I came to Café Modern for a friend’s graduation brunch. The atmosphere is chic with floor to ceiling windows. The restaurant gets packed. Granted, it was Mother’s Day. We had a large group and the waitress didn’t really check our side of the table. I was by the younger kids, so maybe that’s why. The food came out and almost all of us had our food except for one boy. His French toast came out 5 minutes later than everyone elses. I really dislike it when I’m served cold food when it’s supposed to be hot. I ordered Modern Eggs Benedict. However, I was so hungry by the time the food arrived, I didn’t bother to send it back. In addition, the lemony hollandaise sauce was so overpowering that I had to scrape it off my eggs. Definitely a 2 star meal. Then we ordered the lemon lavender cheesecake. That was impressive. Hence, my review of 3 stars. The presentation was just like a modern museum– chic and spotless. The cheesecake was perfectly creamy with a great Graham cracker crust and a hint of tartness from the lemon. I found the bits of lavender in the cheesecake to be very unique and made the cheesecake heighten in flavor. A very impressive dessert. Overall, I would not come back. Prices were high and with the exception of the dessert, the food lacked a good combination of flavors.

We decided to visit the Modern and have brunch at the Modern café. Everybody was nice and very professional! The ambiance is also very nice, personally the best part of the café! After reading some reviews on Unilocal,we decided to start with the Mediterranean salad, followed by the eggs Benedict and the burger. The salad was quite nice, the burger was a little bit to done… Not a medium more like a well done. The eggs one was very good, the other wasn’t cooked enough. Overall is a nice place to come, enjoy the view, and have a drink. Even eat a little something but knowing that the food is not going to be amazing.

We are Sunday brunch here after a long long time! We had our wedding reception here 10yrs ago and I’m happy to report the food is just as good! I had the egg frittata with side of fruit. My only complaint was my frittata was a little dry. Also when serving hot tea, the creamer on the side should not be chilled! Overall the whole family had a good dining experience– great space, lovely view and good food.

Service and food were so disappointing. Just can’t describe it all. After I read the reviews I was so excited to dine there. But we could barely eat our food. It was not cooked properly and cold. Our white wine was hot. Service was terrible.

I spent the afternoon on the patio of Café modern checking out the two or so acres of water that led up to the beautiful art museum building. This is an amazing place. It feels otherworldly in a way. I recommend bringing a bunch of friends here and hanging out on the comfortable couches on the patio and having a great time. They have a very upscale bar. It’s the sort of bar that you miss when you come from a place like California. I can’t wait to go back here.

Not knowing The Modern Café changed chefs, my boyfriend and I came to brunch to our favorite spot. Service was wonderful as usual. A bread basket was brought out, but the beloved berry scones were missing! We inquired and our waiter brought us a couple. They were a little harder than usual, so I am guessing they were left out of the basket because they’ve been sitting out for a while. They were still pretty good though. I order my all time favorite and usual — The Modern Benedict. It comes out and I am thoroughly confused. The presentation wasn’t the same and my normally, delectable looking modern benedict just looked very sad … The potatoes looked like wedges instead of the cute little squares, the poached eggs were tiny and bumpy, the English muffin was so flat, and the ham, which is one of my favorite parts, had very black and prominent grill marks. It tasted burnt as well. This is not the Modern Benedict that I know and love!!! I quickly realized, they might have changed chefs … My boyfriend’s stuffed French toast tasted very good though, so I crossed my fingers and hoped that the chef was just maybe sick or out of town. I did not have the heart to inquire about my plate or chef in person, but I immediately went on to the website and saw that they indeed had switched chefs. I was honestly quite dismayed!!! I miss my modern Benedict and I want the old chef back! My previous review was 5 stars, but now it is a 3. Still a great atmosphere and service, but The Modern Benedict, which is a signature, is now just okay.

I have been to Café Modern several times for cocktails. Always good. Sunday brunch today was excellent in every regard. Service was spot on, eggs Benedict prepared for my wife and I two different ways were as good as it gets. And the ambiance is most enjoyable. You will not be disappointed

Vastly improved. For a few years this place was a no fly zone in my opinion. When it first opened it was really phenomenal, but after a few lineup changes in the kitchen it quickly found itself in an awkward rut. The new chef has really turned things around. The Conch Ceviche was on point as well as everything else I tried. The only item which was a bit dubious was the Panang Curry Poutine, as far as my palate is concerned this just wasn’t the right type of curry to complement crispy Kennebec fries. Texturally the curry was also a touch pasty. Wine prices are reasonable though the selection is limited. The views are quite unusual for a city like Fort Worth, the experience overall makes you feel like you’ve left DFW and ended up somewhere a bit more chic.

I love this place! One of the best kept secrets in Fort Worth! Lunch is usually incredible, and when they cater for in house movie events, it’s usually even better! If you are in the Museum District, you should make time for one of the hidden gems of Fort Worth!

I had gone to an event that the Lone Star Film Society was having at The ARTHOUSEFW The Modern. They had a Perfect Pitch movie sing along and as a Unilocaler, I got in for free plus one free drink of my choice. The Café Modern had 3 special drinks they created for the occasion. I tried 2 of the 3, I did not get to check out the 3rd because, I did have to drive myself and be responsible. Both drinks were good, did not really prefer one over the other. The Bartending staff was really busy but they seemed to have kept up with the crowd. There was no table service, which may be different during regular operating hours. Our event was at night and it was a pretty full place. The noise level was good and the Movie was fun. I enjoyed that the Lone Star Film Society had an organized game and lyric sheet to give to us. The night was interactive and fun. I sat at a table with 5 non-Yelpers and 2 Unilocalers(who are now my Friends, yeah) and I was talking up, promoting the Unilocalness to the others. Shout out to Arin, Laura and Dora, maybe one day we can be friends. As far as food, I have not tried any here yet, but I look forward to coming back and experiencing the whole«lunch» at Café Modern. Thank you Intern Anna, Community Manager Kendall, Lone Start Film Society and the Management at Café Modern who made the night AWESOME!!! (4 stars because I had not tried any food, so cannot judge on quality and food presentation.)

We went to the Café Modern to participate in the very fun Pitch Perfect sing-a-long event hosted by the Lone Star Film Society. The cocktails provided were creative and quite delicious, although I must say the punch was the best one. The lovely bartenders did their best to accomodate cocktail requests, even though you could see they were a bit harried by the large group. I have heard wonderful things about the food at Café Modern, so I’ll be sure to come back and try it out.

I loved my eggs Benedict! They were perfectly poached. The service was also excellent. Price-wise, the restaurant is a bit too high for brunch in FTW where every other establishment serves the same menu options.

Café Modern has become my default lunch spot. I never ever tire of the setting or their menu, and I always leave in a wonderful mood. I could walk in a dark grey cloud and leave a beam of sunlight. For me, a stellar atmosphere and delicious seasonal dishes = definite happiness every time! I like to embrace my leisurely side when I sit down for a meal, especially at Café Modern. You gotta take the time to absorb this exceptional setting. Whether you’re at the patio or inside, you’ll have an incredible view of the Modern’s gorgeous architecture and pavilions that are set into a reflecting pond. Ask for a window seat so you’re right on the water. It’s pretty whimsical! The menu is always fantastic. Every time I visit there’s something new I want to order, and items that can be made gluten-free are clearly noted. Think New American cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients. During my last Café Modern excursion, I ordered the«Diablos» appetizer for $ 8.75, and it was phenomenal. Perfect, bite-sized dried plums stuffed with a wonderful gouda and almonds, all wrapped up in bacon and served with an amazing rosemary syrup. For real, the rosemary syrup was so awesome. Sweet, sticky, and herby. I also ordered the a cup of «Sweet Potato-Ancho Soup» for $ 5.50. It had the perfect amount of deep, building heat balanced with sweetness. It was topped with bacon, a little cheddar cheese, green onions, and a bit of a maple-lime crema to add a cooling component. Seriously drool-worthy cuisine here at Café Modern. Executive Chef Dena Peterson is ultra-talented and does an amazing job at showcasing seasonal ingredients in bright and bold manner — without being overcomplicated. I’m so thankful to have this amazing restaurant inside one of my favorite cultural venues in our community!

Tomato soup was plain. Tabasco jalapeño fried chicken wasn’t even spicy. Only good thing was the small grilled cheese sandwich

Unfortunately I’ve only been here twice, both for Unilocal events, and when the Lonestar Film Society has been hosting a movie. I’m definitely going to make an effort to actually eat an entrée here, next time I’m in town. The appetizers have always been delicious, healthy enough for me to not feel bad, and presented wonderfully. The bartenders and waiters are really cool, and Amanda, that lovely woman remembered me from last time. She’s always on point when she’s pourin’ up those potions. Even when it’s hectic, she keeps it cool. She made me a lovely French 75 on my most recent visit. If you’ve never had one, and like dry-er cocktails, I recommend it. It’s usually pretty bumpin’ when I come here in the evenings. I’ve noticed a lot of older couples frequent here, and have a bottle of wine on their table, for good reason. The bar is stacked with a great selection of wine, as well as local beers. Snaps for Café Modern. I’ll update my review when I come here for dinner :)

This place is definitely visually beautiful, very open air which compliments the view very well. We went on a Saturday for a late lunch. I really wanted to love this place but it was just«A-OK» for me. The décor, service, and overall atmosphere was good, but the most important part: the food… well. it was kind of a miss for me. An assortment of bread was brought out to the table. There was a french bread, honey wheat roll, blueberry scone, regular scone, & cornbread. At first touch all of them were hard as if they were stale… but I persevered and tried them. Believe it or not they all had really good flavor despite the hard bite they all had. Strange. but hey.good flavor is good flavor. My husbands Modern Benedict was the winner at the table with a few minor flaws. The lemon was just that, unexpectedly in your face lemon pucker taste. It hits you by surprise, in a very good way. It’s a great contrast to the smoked ham. Thumbs up to that. The down fall of the dish seemed to be the hash brown casserole? I’m calling it a casserole because it looked like a slop, although had good flavor it didn’t give much in the way of texture. Also it looked displeasing like it had been out and unloved. Nothing a crunchy topping or some fresh parsley over top can’t fix… and at such a small feat you might as well go that extra step. My dish was the Moroccan Chicken Salad. When Salad is 75% of the dish you expect that salad to be fresh and have crunch. It’s a very small thing to ask for. The romaine lettuce looked and tasted like it had been dressed that morning and served to me. The dressing didn’t have any taste except oil. The pita croutons were in long dense strips which made it ridiculous to eat in a salad. I had to pick them up with my fingers to eat them and that was the less awkward option. The chicken itself was crusted in nuts with a hint of pleasant curry flavor. The chicken portion was a large breast sort of pre-cut in larger pieces. It was difficult to eat. There was lots of feta and slivered red bell pepper strips lazily tossed on top. Seriously $ 15 for this? It seemed that this place had a bunch of little misses, which is fine to have misses but at some point they just kind of add up.

Classy, without being pretentious, effortlessly sophisticated, extremely aesthetically pleasing, endlessly accommodating… no, no, not me, I’m talking about Café Modern! The wife and I mistakenly stumbled into the Modern Art Museum(and crashed an interpretive dance troop’s performance… whoops) and found this gem by mistake. It’s located inside the Museum, with a panoramic view of several large scale outdoor art pieces. The atmosphere is a little staid, but comfortable. We happened to stumble in on the tail end of Saturday brunch, and we both left surprised. My modern benedict was perfectly cooked, with the lemon hollandaise providing a pleasant counterpoint in a typically savory dish. The wife was… less pleased… with her Moroccan Chicken Salad. She felt as if the greenery had been dressed several hours beforehand, and was«extremely wilty.» I thought it tasted alright, but I have the palette of a Dalmatian. The service was impeccable, and if nothing else, the view alone is worth the $ 30 price tag. Café Modern seems to be a very versatile spot, you could easily do a business lunch\date night\brunch here.

My number one Fort Worth hideout. If you’re like me and don’t get out to Cow Town too often, you might be wondering where to go for lunch. Stop right there. Two words: CAFE. MODERN. My boyfriend was hunting down a solid meal in a beautiful setting and Unilocal led him here. Café Modern is a winner on all fronts. It scored major bonus points for being affordable on top of its aesthetics. It’s an eatery situated on about an inch of water inside Fort Worth’s Art Museum which rivals the ever so popular DMA. There’s no bad seat in the house, as nearly the entire wall is covered with glass windows overlooking a breathtaking landscape. And the food? Phenomenal. $ 15 scored me tender, soft salmon and a fresh spring mix salad topped with colorful fixings and goat cheese(my favorite). I really love this place. It’s got culture, quality, ambiance, style and pretty much everything you could want. A super solid choice for a meal if you’re in the area.

We visited Café Modern for the Latest CMYE which was a screening of Big Trouble in Little China by the lone star film society(which was awesome BTW). Anyways, ive been to the Modern a number of times but the Café Modern has always been on my list to try. When we arrived we found a place to sit(nice comfy chairs BTW). Since this was a CMYE event Café Modern graciously provided some samples for us to try in addition to a nice happy hour menu to order off of. I absolutely fell in love with the seared Tuna which was perfectly seared and garnished. the cucumber salad on top was absolutely wonderful and the flavor was nicely balanced. Their artichoke arancini was also to die for and would gladly order an order all to myself and refuse to share. The combination of risotto, artichoke hearts, and Parmesan fried into delightful bite sized balls were so amazingly good. After a while my husband and I opted to share an order of their Malaysian style fried chicken. I hate to say anything slightly negative about this meal but although the chicken was nicely fried and had a light crispy crust, it didn’t really have much flavor unless you paired it with the dollop of chili sauce. The chili sauce worked for me but not my husband. I enjoyed balancing the heat of the sauce with the pickled daikon but my husband wasn’t a fan. The rice however was pretty dry so we left that alone. overall the meal was presented beautifully, it just didnt have much in terms of flavor. Since i had looked up their menu online earlier that day i knew they offered a vietnamese coffee affogato with coconut shortbread. To me, shortbread is such a simple cookie that is under appreciated, but to add coconut the mix sounded so good i couldnt resist. That and a vietnamese coffee dessert. Anyways, our server brought out a dish with the espresso cup of coffee and a bowl of vanilla ice cream. He then poured the coffee onto the ice cream and I dug in. OMG, if you love coffee this dessert was amazing. It was sweet, but also had a strong coffee flavor at times. I cant begin to describe how much I enjoyed that dessert. I could swear they made their ice cream in house because the melted ice cream had such a thick texture that was divine. The shortbread was a nice but unnecessary addition. it was tasty and had a bit of chew to it with the coconut. The staff was excellent and the experience was wonderful. I’d definitely come back and enjoy this place again.
