Buffalo West

My husband and I went here with a Groupon. We will not be back. Service was decent, but the food was terrible. The salad bar looks like a case of food poisoning waiting to happen. My husband ordered a side of onion rings in addition to his entrée, and what he got was a plate of four cold, soggy onion rings. I had a veggie sandwich, on bread that was too tough to bite through. This place earns two stars (instead of zero) because our server was OK, and because the interior of full of outdated-​Steak-​and-​Ale kitsch.

The only thing earning the stars here would be the service. Our server was also the bartender and he did a fantastic job but everything else pretty much sucked. The location looks like it could have a fun and young experience but the music inside was boring elevator music and it wasn’t doing this place any favors. Next, the food. Summed up in one word… BLAND. I had soup from the salad bar and it was watered down and bland. The ranch dressing for my salad was runny as if they even watered that down. I had the fish tacos and there was absolutely no flavor to the tilapia and the corn tortillas were stale. The beer was cold and the bartender was very attentive so if you do feel like checking this place out then I would sit at the bar.

This place is a must return it is a little pricey but the salad bar was fresh and good the pot roast was amazing, the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken were awesome and the bread pudding was scrumcious!

I liked it. I had the pot roast lunch special for 11 bucks. it was okay, not outstanding. salad and soup bar were great. I liked the service, interior and bathroom. would go for a different entrée next time. good deal for the.price.

This restaurant is very good with very good service. Rod, our server, was excellent. The only negative is the asparagus was just ok. Steak was excellent. Our group had ribeyes and prime rib. All were great.
They brought us a complimentary chocolate waffle with ice cream and whipped cream. Very good!

Came to this place after finding the ad for it in the paper. Food is really good. They have a great selection. The prices however are WAY too high! It’s a wonder people rave about the place so much. Yes, they have very great food but you have to take a loan out at the bank to eat here. I probably won’t come back due to the prices, but if you have money to just throw away, feel free to stop by and enjoy some good food. Service was great and server was nice.
Update — 7:00am — This is the only thing I had to eat yesterday and throughout the night. I went to work in the evening about 7 hours later after eating at this establishment. I then became very ill and had diarrhea all night long. More than likely it was from here since normally something you eat bad takes 8 hours to make you sick.
I had a chicken fried chicken and the salad bar. Everything looked clean and sanitary so not sure yet what caused it. Salad bar I had some bow tie pasta with ham, cheese, egg, bacon and ranch on my salad.
Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow… Now I have 2 reasons not to go back. And after reading some of the reviews on here, it appears there are a few that have gotten sick. On post the owner replied and it seemed to be a smart ass with his response. Oh well, I won’t be back.

I go here almost every week. Their food is always Great. Their service is wonderful. I went through and read all the negative reviews. They must be talking about another restaurant because this place is great. To the person that was put off by the buffalo head in the entry way, Duh, The restaurant is called the Buffalo West.

Great salad bar deal for lunch. Kale sausage soup is great. Nice waiter too. Can’t wait to go back for their prime rib deal for 20 bucks.

Came here for my wedding anniversary and had a very pleasant experience. My wife and I ordered the ribeye steak and the lobster which were both amazing. The music was great the service was excellent even though they were a little spread thin. I will definitely visit here again and would highly recommend it to others.

This place is amazing! Food is great and Rod and Erica are absolutely two of the greatest people that make us feel like old friends! We come here every week at least once a week!

Sylvia is a BOSS! First time here, came for a happy hour after work with the coherts and she was awesome. Very approachable, friendly personality. We only shared appetizers, so I don’t know how the entrees are, but the apps are great. Five of us on one platter proved to be too small of a portion, but I think we ended up all of the other apps.
Let’s hope they extend my hotel so I can come back one more time.

Great brunch! Some friends of ours had a Groupon and wanted to have brunch here. I read the reviews and was skeptical.
Took my chances and was glad I did! I got the Eggs Benedict and it was perfect! The eggs were cooked perfectly– my only «complaint» would be more hollandaise sauce please!
People I was with got steak & Eggs Benedict — once again eggs cooked perfect and the steak was cooked as ordered and REALLY good! Good size and seasoned well. The omelette was huge-​you go up to a chef who takes your order and then it is brought to you in about 5 – 10 minutes. Was told the salsa was really good. As well as the omelette!
When you order one of the speciality brunch dishes you get toast, choice of bacon or sausage, fruit and breakfast potatoes.
Lots of food for the $$. Really good meal and I will be going back.
Haven’t gotten sick either

I’ve been back since my last review and I have to say, I REALLY WANT to like this place. This time I didn’t know what to get and settled for a Monte Christo. Alright going good, salad bar is fine as usual and I enjoy it (Sausage and Kale soup is godly). Food comes out and my and my companion are thoroughly disappointed. I’m not sure where Buffalo West gets their meat but it’s not the best. The Monte Christo is decent at best, a ⁵⁄₁₀. Good enough for anyone hungry. My companions meal on the other hand is a whole different story. Prime Rib Sandwich and its a solid ²⁄₁₀. Long story short it made us both very sick and we are done coming back.

Before we even get to the food, BE warned they charge $ 10 to split/​share a meal. We could not believe it! Lucky for the them we had a groupon or we would have left right then and there! Terrible! The food was bland. The steak was charred on one side and barely seared on the other. The salad bar was the best part. I had the lobster bisque and it too was bland. The service was attentive. The bar seemed to be the busiest part of the restaurant. So let’s just say it is a bar that serves food. Save your money and go over to the Golden Corral next store, the food will be better!

I had a delicious lunch (Chicken Salad) at Buffalo West on Wednesday. I really enjoy the variety of the lunch specials that are offered. The staff was friendly and the service was timely.
The soup & salad bar was well stocked and tidy. Really a great variety of options. The Sausage Kale soup is delicious!

DONT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SICK!
First, I should have left when both tables near us were sending food back and complaining. One table even warned us they were «off there game today» I want to love this place, but it continues to fail me. I had said 2 times I won’t come back, and this is my 3^rd and final time. We will not be going back.
2^nd-​The manager was «mingling» at the bar with fellow employees talking very unprofessionally about patrons and the owners struggles and bad decisions they have made. Even discussing how a patron of the restaurant had no bra on. This place will not be successful with this type of management. Every employee was joking and goofing off at the bar while 3 tables in my area were all very unhappy. (And we were the only 3 tables in the whole place) One employee stating she only like working when Lockheed people are at the bar cause she gets 100.00 tips and it’s the only thing keeping her there. It was very ugh out of control!
3– Quality of the food is very poor!!! For the price you pay we should have at least decent quality food. Golden Corral next door is better then this place. I had frozen uncooked French fries mixed in with my cooked fries. The Prime Rib sandwich was gross, old roast beef sandwich meat that was crisped on the flat top. This was the WORST Prime Rib sandwich ever!
Lastly– I don’t know what is on that salad bar that is not being handled property (I believe it’s the Pasta Salad or Sausage & Kale soup. cause I eat very little of the salad bar. However it has made me sick for the 2^nd time now! I will be reporting this visit to the health department! Each of us that had food on the salad bar were sick within an hour. One of our group even throwing up at a local store… and it was the soup. This place needs to be closed down, cleaned and the staff needs better food handling training!!!

Food is horrible and the service is worse. The food reminds of the food that your sister had you try as a kid, as she was learning to cook. I do not think that anything is home made there. I could get a closer to a made from scratch meal at Furr’s Cafeteria. There are far better places on the west side to get some real home cooked type meal than this place. I tried them twice to give them the benefit of the doubt. Both time I was disappointed. I recommend you go elsewhere to spend your dining bucks.

I’m now attending weekly Toastmasters meetings at the restaruant and I’m very impressed with the food and the service. So far, for the past two weeks, I’ve only had the soup and salad bar combination. It’s an incredible value especially since it also come with either a loaded baked or sweet potato.
The salad bar has a nice selection of items on it. There are three types of greens and five or six dressings. A nice touch are the very cold, frozen, plates that are stored in a chest type freezer. It’s wondrful to have a very cold plate to keep the greens crisp.
Each of the two times Ive dined at the restaruant the salad bar area eatures three different soups. So far I’ve tried the chicken noodle and the french onion. YUMMY! Both of the soups were hearty and delicious.
I know in the coming weeks I’m going to «branch out» and trying some of the different menu items. On my most recent visit I missed ot on the daily special, lobster ravoli, since I ordered the salad bar combinaiton too fast. I’ve learned my lesson to be sure to ask the server about the daily specals from now on. Kim, our regular server, is learning what each of us like and taking very good care of our group.

Okay first off, this used to be a Steak and Ale restaurant. Just look around inside (or just look at some of the pictures posted here) and compare it to old steak and ale pictures on google.
Anyways, I came here once and ordered onion rings I believe. Took about 30 minutes to receive our onion rings and they weren’t amazing.

The food was horrible. Very cafeteria like. The kind of place that you assume everything probably was frozen or came from a box. The server never checked on us.
The only perks: the bread pudding was PHENOMENAL! I will go back for JUST that! Also– they had a love band. Probably a good place for a drink and dessert! Nice patio.
