempting looking potato side dish. I love tacos, they do it right. What else do you need? Oh! They also have really fun different sodas you can get.

Tacos are my jam, so any joint that I can stroll right into without a wait is top notch in my book. We arrived early on a Saturday afternoon to chow down before a TCU football game. The parking lot was dotted with cars, but plenty of seating was available inside(and on the patio). The girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful when it came to explaining the menu to us. She recommended the Crisp Tots w/Egg as our appetizer and it turned out to be divine. I went with the Rotisserie Chicken & Cornmeal Fried Catfish Tacos as my husband noshed on a Buffalo Chicken & A Bar N Wagyu Brisket Taco. With the addition of a Shiner and a ‘Not Your Dad’s Root Beer’ Beer, the meal was fantastic and I can’t wait to hit them up again for a little pre-game grub. They’d earn a 5th star from me if there were plates available. Eating from a stand is super messy, even for a clean-freak like me.

ABSOLUTELYBESTTACOSEVER. Really not much else to say, everything I’ve eaten there is absolutely delicious. Even the sides and their Red Velvet cake. I have not had anything I don’t like, everything is good. Super cool chill atmosphere and even better food. This is my absolute favorite place to go to for tacos: D My top favorite taco: The Texas Burger Taco… NOMNOMNOM!

I wasn’t really impressed with Velvet, but I was sober. I had the chicken tikka tacos and the Cuban pig. The chicken tikka had fried chicken, a pepper sauce, crema, cilantro. The cuban pig had ham, pork, bacon, Gruyère cheese, and pickle. I liked my tacos, but I didn’t like them. I liked my husband’s roti chicken though. The red velvet cake? I don’t even want to taco bout it. I’ma have to try Velvet Taco again. I have a feeling I’ll stick with Torchy’s, Revolver, Salsa Limon, or even Mariposa’s though. Put a few beers in me and then bring me here. Maybe it’ll gain a star or two.

What was I waiting for? That is what I was thinking about on why I was waiting to go to Velvet Taco it was wonderful. After all the buildup on how good they are I was ready for a letdown. But I was proved wrong the hype was right on. The 2 tacos I got were just prefect I had the Crisp Chicken Tikka taco and A Bar N Wagyu Brisket taco both were cooked just perfect and tasted great. The size is just right 2 filled me up. Did not need a side dish I would like to try a side dish but I will have to share it. The menu is broke down by the types of meat or Veg. Very easy to pick out what you want. The hard part is the decision they all look good. I will want to try some other tacos. But after the first 2 I may never try a different one. They also have a twist on the sodas not the usual brands. The location is not great the parking sucks. But they want to be in the trendy West 7th street and that is what you get. There is plenty of seating with long tables. You may have to share with other people. And they have a small patio looking onto West 7th.

Tired of Taco Bell? Lines too long at Torchy’s? Then it’s time to try something new and pretty great. Velvet Taco is a very underrated taco shop, close to University and 7th, very close to In-n-Out. The lines have always been short(more likely due to the quickness of the staff and cooks). The menus are located on the wall and they have many new and interesting combinations of tacos, some examples are the Cuban Pig, the Rotisserie Chicken, and the Buffalo Chicken. I can fill up on 2 – 3 of these tacos, that are also very well priced. I did order the queso once, but wasn’t impressed with it… not much for the price, and it was so-so. The ingredients of the tacos though are VERY fresh and well made. Homemade tortillas are the best part of VT in my opinion. They serve different brand drinks from the soda machine which is nice to mix up from the standard Cokes and Dr. Peppers. There’s plenty of seating inside, and there’s a nice patio that faces the street — complete with misters for the Texas heat! Are you military? They have a 20% discount for members! That’s the highest I have ever had(outside of free drinks from people at bars). This is prefect for drill weekend or if you’re visiting in from someplace else. All in all this is a great place to get a quick lunch, friendly service, at great prices.
