This place took me back to my childhood and Grandma’s house. They had the best breakfast I’ve ever had from a restaurant. And it cost me a LOT less than Ihop. I got a plate of two sausage patties, one scrambled egg, one huge pancake(which was fluffy and delicious), one HUGE buttermilk biscuit and gravy for around $ 8. It was all fresh, warm, tasty and… homey.

Ahhhhh Dixie House, where the toast comes with gravy and there’s more powdered sugar than french toast. Breakfast is definitely where it’s at. The service was excellent – waitresses are not too clingy or distant. Portion sizes are great and the prices are very reasonable. And those BISCUITS, though! Only complaints: the coffee SUCKS and the bacon was chewy and extremely greasy. Definitely will add Dixie House the greasy spoon to our weekend breakfast usuals.

Breakfast was amazing and cheap. Lunch was just ok, except for the amazing desserts. The coconut cream pie is to die for!!! Only suggestion is for them to add an extra tortilla to the breakfast taco. It is too much to roll up and a taco should not be eaten flat with a fork. For two extra tortillas it is $ 2.25 which is ridiculous. The sausage was great. We went two days in arrow. Second day I had chicken fried chicken which was also very good. We had adults and kids and there were no complaints(except no one was a huge fan of the pancakes).

Being from new york I’m used to smaller diners and mom and pop restaurants. figured I’d give this place a shot. The food was terrible. the pancakes tasted awful, abd the eggs were cold. The biscuit was worse then something store bought. If I were the owners i’d stop using whatever recipe I was currently using and get grands instead lol. The cake on the other hand was good. I got a cheesecake that was delicious. If I were to come back, it would strictly be for cake.

I’m not sure what is up with all the bad reviews but I came with my family and we all loved it. It was nice and quaint & all of the servers were friendly. The service was fast and the food is great. I ordered chicken fried steak and it was very good and very tender. I will be returning soon. Oh and the rolls are very good!

If I could give this zero stars I would. This visit was a disaster from the beginning — seated at a dirty table, food wasn’t all brought out, food was barely room temperature, «roasted chicken and dressing» was all skin, bones and grease, beans were cold, cornbread was dry, salad was old. After voicing concerns to the server, she went to get the manager who apparently was too busy to come to our table. When we went to the register to pay, the manage was our cashier, and again was too busy counting up the lunch tickets to check us out. She finally acknowledged us, and when we voiced our concerns again, was full of excuses for all the above. Bad food + bad customer service = we won’t be back anytime soon.

Weak coffee. Paid over $ 2 for that one horrible sip. Cold toast. When I asked for fresh toast, the waitress brought hard toast that seemed to have been nuked for a few seconds to warm it up. Eggs were overdone and the amount of hasbrowns on my plate were certainly not worth the $ 8 I paid for the meal. When we complained at the register, there was no offer to adjust any of the bill. When we said IHOP would have been better the cashier agreed and asked us to bring her back something. I couldn’t believe it… but really I can because it was just that bad.

Ordered a to-go order. They said it would be ready in 10 to 15 mins. I arrived 15 mins later. After waiting for the lady in the front to get done gossiping with another waitress she informed me that my order wasnt ready. Waited another 10 mins. All i ordered was a short stack of pancakes, nothing fancy. The dixie house on lancaster is way better. This one has terrible food and service.

There are several restaurants in Fort Worth that offer excellent home style breakfast – unfortunately Dixie House on Hulen Street ISNOT one of them. Rarely do I walk away from a meal without finishing but I couldn’t eat the grease that saturated every aspect of this meal. We will not return.

I had the Dixie house scramble. It was really good but I had to scarf it down because it was a little warm in the restaurant and I was getting uncomfortable.

One star is overrating. Service was very poor. Nobody would come refill my tea until I had finished my meal. I had to go get condiments(ketchup and jellies) from another table. The had issues getting my wife’s toast done. It finally arrived as we were finishing up. The food was bland, tasteless. My chicken fried steak was like cardboard. When I complained I was told«I’m sorry, that will be $ 25.83». I will not be returning!!!

Ok breakfast place but the prices are too high for the quality of food. Nothing wrong with the food but nothing spectacular either. I felt it was barely above anything I could have made at home. Service was slow with few people eating. Dinner was also so very middle of the road. I know people who love this place but I am just confused if they are talking about the same place as I went.

You ever visit an establishment, check the star rating on Unilocal and notice your jaw drop? That was my experience this weekend when I visited Dixie House Café. After checking in on Saturday morning, I opted to read through some reviews to see what my peers have to say about the place. Needless to say, I was shocked. This place has apparently garnered quite the bad rap here on Unilocal. But I’m here to try and clear up some of that muck now. The Food My fiancé and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs breakfast combo as well as the French Toast breakfast combo. I’ve been searching for quite some time now to find a good Chicken Fried Steak breakfast option. Given I live in Fort Worth, that shouldn’t be a difficult task. But it’s proven to be a greater challenge then expected. I’m very happy to say that this place lived up to my expectations. The Chicken Fried steak was cooked perfectly and the gravy was provided on the side to avoid potential sogginess. The eggs were cooked over easy, as requested. The hash browns were good and not overly greasy, which I appreciated. My fiancé enjoyed her french toast as well. So were pretty happy with the food. The Service We were blown away by what seemed like an effortless, yet flawless team of waiters and waitresses. By the time we were seated, we already had somebody inquiring about drinks. Between then, we had two additional waitresses check on us about our orders and comfort levels. All of the waitresses that visited our table were very nice, upbeat and full of menu suggestions. We took a while to make up our minds but that didn’t bother any of the staff whatsoever. The Setting I’m not sure what I was expecting when I stood outside of the Dixie House Café but it wasn’t what I found when I got inside. While the place does seem to cater more to your older clientele, it was still very refreshing and clean inside. I could actually see them loaning the place out for parties on occasion if they wanted. The Cost I rarely go over the cost at places, as I feel you can get an idea from the Restaurants page. But I see a lot of complaints about the price at Dixie House, so I want to give my two cents. My fiancé and I both enjoyed very filling breakfasts for under $ 24. While that isn’t dirt-cheap, it’s most definitely not over-priced or expensive by any means. Comparing this place to the House of Pancakes or Denny’s is a serious slight that I couldn’t agree with. If $ 12 per dish is too much, you’re likely better off visiting a place like McDonalds for your breakfast. In my tl;dr version, Dixie House Café provides really good home cooking and great customer service for a fair price. We’ll be back.

Plus side: Really nice male host who sat us down and brought us coffee. Down side: I’ve been to tastier(and better priced) breakfast places in FW to give this place 2 stars. Overpriced for what doesn’t seem home made.

the environment= friendly, courteous staff, makes you feel comfortable. …Food so far I have tried most of their stuff and my two favorite are the breakfast Specials two egg. And the burger and fries. Burger was not dry, moist and fries were delicious not hard when you get them. If you like a great breakfast or burger in a family friendly environment this is your place.

Plain Jane, nothing fancy nothing great, except for the cinnamon roll, that is AWESOME. Normal typical breakfast place, however the food is just OK, nothing really stands out and says EATME… except for the cinnamon roll, now that by itself deserves 5 stars, but everything else we had was just blah. Edible, but nothing was great. Service was fine, also not stellar, but even the soda machine was low on syrup and definitely this place needs to improve to stay in business. They have a foundation, but need to improve. If you are hungry you will get fed, but without the cinnamon roll, this place is worth skipping.

Definitely were NOT on their A game today! Geez, it’s been awhile since I’ve been here, when did the prices get so high??? This used to be the cheap, home cooked, go to meal, and now, it ain’t! We walked in to a ½ full place on Sunday at noon(1st clue), and things were chaotic. We got seated pretty quick, the server came to take our order 6 seconds after stiing down, so we asked a for a lil more time. Well boy we got it, 20 minutes later, here comes Ms Thang, swishin like a booty model for 2LiveCrew. She took our order, and she disappears again for 20 minutes. They used to bring your food out real quick, but anyhoo. So I watch our food make its way thu the dining room twice, trying each time to get the servers attention, but to no avail. She went back in the kitchen… So I get up and tell them that’s ours, and they bring it. Kinda cold, and not so fresh. Then the table behind us is looking for their food, and no one there seems to know about their order.(we laughed with them) Lastly, I was looking on the menu, thinking about a hamburger. They have a note saying«fries don’t come with burger», so I glance at the sides, $ 4.20 for an order of fries. What the«H»? I’m all for 420, but not for one order of damn fries. Buh Bye Dixie House:

From the extremely high prices to the NOFREEREFILLS, this place let me down. Walking in, the atmosphere is definitely for people in the 50s+ and the décor is needed in major attention for renovation. There were ads inside the menus, on the cups and almost everywhere you looked. The food was way over priced, and not that good, and they charged for everything. No matter where you looked, it looked like they saw $$$ signs instead of trying to make honest customers. Stay away people, stay very, very far away.

Decent Breakfast at a high price. Both of us had Eggs and we split one Biscuit and canned Gravy. Thirty bucks with the tip for two people. Although Ihop’s can run pretty high also but their food is better than Dixie’s
