I have never been one to eat food from a restaurant in a gas station. When my boyfriend and I saw them listed on the star telegram, we had to try it out! By far, the best breakfast tacos I have ever had, and that is saying a lot because I am a huge fan of my mothers cooking. The tortillas are made fresh, food is made to order. I also like their choice of cheese to top off the egg and protein of your choice. It’s not your typical cheddar, but instead mozzarella. Do not forget the red and green salsa! They add a nice kick! So glad to live a skip and a hop away from this awesome hole in the wall, technically hole in a gas station!

Reading through all the reviews I knew I had to try this place. It was really good and cooked fresh to order. I cant believe all this time I never heard of this place. It is inside of the Shell gas station and it was 2 barstools there. I didn’t see a menu just pictures of food they served. If you’re in rush for food this is not the place unless you call in the order. I went during lunch time and it was busy packed. I waited a good while for food but it was well worth the wait. I will be going back to try the tacos.

Just shockingly good for an eatery in a gas station. That’s the only thing that keeps the last star away. The barbacoa burrito is the best in town and the green sauce is spicy and delicious. Maybe a little pricey but we’ll worth it. My only other issue is i wish they served food later so i could swing by on my way home from work.

Legitimately the best tacos both of us have had in DFW(I’m from Chicago, he’s from LA, so we DEFINITELY know good tacos.). They have chicharron tacos which he LOVES and I can never go wrong with my asada tacos. Lucky for us we live about a mile away! :)

The best authentic Mexican food I’ve had! Everything was absolutely delicious made from scratch. When I visit Fort Worth /Dallas Texas I will definitely be making stops here. — This is located inside the gas station, very hidden spot.

For my first trip in, we had a flauta plate and a chicken street taco plate. Very good. I will be going back again soon. Note: the hours as of this visit were 6:30AM to 4:00PM.

We’ve bought gas at this Shell station several times, but had never stepped inside. When searching for some tacos on Unilocal, this place showed up. We decided to give it a try after reading all the good reviews. We ordered some chicken and beef street tacos and they were both delicious! Very good price for all the tacos we ended up buying. Definitely recommend; will be stopping by again! Husband’s take: «Now that I know about it, I’ll be stopping by often!»

Check out this grill in the Shell station at I-30 and Cooks Lane(far east Fort Worth). Really great food. I had chorizo, barbacoa, and egg with potato street tacos for less than $ 5 total and they were fabulous. All were freshly made with flour tortillas. Last week I stopped by for a burger lunch. Oh, wow! Large burger with all the fixin’s… was outstanding. Take-out only and when busy they are a little slow but well worth the wait.

These tacos and burritos are amazing. If only they had a bigger place, then again if they did their quality might get lost.

This place is pretty yummy! I treat myself to their breakfast burritos once every 2 – 3 months. They are monstrous and one of the some of the best I have ever had.

This unassuming hole in the wall in the back corner of a Shell station has excellent burritos and the best authentic Mexican tacos in west Arlington: east Ft. Worth. They make their tortillas in-house. Be prepared to speak at least a few words of Spanish and to savor the flavor! I’ve lived near this place for nearly two years and only recently found out about it. I’m sad to be moving to the other side of the metroplex.

Always looking for any place that can crank out a good cheeseburger. Some of the better home grown ones always come outta places like this and it’s *somewhat* in one of the areas I’m in several times a week, so I got a chance to go after seeing the reviews. C Store grills don’t scare me. Hadn’t been in this Shell station for years. Walked in, went to counter a little before 2 pm. Several people waiting, someone behind counter asked what I wanted, got the cheeseburger and fries. I think it was about $ 8. I will say that one of the reviews is incorrect, on my visit, there was actually TWO stools to sit on. But no where to eat. Grab and go is your only option here. Order was ready pretty quick, I grab it and head back to work. Opened the container, and first thing that hit me was the burger is HUGE! Unless you cut it in half, it’s a two hander. The bun and patty had to be over 6″ in diameter. They don’t skimp on the veggers either. Lots of pickles, tomatoes, lettuce. Without asking they had grilled the onions, and I think I had a few pieces of bacon in there. It was piled pretty high. They put mustard and mayo on it, so when you order, you need to state what you do and don’t want. The way it came was fine with me. I manhandled it and got to stuffing. I thought it was fantastic. Simple enough burger, but a lot of it, really cooked and put together well. Fries were the bigger frozen ones, but they were fine. If they’d been fresh cut, I’d be in serious heart attack warning because I’d be in here more often than I’m already worrying about. Pretty close to burger Nirvana, for me anyway, depends on how you look at it. But I’m sold. Only down thing was with the mustard and mayo, and all the vegetables on it, the bun starts getting a little soggy pretty quick. I can deal with that in this case especially when it was this good. Inhaling it helped to, the faster you eat it, the less chance it has to get more soggy. But yea, the bun could use some fortifying, or another brand. Regardless, at this point it isn’t going to stop me from returning. Can’t talk about the other offerings, but the tacos look pretty good. Good thing about being in the C Store, you also have a pretty big option for drinks and stuff.

It’s not a dive because it’s in a gas station. It’s not a restaurant unless you count the perpetually occupied yet lonely barstool by the register. Tacos Cantu has been in business in the Cooks Shell Mart for seven years and in a town where people will go to great lengths for great Mexican food — this humble kitchen remains an unknown to most. Breakfast tacos? Yes. Tacos al pastor/carne/asada/y mas? Load me up. Tortas and hamburgers? Gimme. The menu is posted on the wall and occasionally they run a whiteboard special, but the name of the game is to be ready to order when it’s your turn. This is a small and lean operation where the cashier is best suited to preparing food. Sometimes it’s Mr. Cantu, sometimes it’s his mom. More on that later. When your edible south-of-the-border treasure is good to go, take it home to be devoured. Or to the car. Or in the car on your way home. I’m not here to judge anyone. You’ll notice a lot of pickups and trailers around during lunch, their crews savoring a little shade and an excellent meal during their breaks. Many people call ahead with their orders to avoid the obvious thrill of hanging out in a gas station for fifteen minutes with a few hungry strangers. The food is inexpensive and delicious, with generous portions and an authentic homemade flavor. As it should, with the owner’s mom manning the flattop with the precision of a surgeon and the flourish of an operatic conductor. Her salsa verde not only will clear your sinuses, but also instantly makes you more attractive to the opposite sex and triples your personal checking account balance. I checked. It’s science. They also have one of those Mexican sugar-loaded agua fresca drinks at the ready, served with love and a ladle into massive 44 oz styrofoam cups, just waiting for that fifth of vodka in the car. Whoa Nellie. Who knew hibiscus was so tasty? Like Chick-Fil-A, we are denied the magic of Tacos Cantu on Sundays, though instead of for family and worship, I think it’s so the owner can mow his yard and wash his underroos. Mr. Cantu is always there and odds are he personally oversaw at least some of your order. This can finally make you feel good about eating a gas station burrito!

This is my favorite mom and pop taco restaurant of ALL time! It’s at the Shell gas station on Cooks. Seriously… It is. That’s a big statement to say because there are so many in California and Texas! At Tacos Cantu, they make their tortillas when your order them and all of their hot sauces are made there! The avocado cilantro hot sauce is to die for! I usually order the barbacoa and chicken tacos! Their fried rice is to die for. You can they add a little lard to the fried rice which gives it an extra flavoring to it, which is very common in Mexican cuisine! The owner Mr. Cantu is really nice and attentive. He’s usually the cashier. You can this was his dream to open up a taco shop in the US. The tortas here are really good too and fresh. This place is inside the shell gas station. It’s pretty much a hidden gem in the area. It does get busy sometimes when I go to this taco shop. I wished they opened later since it would be awesome to satisfy my late night munchies! They close at 6pm too which is quite early. I am very happy to be the first reviewer of this restaurant establishment! Btw, this is a take out type of place, so definitely call in your order so you don’t have to stand around and wait!
