Best authentic German food in Fort Worth or Dallas! Chef Peter and his lovely wife Vladka do it with love. The whole experience was amazingly laid back and I did not want to leave. You are treated with a personal touch like few restaurants offer. Great location for a family outing. Very reasonably priced for Master Chef quality food at an affordable family price!

Quaint, authentic, and delicious! Like going to someone’s home for dinner. The owner makes all the food from scratch and his wife is a gracious server/host. They were very accommodating with our two kids. Highly recommend!

This place is absolutely wonderful. It was recommended by friends who are from Germany as the best place in Fort Worth to get German food, and they were right! Their home made breads are wonderful. The sauerkraut and red cabbage are awesome. The schnitzel, potatoes, and bratwurst are fantastic. You also get really great and friendly service at very reasonable prices! Try it out and enjoy!!!

Very good German food. The menu is sort of confusing. The online one says one thing, the one at the restaurant says another. I didn’t see German potato salad on the menu but they had it. It was a dollar extra and worth it. Dill dressing on the dinner salad was great. Cream of asparagus soup, okay. Jagerschnitzel, great. A friend had the sauerbraten and said it was very good. In DFW there are very few restaurants like these and this one is a hit. It is worth the 40 minute drive from my house. This place is a hole in the wall, mom and pop type place where mom and pop cook the food. That means it might take a little longer, so you wait. It might be a little more expensive because there is no corporate backing. They close on time, because they’re tired. If you want cheap and quick, go to a chain. If you want some good, home cooked German food, go here. As of ¾/2016 there is a sign on the door that says they do not have lunch on Thursdays and Fridays, although it does say they do on the website.

I have had German food in Germany, Switzerland and numerous cities in the U.S.; this in my opinion has to be the BEST. They have taken the few dishes on the menu and created some of the most wonderful tasting German food you can find in the DFW area. The place is not overly big and noisy like some German restaurants around this area; the owners are wonderful people and more than will to answer any questions you might have. If you love German food, you have to eat here.

It is hard to find good German food. You can’t take short cuts in this cultural culinary cuisine. We took friends for this festive dining establishment. The seating was full and there was a graduation celebration going on at a reserved area. Fortunately we being early, were able to get a table for 4. The menu is simple two sided laminated sheet. They offered 2 specials. Although a short offering, the variety is diverse. All of our meals were very tasty. My pretzel was soft and gently salted. They provide a basket of German breads(sliced) before the meal. They hand a list of wines and beers, that we did not order from. We will definitely return.

Greatness. If you like«Hole In the Wall» type places, this is for you. Food was delicious Service was Exceptional Best German Cuisine in Fort Worth! It’s a must if you want to divert from the commercial monotony of chain restaurants.

I showed up to have dinner at 8:40pm and was immediately approached and refused service. The explanation«Our kitchen is closed we close at 9pm and don’t have time to cook you food». I drove 45 minutes to try this restaurant out. I can guarantee you I will never go back and will advise everybody I know to eat at anywhere but here. Be advised all patrons they close at 9 be prepared to vacate the premises at 9.

I ate here last year and went back last night with my family to celebrate my birthday. Everything was as delicious as it was a year ago. Our waitress was fantastic and one of the owners came by our table to make sure everything was good. The outside of the restaurant isn’t much to look at but the inside is warm and homey with great food! My 8 year old daughter loved it so much that she wants to go to Greenwood’s for her birthday!!! I wish I could give more stars but I’m only allowed 5. I would give them a star rating of 100!

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Did I mention that the food was excellent? Authentic German food prepared from scratch by an authentic German Master Chef — a definite must try if you’re in the area. You won’t be disappointed.

We always passed this place up going to Mellow Mushroom. Finally, one day decided to give it to try. I am glad we did! Authentic german food with a quiet, relaxing atmosphere! I usually get the Schnitzel with mushroom sauce with a salad and red cabbage. It’s sooo good. I love the salad dressing. I think it’s based with Dill. The mushroom sauce is very rich and you get decent size portion. My husband usually gets the bratwursts. My grandma got Saurerbraten when I took her and it was awesome. The red lentil soup, potato pancakes, pretzels are all amazing. They serve Rouladen on the weekend. I want to try that next time. Meat stuffed with bacon, onions, and pickles sounds amazing! :P

Greenwood’s, a long-running German /European restaurant in Fort Worth, is good. I would not exaggerate and say it was overwhelmingly amazing but it was good. Our service was ok and food was ok. The restaurant is in need of some repair. Comfy chairs would be a start. Also if you are going to put cushions on hard wooden chairs, make sure form isn’t totally visible on one side. Sauerkraut, rötkraut were pretty standard. Sausages were a bit overdone. My salmon, while very good, felt like it was from frozen. I know some people don’t like the skin but I would rather it be there so I can see it is a fresh fish. Overall this is an ok restaurant

Incredibly overpriced. Two schnitzel’s and a potato pancake appetizer for $ 45 before tip. The food wasn’t bad, but nothing special. The owner brought out complimentary sauerkraut, which was the best thing we ate there. Cutting the price of the schnitzel to $ 12 and the potato pancakes to $ 4 would change my rating.

Today was my first time visit here. It’s quite out of the way for us but have heard a lot of good things, so we ventured out today. I ordered a red lentil soup, but wasn’t sure if I didn’t get the potato soup instead. Normally I would ask the waiter but this was so yummy, I almost licked the bowl. And I still think I got the latter, because it was rich, thick, potatoes, bacon or ham. Really good! We had potato cakes with applesauce for appetizer, which were nice and crispy outside, just like back home in Germany at my parents. Kid had chicken fingers with fries. The fries were the best I had in a long time. Very crunchy and crispy, not oily, just how I like them. Hubby had sausage plate with sauerkraut, red cabbage and fried potatoes(Bratkartoffeln). I sneaked a taste of all and it was delicious. Last but not least I had cheese Spätzle with fried onions(Käsespätzle mit Zwiebeln). So yummy! Homemade Spätzle — Very rich and I took half of the portion home. We also took Apple Strudel home. Overall as a native German I can say it was absolutely yummy and authentic! Food was 5 stars plus. Service was great, location very nice and extremely clean. Just wished there were more beer varieties, that’s why 4 stars. Definitely worth the drive from the northern metroplex! I’m sure we will be back.

Great atmosphere, authentic food. The servers are skilled too. So nice to visit a real restaurant, no sports on TV while you are trying to converse and eat. Wonderful and well priced specials: Tuesday is schnitzel night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Moderately priced and delicious.

This place is incredible. I had to benefit of growing up in a culturally diverse group. One of my good friends is veitnamese, so I grew up eating his family’s authentic vietnamese food(i’m actually about to head out the door for some phở right now!!). My best friend is German and his grandmother used to make spaetzle for us all the time. This place is spot on. I had the Jaegerschnitzel with a spaten optimator and my buddy got a giant plate of spaetzle. The mushrooms and hunter gravy were perfect with the pork and complimented the beer well. I stole my buddy’s spaetzel when he wasn’t looking and it brought me back to my childhood. I’m so happy I’ve found this place! The service was also amazing! Our server never let us feel neglected but she also wasn’t hovering over us the entire time which I cannot stand. A few things about the place. This place has the look of a small, family owned quaint restaraunt because that’s exactly what it is. The owners Vlatka and Peter run this place. Their accents indicate that they are German born. The food can be pricey but not as much as other German restaraunts that i’ve been to and I believe this place is superior in taste to the others. Also they have specials all throughout the week. I highly recomend going in on tuesday nights. Tuesdays nights are«Schnitzel Nights» which means they mark down the price of schniztle ridiculously low(like $ 10!!!)…So I’ll be coming back here often not only because the service and food is amazing, but also to see the look on my friends faces when I order schnitzle and their surprise that it isn’t what they think it is!(9 times out of 10, they think its a hot dog… dead serious)

Dined in here tonight and had two different kinds of schnitzel, one with a delicious mushroom sauce and the other with the onion sauce. Both were served with salads that were fresh and with a light dressing, as well as two kinds of delicious bread. One of these breads was thicker and heavy(almost like cake) while the other was light and fluffy; I’d never had bread like either of these before and found it to be amazing. Both entrees also came with the option of pan fried potatoes or spaetzle(noodles). The potatoes were perfectly cooked and complimented both of the schnitzel very well. Upon chatting with our waitress, who I believe was the wife of the chef, we learned that there are specials on different nights and that sometimes the chef will cook surprise(random) specials from night to night. Tuesday offers a significant reduction to the price of schnitzel and Thursdays is the chef’s special. Some of the specials are also unique, such as German Meatloaf(which I cannot wait to taste). I had a Konig Pilsner with my meal and it was an excellent beer to pair with the schnitzel and potatoes. If you’re looking for authentic German in the DFW area, it doesn’t get better than this offering coming to you from the German city of Offenbach.
