After bar hopping around the Stockyards, I have to say this was my favorite bar. Yes, the drinks are ridiculously cheap here and happy hour goes until 8 pm even on a Saturday night. Walking into this place makes it feel like a well kept secret, its hidden at the bottom of some stairs. It really does feel like you are in someone’s basement. They had a live band playing and they weren’t so loud so you could still have a conversation with the people next to you. The band that was there this night had a guy playing the washboard which is pretty different for the friends we brought visiting from New Jersey. We met quite a few people in this dark bar, everyone was willing to strike up a conversation. Good times here!

Omg I came to this bar because I seen a post written by beautiful Cassie inviting people out to this bar. I hadn’t heard of it until Cassie and upon arrival I was welcomed by Cassie who so likable and attentive to my order. I ordered an exotic drink that most bartenders hadn’t ever heard of and she promptly made it for me to my surprise. I spent several hours in here till the end of shift because I genuinely enjoyed the bar and the«hot» service. I wish every bar I visited had a Cassie in it.

Every time we come to ft worth this is the spot we come to. Great atmosphere and great drinks. Although one of the bartenders(the one with the big boobs) was drunk and demanded that we give her a tip and after that she did not want to serve is the rest of the night. Still a great place but I think management needs to get the bartenders acts together.

Sooo many people shoved in to one tiny underground space. I’m not even sure if it’s legal? You have to dodge drunk people holding their lit cigarettes out on your way to the bathroom. On the bright side though. cheap drinks, okay music and they don’t check id very often. ;)

Very chill Texas cowboy country bar. I like the prices and the music. When you think of Texas this is the kind of hole in the wall bar you want to check out!

This is people watching at it’s best. Saturday afternoon, front and back door open, good friend behind the bar. What more could you want? Cheap drinks — they have them. Tipsy people navigating the freaky steps in front? yep. I can see where I would get claustrophobic if it was packed and the doors were closed. There’s a selfy picture screen that a gaggle of women were making squealing and laughing about. I couldn’t get to it to check it out though. Seriously a Fun place.

I like to hit this bar up with a crowd of friends, and dance the night away. You can totally get away with being underage and coming in here if you show up before 11pm. Get here right before 10pm though, it’s usually when the place is still semi-empty and you can get a good table in the center room. The DJ’s at this place always play the best music, and offer some pretty eclectic song choices on any given night. The people that come here are my favorite, there’s everything you can think of. You can always count on an interesting character taking over the dance floor and getting the party started. Bartenders are friendly, prices on drinks are reasonable. I really enjoy this bar everytime.

I REALLYREALLY love this place! It’s a total hole in the wall with a real divey atmosphere– which I take as a PLUS. :) The service rocks– Lauren is the BESTBARTENDEREVER!!! Seriously, she is NOT my BFF but it took like 2 visits for her to learn our names and drinks of choice– love that! The drinks are poured out liberally– I have 2 – 3 and am good for the night. The music is a great mix of new school hip hop, old school hip hop, country and the OCCASSIONAL Tejano song… like once in a blue moon occasional. The prices cannot be beat. The bathroom are small but clean. The crowd is a very eclectic mix– half your«typical» stockyards crowd, half«locals» from North Side Fort Worth. I have been there at least 30 times in the past 18 months and only once was there a fight– which was broken up very quickly. And it was dudes so I’m preeeeeetty sure it was alcohol and testosterone fueled. Possibly about a sports team allegiance or maybe about their respective stances on evolution versus creationism. The only drawback for me(and it’s a pretty big one for me) is that it’s smoking. And because there is little to no ventilation(it is actually in a basement) it can be very overwhelming. If you’ve been drinking enough– and let’s be honest, with their prices, I usually am!- you won’t mind it so much. But the next day, your closet will reek from where you dropped your clothes in a messy pile on your way to your bed to pass out. But as long as you have a washer and dryer in house– which I do(humble brag) — then you will be all good once you run it all through the washer.

Quintessential underground lounge. Dim lighting, chandeliers, cool sign, good seating/floor space, red booth couches line the walls. Drapey curtains around the stage. Came by on a Wednesday night but we were also here for major bands with major crowds, so I am not sure if it is always this rocking. Loved the atmosphere but not the smoke.

I loved everything about the Basement Bar! It is actually a pretty big place, which you don’t really realize from the sidewalk. RIDICULOUS specials-best prices in the Stockyards area. We had a great bartender that kept our drinks full-she was so quick that I thought the full beer in front of me was still my empty bottle! We stopped in during the day but we would’ve loved to stay all night!

I’m not usually a patron of the Stockyards in Fort Worth so I was skeptical when my friends told me to meet them. Turns out, it was a pretty cool bar filled with all walks of life. Really, from biker guy, to sorority girl, to cowboys… all are welcomed here. Apparently there are burlesque shows(I came a few minutes late and missed it), and when I got to the bar there was a pretty good selection of music to dance to. Honestly I’d probably go there more if it wasn’t so smoky. I think of all bars I’ve gone to in the Stockyards, this one is the least«country». I also dig that it’s really in a basement. Cheap drinks, always a win.

We quite literally stumbled into this place walking around the Stockyards after the rodeo… we wanted to stop into a bar but didn’t have any place in mind and then TADOW there was Basement Bar was right there, beneath our feet. The people we were with were going to stand around outside to finish their cigarettes but then the people at the door were like«you can smoke in here!» and so that was convenient. And there was no cover, we saw 2 or 3 pretty cool bands play, we were able to bring food in from the Love Shack. It was pretty great! We were there with a French guy on his first trip to the U.S. and he was like«this is what I pictured all of Texas would be like!»

My husband and I have been there a couple of times in the past few months. It is a pretty casual place and you’ve got to love the $ 2 drinks for happy hour from 3 – 8! We’ve been once on a Saturday night where we found the place somewhat full with music and dancing going on. Great fun! The other was on a Sunday afternoon where we found that it was much less crowded, watched a football game and still enjoyed ourselves. The service is good and besides the smokey stuff that’s already been commented on(of course the less crowded time you go, the less smoke there is), it’s a great little place. :)

Whoa: folks are not kidding about this place being smoky — they’re almost cavalier about it, in fact. Basement Bar is at least to some extent, exactly what the name implies, a subterranean watering hole featuring a lengthy bar, the requisite number of tables, and a stage at the back where, presumably, singer-songwriters ply their trade. Some of the other reviewers mentioned burlesque, but on the night I stopped by, all I saw was a couple of guys onstage with a few miles of gravel road and a pair of guitars between em. This is, as I could come to discover, a bit of a musician’s bar, and not in the sense that music is being played here: you can find that lots of places. It’s a spot where musicians come to hear each other play, to talk up the good old days, and to soak in the night. They’ll also no doubt have to soak in some of the smog around ‘em, too, but for now, that goes with territory.
