I have given this place at least 3 chances but the tacos of carne asada continue to be full of fat. They need to clean the meat before they grill it. The chicken is good but it’s much better 2 minutes down the road at El Rancho Supermarket. Their fries taste disgusting because they dont change the oil they cook them in. This place could be great if they spent time prepping the food and changing out the oil. Disgusting.

My husband and I have been here three times in the past few years. I can’t say all these restaurants are the same. I’ve only been to this location. We occasionally get a kick for«healthy» grilled chicken, so we ended up giving this place another try and ended up with the same result: Very unfriendly order taker, dirty environment, flies all over the tables, way too loud Spanish television blaring(Don’t get me wrong — I love loud music, but you can barely talk to the person across the table from you at this place!), and most importantly, VERYDRYGRILLEDCHICKENANDTACOS. They pre-wrap the chicken in white paper with a few slices of white onion, which looks tantalizing, but when you bite into it, it’s more like chicken jerky. Really — nearly broke my plastic fork when trying to cut into it. The tacos — My husband has reported all three visits, the beef has been jerky-like and tasted/looked old. The rice was very dry and almost inedible. I am not sure how this place stays in business. The only good things about this place: the green sauce and borracho beans. They are the only way I can eat their chicken — to drown it in the sauce to bring some moisture to the meat. The chicken marinade has potential — Too bad they overcook it and what seems to be days old food. I bought a half chicken special. I ate 2⁄3 of it. I love taking doggy bags home. I threw the other 1⁄3 away. No thanks. Sadly, just can’t eat it. We will never go back.

Who in the heck would expect for a hole in the wall like El Pollo Regio to have an incredible Mole!!! OMG!!! I was in interior Mexico food heaven!!! Chicken was very good, as was everything else(beans, corn tortillas), but the Mole was as good as I have EVER eaten, and Mole is a dish I search out(Mi Cocinas Mole pales in comparison). I also dig the outside seating. Looking forward to satisfying my Mole cravings here again very very soon!!!

Wish it was close by, great to have an authentic place with a drive thru. The Chicken and tacos were ok. They didn’t include limes and were a little slow even though I called ahead but over all not bad.

I was in the neighborhood and thought a number 4(steak taco) would be good. As I pulled up I saw a poster in the window advertising that El Pollo Regio now has tortas. I like a good torta al pastor, so I gave it a try. It was an OK sandwich, not the best I ever had, but OK. The refried beans on the sandwich was a bit weird. Next time I’ll switch back the the number 4. One other interesting observation: Regio now has a salsa bar… So if you want extra of that creamy green sauce, you can sauce to your heart’s content.

Ill keep it short and simple! :) I had the special today and they already had the chicken in a bag wrapped and with beans that were salty and the rice that was dry! I think the only good thing was the onions that I drenched in lime juice and salt! The chicken was tasteless and cold! The salsa was unhot and so many selections but they all tasted the same! Tasteless and unhot! I don’t like it hot but at least a little hot to choke down the dry chicken breast! Overall I didn’t like my experience here and not planning to come back! I much rather go to the gran plaza or Pollo locochon off of seminary!

El Pollo Regio means bad-ass chicken from Monterrey, Mexico. This spot on Riverside has been doing it right for a while. They have locations all around our beautiful city. Their fire roasted whole chicken is served with charro beans, rice, corn tortillas and Jalepeño crema salsa from the Aztec Gods. The pulled chicken tostada is a giant crispy tostada covered in guacamole and pulled chicken topped with Mexican Crema and another tostada. Delicious! Chicken with Mole and Chicken Soup are strong players on the menu. They also do beef; Barbacoa tacos with cilantro and onions and Carne Asada with fresh pico ready to twist up into a savory taco. Wash it all down with real Coca-Cola and your set. The drive thru makes grabbing a chicken easy for your next picnic. The patio is dog friendly which makes it a great stop on the way to the dog park.
