I walked into Kristy’s nails, and it was not the bustling place it used to be. There were two people working there and I am almost positive one of them was sleeping in the«waxing» room and came out when we walked in. I suspect this place will not be open long, since they have not upgraded to the same level of excellence as some of the other nearby nail salons. They did an okay job on my nails, but it took a long time and wasn’t anything special. I would rather go somewhere where they make me feel comfortable and relaxed and give me a glass of wine rather than somewhere in huge need of a re design with little bugs on the ground and multiple obvious upgrades needed.

I got my eyebrows done and mani-pedi. My eyebrows were getting very bushy but mary fixed it for me. They were even and symmetrical. It was very nice. The maicure and pedicure were okay. If I rated the manicure from 1 – 10 I would give it a 6, because of the time. The pedicure was great. I like the room where the massage chairs were. It was relaxing and the pedi turned out great. There were no streaks or smudges. I would definately come back again. Thinks its a great choice.

For a quick pedi and brow wax, this worked just fine. I prefer my regular salon back home, but Mary did a killer job on my badly overgrown brows. The pedi was less than I’m used to for the same price back home. Sub-par massage, nail work, and sugar scrub, but I did like the paraffin wax dip. For picking a random place off Unilocal,it wasn’t a bad pick.

Note: I know it’s been a long time since my last review but you must forgive me fellow Unilocalers! I have been going through tons of changes in my life and I just moved to Ft Worth for a job. So now begins my exploration of this lovely city. Stopped by here to get the gel manicure that everyone’s been raving about! Hmm, I have to say I’m rather disappointed. Not necessarily in the gel polish, but the job done here. I got french tips and they seriously look like I tried doing it myself. Since the technician wasn’t really being careful, he would get some of the gel on my skin and cause it to peel up the polish a bit. That goes against the whole«staying on for at least 2 weeks» deal. For $ 35(since it was french tip) I could have just gotten a mani/pedi combo. I’ll go elsewhere before I turn down gel nails completely.

I have odd eyebrows. Depending on who I go to for a brow wax, each waxer has done my eyebrows differently. I’ve had people who’ve busted out scissors and started clipping away(cringe are they really that long?) to people who did speedy 2 min waxes, and then I would later look in a mirror and see eyebrows so thin it looks like I’m constantly frowning. I’ve been on the lookout for years for the perfect eyebrow wax and pedicure/manicure place, and I’ve found it here. This place is great. It is my go to place for eyebrow waxes($ 8). I love Mary but I’ve had them done by others and they’re all high quality waxers. What is also very, VERY refreshing about this place is that they may politely ask you once or twice«would you like a lip wax?» but are NEVER pushy about it. One time, I walked into a salon and after politely declining a lip wax, the waxer prods, «are you SURE? You REALLY need it!» *nervously pats invisible mustache* This place also gives great pedicures, at a competitive price($ 35 for a regular spa pedicure). You can get a bonus flavored scrub or sea salt rubbed in and a foot massage for an extra price. The ladies at the salon are very sweet and don’t criticize your feet(I’ve also had my feet critized for being dry and flaky. I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was giving the queen my feet to scrunitize). The salon owner is fantastic. He remembers your face after a few visits, greets you happily whether you come in early in the morning or right before closing and offers you water. Speaking of closing, they happily stay open after hours to accomondate you if you get out late from your job. How awesome is that? The place is very hygienic, very gentle with your feet, and have great massage chairs(that actually work!) for you to relax in while getting a pedicure. Honestly, I know that touching feet all day can be a depressing job, and so I don’t expect super friendly service all the time, but Kristy’s Nails has always given me great service, no matter who I get.
