I do not think the Unilocal reviews do justice to the quality of food and customer service you get at this place. The girl at the register was rude, plus there is a lot of flies inside the restaurant.

Absolutely delicious food and sangrias! I ordered the Salsita Salad with steak, and extra avocado! Decent price and extremely fast and friendly customer service! Teensy tiny building, little seating, and half or more is located outside. Rush hour lunch, outdoor seating, late spring texas weather equals for a very sweaty lunch!

Okay food, decent price but nothing special. I don’t know, it’s not a place that I would go again. I feel like it’s not worth the drive since there’s a lot of places like this. The el captain was pretty good, very buttery, and makes you full quick. The tacos were meh. Didn’t get to try burrito but my cousin says it was good! Overall, not on my list of favorite Mexican joint

It was hard to give this place such a low rating but I used to frequent the original food truck on TCU campus and they always came through with the best tacos. Now that they have the stand alone restaurant off University, the food quality has significantly decreased and their prices have jumped. Not to mention the portions are much smaller. For the icing on the cake, the staff is rude and do not care about their customers. I don’t want to hate on Salsa Limon but they have gone down hill and it sure is disappointing.

Always good! I drive from Dallas to Fort Worth for these tacos! Classics are solid and the funky El Capitán style(flour tortillas with melted Oaxaca-jack cheese) are great to mix it up! Else oaky with the breakfast tacos! Their salsa is bomb, too!

First time visit! Loved the ambiance and décor. Had the pollo burrito, loved every single bite. The burrito was so filling I couldn’t even finish it all & I eat a lot! I tried all of the salsas except for the habanero because I know better haha. The horchata was of course my choice of beverage and it was yummy too!

Want a great, no frills taco? This is your place. The salsa bar is phenomenal too! I had the el Capitan with asada. It was delicious, but a little salty. My boyfriend had the barbacoa, tripe, and lengua tacos, and decided the tripe was his favorite. Great location and great place!

Because I don’t get to Fort Worth often, I like my journey to be well worth the effort. So when a friend told me we need to go to this«shack kind of place for beef tongue,» I laced up my shoes and skipped breakfast. And that’s not sarcasm. Having been born in Indiana and being all too familiar with the various prats of animals that you can ingest without needing to contact Poison Control, I was legitimately pumped for this voyage we were about to embark on one Saturday morning. And fortunately, Salsa Limon delivered on my lofty expectations. Upon pulling into the parking lot of this place, you might find yourself wondering what all the fuss is about. It’s apparently a pretty common occurrence to see cars jammed next to each other from breakfast until late in the evening outside the door here. We lucked out and happened to time it right when someone was backing out of a space behind the far wall. There is another lot you can park in should you come at a busy time(read: any day of the week ending in «-y»), so with a little patience and perseverance, you can get a decent spot and walk up to the little diner-lite building. And«diner-lite» is a kind of misleading description, I guess. It’s small, with a handful of tables, some counter-style seating and a few stools around the kitchen area. That’s it, and if you come when it’s raining or on a day when there are gale-force winds raging in 39-degree weather(like we did), be prepared to step inside and get cozy with your fellow diners. There are also various patio seats and tables outside, so if the weather is cooperating, you can have a great seat to watch traffic, both automobile– and foot-based. Anyway, we walked in and the place was hopping with activity. Families were eating, college students were enjoying an early-afternoon beer and someone was even reading the newspaper at the counter, reminding all of us that newspapers still exist in the wild. After a short wait in a line that moved with effortless efficiency, we were up to order and we opted for a lengua torta and two hibiscus teas. For $ 11. I point that out because, to me, that’s a steal of a deal. But I’m getting ahead of myself. With a pager and drink cups in hand, we headed over to the pitcher of tea, scooped some out and made our way to a table that happened to free up seconds earlier. My friend set his drink down, went up to the condiment counter and then returned with three dipping sauces. Two were green and one was a neon orange that I immediately thought would make an awesome color for a pair of shoes. By then, the pager went off and it was torta time. Portions are generous, and this proved to be a great surprise as Salsa Limon has the best beef tongue of anywhere I’ve been. This is entirely too much information on the subject of tongues, but when most places cook it, they nail the softness and the texture, but somehow make it devoid of any taste. Salsa Limon has somehow perfected the texture and, most importantly, the savoriness. It was basically like eating a beef stew sandwich, one that we could not finish fast enough. And remember that trio of sauces? Each one was better than the last, with that orange one assaulting my taste buds with the force of spicy deliciousness. Some might scoff at the idea of going to a hip-and-trendy eatery to eat a tongue sandwich but I’m convinced those individuals have not had the honor. To them, I say give it a chance. To existing fans of Salsa Limon, I say you have a new member in this fan club.

These tacos were legit. I had the Asada, Pastor and Chorizo. Each taco was better than the last ! They are served with cabbage slaw on two corn tortillas. Splash on some hot sauce to set your mouth on fire(all salsas had great flavor beyond the heat) and you’re set ! The michelada was icing on the cake. A new transplant to FW, I have been surprised at the variety on the taco scene — with not all options meeting expectations. This is the first great authentic Mexican taco I’ve had and I will be back.

My favorite taco joint. Always come here for the chicken tacos. Make sure you order your tacos with the cabbage, honestly gives it the most fresh and yummy taste. The burritos are yummy and so are the tortas. I can honestly say the only thing I didn’t enjoy was the salad. It was way too big and not like your typical salad. Come here with a small group of friends or your parents on the weekend. Order yourself some tacos and maybe a little Victoria or a Michelada for the adventurous. The outdoor seating is cool on summer days, but I usually like to sit inside by the windows facing outside.

The tacos here are awesome! It’s the cheaper mexican version of velvet taco. They have sangria and horchata. So its a winner in my book. Nice spacious patio area and decent parking on the side. Tacos are 2.50 each any filling u want! I strongly recommend the horchata because it’s not too sweet, and not too plain. It’s perfect!!! If u haven’t been than you have to make this ur next taco stop. You definitely won’t regret it. :) The employees are very friendly and so accomodating. :)

My friends, I have a philosophical question to pose: can one ever have too many tacos? Unlike most philosophers, I have a response to the questions I posit. No, you silly thing. You can never, ever have too many tacos. The ones at Salsa Limon are incredible. These are no anglicized fusion tacos piled high with fried chicken and kale(which have their place, of course); they’re the real-effing-deal. I love the ridiculously fresh cabbage slaw, the meats are making me drool at the thought, the corn tortillas are the perfect iteration. I like to get the El Capitan with barbacoa, a pastor taco, and a vegetarian taco(avocado, rice, and beans– sounds weird, tastes buttery and delicious). The actual salsas seem a little overrated, but I’ll definitely give them another shot. The patio is my favorite kind– a little hip, a little junky, dog-friendly, lots of plants in a container garden, overlooking the museums. I haven’t spent any time inside, but it’s on my list as we creep, slowly but surely, into the mid-October fall as temperatures drop from 92 to 90 to 87 as I type. I look forward to staying warm with tacos in Salsa Limon after perusing the latest at the Modern.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review of this wonderful establishment. I first discovered Salsa limon when they were just a food truck outside the cellar /across the street from the Aardvark on berry street. My colleagues and I always wound up here after a night out on Berry or even just after some classes at TCU. The staff are always so friendly, and the food always fresh! The burritos are huge, and my favorite meat choices are the Al Pastor, Barbacoa or Tripe! So delicious, and flavorful. The homemade salsas are to die for, the orange habanero is not for the faint of heart. It’s extremely flavorful and very spicy, but it keeps you going back for more. This is a must eat taco place for all those that love authentic tacos.

It’s been 21 hours and 2 minutes since we dined at Salsa Limon and my tastebuds are still singing. We avoided breath mints, water, and other foods for hours to properly allow the delicious taco and salsa favors to linger for as as long as humanly possible. Tacos are served street style(small), but 3 did the trick for me. Order the barbacoa. Wait, maybe that wasn’t clear: Order. The. Barbacoa. It tastes a bit more like shredded beef flavoring, but melts in your mouth a way one has only heard whispers of in dark sketchy corners. Stop at the salsa bar for habenero, pica, jalapeño & tomatillo options. Pro tip: mix the jalapeño and tomatillo together for pure joy. Eat, drink and be ready for your tastebuds to sing for hours to come.

Finally I was able to try Salsa Limon after months and months of passing it! Lately, my husband thinks he turns into a pumpkin if we leave SW Fort Worth. Hey, we have places to eat man. Nah, Can’t blame him since he works all the time and is tired. Me getting up with 2 crazy kids at 6 am so when he gets off work and wants to go out to eat our conversations are usually like this He gets off at 9 pm, usually home by 930ish. Him: What you want to eat? Me: –What my belly says: Magnolia! 7th Street! Anything but Bryant Irvin and Hulen! –What my body says: Whatever you want Him: I’m tired It’s late. Let’s eat something quick or close so we can go home Late? It’s 9:45. We are in our late twenties and early thirties! 945 is late? To a stay at home mom of twins plus a college student and a dad that works 10+ hours a day, I would guess so. lol Anyway, so my eyes lit up when he actually got off of Hulen and drove down Bellaire to get to University. Really? Am I dreaming? NO! It was REAL! I got the pastor tacos and asada tacos. My husband got two asada el capitans. I liked the tacos, but the el capitans are where it’s at. It’s like a big quesadilla not like a quesadilla! It was delicious and cheap. I would probably get the el capitans next time. Love the cheese that came on it.

Fantastic Micheladas? — Check Real-deal Al Pastor? — Check House-made salsas with heat variances of mild to napalm? — Check Located across from Museum of Modern Art on University/W 7th, this small little gem serves up fantastic eats at a reasonable price. This would be a great place to hang out during nice-weather nights as they have a nice porch.
