Did we order wrong? I don’t know… But everything was just«meh,» at best. I heard these were great burgers — not solid, not okay — great! And from multiple people. So when we went I was excited to order a burger. And then it came out and was just adequate. Also I think there was some confusion or mix up because my burger had no toppings(no onion, no, no lettuce…) But everyone else had already been served(mine came out a few min later) so I just went with it. Fries were fine. Nothing special — just normal which was also surprising given the reviews.

One rainy day and a husband who wasn’t in the mood for the«what do you want for dinner. I don’t know» game, he just pulled in to the parking lot. He’s been wanting to eat here for awhile, so I was down. It is a Fort Worth Institution after all!. One look at the menu and you can kiss eating healthy goodbye. A side salad and burger salad. A burger on lettuce didn’t even sound appetizing. I originally ordered the chicken fried steak, but I changed my order because I wasn’t in a fried food mood. I got the Bacon mushroom burger. It was pretty tasty, but very greasy. Or was it juicy? I don’t know. It wasn’t bad. Kudos to them for making the bacon crispy. Usually places will put wimpy bacon on a burger. My husband enjoyed his burger. I believe he got the BBQ cheddar burger. I got the chicken fried steak for my Grandma to go. Of course, I tasted it when I got home. It had more batter than meat on it. 2 ounces of meat with like 5 ounches of batter. It was okay. I thought that is what Fred’s is known for though and expected it to be better tasting. My kids and husband enjoyed it, so I definitely will be back. Those crispy bacon cheese fries sound delicious right now.

Food is good, normally service is fine… but today it was terrible! We came in and sat down, no one greeted us. We looked around and even got up to look on multiple occasions for a waiter… they all seemed like they were just not paying attention to us. Another table came in and were promptly given menus and placed drink orders, we were finally able to get the server’s attention to ask for menus(we were there for 10 – 15 minutes at this point). We did not get our drinks until long after that tables order had been placed. Then we ordered… and waited… and waited… the other table, as well as a few others had finished and paid and we still didn’t have our food. All the while we were beginning to look around for our server to see what the issue was to no avail. We finally had to stand up and hunt her down to inquire about our food. She said it was just a few minutes longer, but then the large table who ordered after us got their food! At this point we talked to a manager, as our food was finally arriving. We were told he would check the food times, so we began eating. Manager came back and said the time in the computer was at fifteen minutes(at this point we had been there over an hour). We informed him of that, and he seemed unconcerned, so did the server. I gave it two stars because normally everything is fine! It was just terrible today, we had to get back to the office since it was lunch, and the staff seemed unconcerned with that fact! As a former server myself I feel I am a little more understanding of slow service… but this service was just ridiculous!

Great burger bar. We thought we would try out a Saturday afternoon burger at Fred’s and we’re not disappointed. It’s by the college and so has a strong Texas and strong college feel. Great place. The food was very good burgers and large portions and the drinks were cold and flowing. This is on my return list. And should be on yours.

If I’m going to a TCU sporting event, I’m usually going to Fred’s either before or after. The green chile burger is my favorite.

I liked it. I had the patty melt w/fries. My dad has the regular Fredburger w/fries. They were both good, although a bit more«done» than we generally prefer, and the service was fast & friendly. This place is trying to «look old,» but I’m sure that’s just décor. There’s not a ton of parking available for all the businesses there around Bluebonnet Circle, so I’m not sure how so many restaurants are going to survive in that small of an area, with so little parking. If you can find a place to park and get inside, though, the food is good. If I ever try the«original» on Currie St, I’ll be curious to see how it stacks up.

This is a great place to get great hamburgers. The fried pickles are really, really good. You can’t go wrong here! I look forward to going back and trying out more of their menu.

I came for the first time and ordered to go for a late dinner. I’ve heard a lot about this place and decided try it out. I ordered the bacon mushroom burger and fries. By the time I got home, my fries were kind of stale already. The burger tasted ok. I got a medium rare burger(slight pink inside). The meat was pretty juicy and flavorful. I wasn’t crazy about the buns or the sauces inside. I feel like this burger would’ve been better with less condiments and extra. I think I would have loved the fries if they were still hot or at least warm! Not crazy about stale fries Overall, not a bad place, but not the best burger joint in town. Fries were stale, The burger was ok, but the meat was so good… All the extra stuff in the burger took away from the taste of the delicious patty.

Easily the worst experience I have ever had at any establishment. Apparently there are two servers here on a game day, and no bus boy. Every table that isn’t occupied is stacked full of dirty dishes. The servers that are here are, shall we say, less than helpful. It may be a great establishment, but it’s impossible to tell because the service is horrific.

Stopped by Fred’s TCU after a movie at the MOMA. It was pretty late for us, around 10pm on a Thursday. Husband had Diablo burger and fries and I had the fried pickles. Husband said burger was excellent but a bit sloppy. My fried pickles are to die for!

The food is great, the service isn’t. Fried pickles are a must. I wish they’d hire more servers. It shouldn’t take more than 30 min to get your food.

I’ve never been more disappointed. Although the bartender was attentive, she showed no concern with the fact that I was unhappy with the margarita. Even after buying more tequila to try to make it better, it still sucked. I didn’t even drink half of it! And a the meal was so flavor-less that I had to douse it with salt and pepper. I never do that! They should stick with Just burgers; It’s about all they do well. Just a very bad experience all together. Usually, I would raise nine kinds of hell. But it’s Sunday, and I’m watchn the game.

Are here today with my family and extended family today. Upon entering we were not greeted and sat ourselves which was fine… But we then had to wait at least 10 mins for a waiter to approach us to take drink orders and give us menus. Fortunately, that was the end of our bad service. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive after that. The food was absolutely to die for 4 of us had the double h burger with the egg which was amazing. We had fried pickles to start which were hands down the best fried pickles I’ve ever had. Excellent food, excellent service. Just a rocky start.

Awesome hamburgers, cold beer, and live music. What more do you need in life?! This place is great, if we are ever craving a hamburger it always makes it to our top 2 choices. One of the best burgers you will ever have! We have come to this location during the week a few times and they always have a pretty good crowd. They even had live music on a Wednesday! Great laid back atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. When my fiancé and I first came our waiter’s name was Joel and he was very helpful in getting everything we asked for. The next time we came in about a month later, he was our waiter again and remembered us, not only us but exactly the beer we both ordered! He had it ready to go! Talk about good customer service! I would def recommend this place to anyone, and will always go back for more!

I went with a couple who have been a fan of this location of Fred’s for a long while. It is located in an older established location of Fort Worth. The restaurant faces a wide traffic circle, probably the largest I’ve seen. It would be easy to miss the restaurant in the strip mall if you’re not paying attention. The interior is a bit of a dive, but was clean. Older, more bar like than not in décor, but the feeling wasn’t so much of a bar necessarily. More like an old established joint that serves basic food and some cold beer. I stuck with the recommendation of their chicken fried steak. It is one of the finest I have ever had, I just can’t enough good about it. The sides were not optional: you either said«yes» or «no» to the sides. The chicken fried steak came with pinto beans, greens, and a vegetable. All 3 were excellent, exceeding my expectations. I don’t usually enjoy greens, I find them bitter. Fred’s took them over the top. The service was good, but not excellent. They did keep my drink filled up which is a major plus. The atmosphere is a bit dark and the exterior could use a little modernizing or remodeling(just a touch) to add some feeling it is cared for in a loving fashion. Not unacceptable though, just old. I will be back, recommended. I reserve 5 stars for only if I can’t make a recommendation on how to improve. They could stand to work on the building interior and exterior, follow through with service better once the meal is complete, and perhaps offer a few healthy choices on the menu.

Best Patty Melt ever! Been here 3 times now. Always consistently great! Ice cold beer! No joke… Ice will be floating on top of your beer! Patty Melt is cooked to perfection… Perfect amounts of cheese & onions! So yummy! And of course. Fries! The staff has always been friendly and prompt. It has 2 sides. A more quiet, relaxed side and a sports bar like side. Great bartenders on both!!! And TV’s! A must try for some uniquely made Burgers. in FW!

I must say that I was nicely surprised by this place. I stopped here for lunch with my coworker because it got good reviews on Unilocal, but when I walked in I realized it was a bar and was worried about just having bar food. The staff was friendly and prompt and we were able to choose where we wanted to sit. The menu’s reside on the tables and naturally they had your typical bar food choices, including fried apps. There was a pretty lengthy list of hamburgers and a couple of sandwiches. My coworker ended up with the grilled chicken club with fries and I ordered the burger salad, thinking it would come with lettuce wrapped around the party instead of a bun. We were both pleasantly surprised when our food came out. My coworkers was a decent piece of chicken and came with portobello mushrooms on it(which she said was delicious) and mine was literally a hamburger patty with grilled onions topped with a salad. It was a huge plate and actually quite delicious. I thought it would be weird to add balsamic vinaigrette dressing to it, but it actually added to the flavor. We were both pleased.
