Thumbs down. Very disappointed. Won’t be returning. Bad service, also rude service. Rude because I came in at 12:15 on a Sunday and wanted to order a brunch item with eggs, and the owner was inflexible and said I had to order off the lunch menu which was mostly sandwiches. The owner apparently does not want to spend money on hiring servers and insists on doing TOOMUCH on his own. You’ll never get your drink refilled unless you walk up to the counter and wait for him to get done with whatever he’s doing. Food was good, not mind-blowing…but we waited almost ANHOUR for the food to arrive. That’s right. You’ll have to be extremely patient in this place. Bottom line: the food was not good enough to compensate for the bad service and extremely long wait. Ambience was interesting with lots of antiques to look at, but could use some extermination services because I saw two small spiders coming off the wall while I was there.

What a hidden gem. Anything on the menu is amazing. Hours are a little weird but they can do that. Make sure to bring cash and don’t be in a hurry. They really take there time for the food.

Awesome and eclectic atmosphere. Homemade Greek food and friendly staff. Be aware that it is cash only though. The food was delicious, my only criticism is that the gyro didn’t come with onions. But their tzatziki was a spin on the original with chopped up cucumbers and onions in it and was definitely very garlicky.

Just had lunch there after I read a good review. The parking is difficult. Hard to figure out where the front door is. Dirty courtyard looks like a flea market. Service was incredibly slow. No refills on our drinks(party of 4). Ordered Giro sandwiches which were just a sparse few pieces on greasy grilled pita… over a bed of Ruffles potato chips. The hummus and Tabouli was watery. No one ever came back to give us our check, so we went to front to pay. Of course they don’t accept credit cars either. There is no sign stating this. We had to scrape together our money to pay the $ 49.80 bill for four sandwiches. Horrible experience… one of my worst in Fort Worth.

JAZZCAFERULES!!! The dude that owns the place is the most no bull kinda guy. Straight to the point. It’s one of those places that keeps you in touch with the real human experience. The place is more eclectic than a bennigans and the food is grade A eats. It seems like the church people next door kind of avoid it which is great. Can’t wait to live on the patio during good weather season. Ohhhh yeah two thumbs up.

I give it 5 stars based on ambiance alone. We had a delicious lunch on a Saturday afternoon listening to live jazz. If you are persnickety about cleanliness, orderliness and speedy service go elsewhere, no one will be happy. Fortunately I do not suffer from persnickety so I was able to bask in the eccentricity and garlic. This is a Ft Worth gem.

I have been going here for 30 years and I have known the owner(nick) for just as long. He has the best gyro I have ever had and his black beans are to die for. It’s a very laid back and casual atmosphere. You will see Nick in the kitchen cooking and you will also see him come out and play one of many instruments with the band while you eat. Also the breakfast is really good, I suggest the eggs Benedict or the migas :)

We came here for lunch on Sunday. It’s a quaint little place that looks run down from the outside and you wouldn’t necessarily expect it to be a restaurant since it’s in a house. The food was good but a bit pricey for the portion sizes. I got a gyro which was good but came with bagged potato chips for the side. The girlfriend ordered the small Greek salad with gyro meet. The portion was good for her but it was an extra $ 4 for the gyro meat that couldn’t have been more than 4 oz. We ordered a sampler size of hummus to share and it wasn’t really enough. The upside to the hummus though was that it was very good. They’ve got a little performance/recording area that they have live music playing from, they just don’t post when and who.

My boyfriend and I were in search of a cheap place to near the Kimbell, and I had remembered a friend told me about a hold in the wall Greek place. So we came to jazz café knowing it was a divey place. As we walked through the patio it definitely had a garage sale feel. We venture in to find a hodgepodge Decour meets Garage band. The very nice gentlemen gave us the menu. My boyfriend and I were both in shock of the high food prices! We started with the«sample» of hummus, for $ 4 you get a tiny dollop of hummus and one whole wheat pita. The hummus was great and the olive oil set it way above the store kind. For my entrée I got the small Greek salad with a side of gyro. Again the salad was premixed and sooooooo delish! The meat was TINY! Maybe four bites worth! Great food horrible quantity! My boyfriend had the gyro, it came Premade ruffle chips. We about licked our plates clean. As we walked back to our car we both agreed we wouldn’t be back.

Found by accident, was looking for a whole in the wall restaurant. Boy did we find it! The entrance was virtually impossible to find, the furnishings were a Hodge Podge of anything they could find at a garage sale. All that added to the experience, was some of the freshest Greek cuisine I have had in a while. Highly recommend and be sure to bring plenty of cash as they do not accept credit. Another added bonus, live music.

Very good breakfast… I had the black bean enchilada with sour cream, fresh pico and avocado, my husband had the three egg omelette with feta and homemade biscuits! Total price with one coffee less than $ 20! Nice atmosphere and good music!!!

service was great; but limited selection of food items; overall just blah; cool setting unique place with live jazz music; fairly pricey for what you get as well; im not sure how this place made fort worth’s top breakfast places. maybe it was the combination of setting that helped

I am from two hours south of Ft Worth and while helping a sick friend see her doctor here she treated me with lunch at Jazz’s(twice!) This place is very quaint and quirky, but the sandwiches are great. One time I got a tenderloin with avocado on a homemade bun; today I got a delicious hamburger made from lean sirloin. My friend had lamb and a salad both times; we really enjoyed our lunches. I also enjoyed my iced tea and made a comment that some restaurants just can’t make decent iced tea, which is a pity. The service, while slow, evokes times past when people enjoyed their meals rather than wolfed down a lunch in 30 minutes. This is the opposite of fast food. Here they really know how to prepare and serve real food. I also noted they had some interesting vegetarian choices; I would like to bring my daughter here if she weren’t living in Cali! Maybe someday…

Jazz Café is one of the best kept secrets in town. I’ve been going here for lunch for at least fifteen years and am never disappointed. I recommend the Greek salad(ask for pita bread and make a pita sandwich by stuffing the pita with salad), the Green Gobbler and definitely the black bean soup. They make their bread in house so all the sandwiches are great. Don’t go expecting a quick meal though. This is a family run with a small kitchen. The owner is often found playing the sax with a few of his friends.

Jazz café is a Fort Worth institution. I am so glad that they have remained EXACTLY the same and haven’t sold a inch of land to the monster church rapidly expanding on the corner. Stay strong guys :) This place is the same as the first time I came over 10 years ago. The tables are small and the booths are cozy. Saturday and Sunday there is live jazz. The eggs florentine are my favorite in the city. The hollandaise is nice and lemony. The coffee is strong and they refill endlessly. I’ve had other things for lunch, but I really love the florentine. That’s what draws me here on Sundays. I have never had a problem with service. If you come when the place is packed out the door, be rational and expect to wait. HA! I’ve been when it’s slow and the service was on point. I can barely drink half my coffee before they refill it. Eggs hit the table in a flash. Make sure you bring cash because that’s all they take! It’s not spotless inside. It’s quirky. It’s full of good people and great food. It’s filled with local love.

Gyro: $ 8– soft, buttery-like pita bread & salty-savory bits of meat & served with side of potato chips. Babaganoush small: $ 6.50– could have used a squeeze of lemon and dash of salt; otherwise, good. Initial impression: «Maybe the outside décor looks better in the night?» Service is friendly and it is a classic, family –owned establishment. One thing is that the inside could use a fresh coat of paint and the bathroom door frame needs to be refinished. There is a fine line between shabby-chic and grungy & when there is discoloration, from dirt and such, on white paint it’s time to jazz it up(pun intended).

This place is quirky and has great hummus. Sort of a sophisticated«hole in the wall». I had a turkey sandwich concoction with chips. Only negative is it’s cash/check but definitely worth it if you’re down with the pay-system. A lot of menu items seemed yummy, I’ll be back again to sample more.

I was suuuuper excited to come here. After reading the reviews we expected to have crappy service but not THAT crappy. We love us some jazz so brunch and jazz seemed like a win-win. We got there a little before 12 and walked in and NOONE helped us. We could only see two people who looked like they were working in the entire restaurant. We didn’t know if it was open seating or if we should wait. After standing around for a bit and having a waitress stare me in the face and ignore me, we decided to just sit down. After being looked at and ignored a few more times I decided to go up to the waitress to get a menu. I only saw lunch menus out. I asked about breakfast and she says«We stopped serving breakfast at 12pm.» It was 12:01pm. Sigh. I grabbed a lunch menu and we looked it over. They had salads and sandwiches and the regular Greek foods(gyros and baba ganoush) but I was in the mood for brunch and at this point getting a little hangry(anger out of hunger). We left. Jazz Café, you FAIL.

Ok I must admit, I was nervous to try this place based on the looks. But I am so glad to did! The sampler platter was a great start to the meal and helped tide over my hunger until lunch came. I also had the coffee and it was very good. For lunch, I had the museum burger with a Greek salad. The meat was cooked to perfection and the salad was not overdressed. I thought the service and jazz ambiance was charming. I did not expect speedy service, nor care since I went with great company. It felt like you were eating at a family members house. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to family and can’t wait to go back!
