I’m shocked that they’re closed since I just had dinner here a couple of weeks ago, and thought their food was pretty good! The space was gigantic though, so the rent probably wasn’t cheap. I’m glad I got a chance to try their cornbread, since that was my favorite dish, and I would be happy just eating that for my meal. I came with a bunch of coworkers, so got to try a lot of different dishes: –Oysters on the Half Shell(1 dozen, $ 32): Fresh oysters, but on the pricey side. –Chorizo Scotch Eggs(Oil-Cured Chiles, Cilantro, $ 12): Just ok for me– the chorizo made it too salty. –Lamb Tartare(Smoked Egg Purée, Mustard Vinaigrette, Grilled Baguette, $ 13): I was surprised I really liked this– the lamb wasn’t gamey at all when it first came out since it was chilled. Make sure you eat this quickly before it starts getting to room temperature. –Baby Kales Salad(Avocado, Almonds, Orange, Cotija, Sherry Vinaigrette, $ 8): Pretty good but nothing special. –Fried Pasture Chicken(Cream Pepper Biscuit, Jalapeño Vinegar, Apple Butter, $ 22, ): They give you a gigantic portion, and I barely made a dent in it. The fried chicken was delicious though– the exterior was super crunchy and the interior was super tender, since they soak the chicken in buttermilk. The biscuit was just ok though. –Braised Beef Cheek(Rye Spatzle, Fennel Kraut, Spiced Crème Fraîche, $ 26): I loved the beef cheek, which was super tender and flavorful. However, they give you way too much spatzle, which was too doughy, and the kraut too vinegary. –Wood-Grilled Butcher’s Cut Steak(Malt Vinegar Chimichurri, Hand-Cut Fries, MKT): Good steak but nothing special. –Green Chile Cornbread(Sorghum Butter, $ 6, ): THEBESTPARTOFTHEMEAL(next to the fried chicken). I loved that they serve these in baby square cast iron pans since it gives the cornbread more crust. This had the perfect sweet to savory ratio, and I loved that the cornbread was fluffy but still a tiny bit chewy. Although I liked most of the appetizers/entrees I had, I wasn’t a big fan of their desserts: –Coffee Toffee Apple Pudding(Mexican Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Candied Pecans, $ 8): Just ok. –Lemon Buttermilk Pie(Huckleberry Compote, Fresh Citrus, $ 7): This was my favorite out of all the desserts, but I still wouldn’t order this again. –Chocolate Custard(Whipped Cream, Hazelnut Cookie, $ 7): Just ok. –Housemade Ice Cream Trio(Vanilla, Horchata, Peach Sorbet, $ 8): Very creamy, but on the sweet side so I wouldn’t order them again. –Brown Butter Cake: I thought I would really enjoy this, but it was just alright. I couldn’t really taste the brown butter. Our server was friendly and helpful, but the food took a while to arrive. In any case, I’m still sad they are now closed, but glad I got to experience the cornbread!

I took my parents to this restaurant this weekend and we had a bit of a mixed experience. Pros: Amazing cocktails. I had the«Stalkyard»(I appreciate this pun), which was celery and cucumber infused gin, basil, lime juice, tonic, and fennel bitters. Parents had the«24 Karat,» which was rum, carrot juice, lemon, ginger, orgeat, and oregano. Really unique and had a great ginger flavor. All of the food and beverages are made with local ingredients. The restaurant is beautiful and the bar was obviously well attended. Food-wise: The scotch eggs, crispy cauliflower, fried pasture chicken(apple butter, biscuits, and jalapeño vinegar included) Cons: A little pricey for some of the more basic dishes. Duck pot pie — tasteless filling and the greens on the side were exceptionally bland. Needed some spice or flavor throughout. Wood-grilled prime sirloin — came out cold, asked for it to be heated up and it came out just as cold but with that«grey» look that meant they most likely put it under the warmer or microwave. Not worth $ 28 at all! All in all, I would try it again but I left with a «meh» feeling about the experience.

Incredible food, and great staff! The Local Farm to Table concept is heartwarming, and the food is outstanding. Visiting from out of town, we had Sunday brunch — and because of the high Unilocal ratings, I was confident it was going to be good. But WOW, perhaps the best meal I’ve had in a very-long time! We had: Chorizo Scotch Eggs, Seasonal Soup(cream corn, with a lime zest), and Steak(wood grilled, butchers cut) and Eggs. I highly(x10) recommend the Ft. Worth American Food and Beverage … It will be paradise for your taste buds!

Do yourself a favor and get their burger. It’s one of the best I’ve had in FW. Their fried chicken is also great as well. It was perfectly fried with a hint of tang from the vinegar marinade which cut through the richness of the dredge. Saved the best for last. If there’s one thing you must try there, it’s the scotch eggs. Perfectly soft boiled, wrapped with a genorous amount of chorizo, crispy panko on the outside and deep fried to a golden brown. They garnish them with some pickled peppers that go great with the eggs. Seriously, if they’re out when you go, go back the next day just for the scotch eggs.

Great for dinner – not as impressive for brunch. The brunch is more bc none of us liked the menu selections though, not bc anything was wrong with it. I’ve always had great service and food here. I also appreciate their wine selection is completely reasonable. They have a nice twist on menu items without going to far. The environment is also great. The only thing I haven’t enjoyed much is dessert, but the might be a good thing!

Thank you for the opportunity to give you a second chance! We had the Sunday Supper! Our server Allen is an amazing server! He was very attentive and detail oriented and very pleasant! I had the Cherry Cherry Coupe and oh man yummo! My husband had the meatloaf and I had the fried chicken. I didn’t care for the greens but man those grits and that smokey tomato sauce on the meatloaf. Excellent food, excellent service, what more is there to say! Thank you and give Allen a raise.

Very nice atmosphere and wonderful servers that are quick to suggest the best food and drink in the house. I came for brunch and had the fried shrimp boudin balls and gulf crab and smoked fish dip. The boudin balls were nicely breaded and complimented well with the sauce. The crab and fish dip was too salty and very creamy. Though, it did contain a good amount of real crab, which was pleasing. I ordered the shrimp cobb salad. It was a simple romaine, cherry tomatoes, blue cheese, and shrimp salad. The shrimp were again, too salty for my taste. Tip: Order dressing on the side, they were a little too generous when pouring it on. The ambiance and service were definite pros, but I took off stars because the food was very salty and buttery, and the price was twice the amount I would have expected for the quality of food, especially for brunch.

Atmosphere: Really chill, easy going atmosphere. Clean and modern. Good classic rock music playing, not too loud. Just enough to jam to! Food: We ordered some appetizers because we came in a little hangry. :P We got a blueberry muffin and a scone which came with jam and butter. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the muffin but the scone was delicious. I ordered the steak and eggs and the wife ordered the smoke brisket hash. OMG. I’m going to have to change the way I review just because of this place. The steak and eggs were glorious! The steak, I ordered medium rare and it came our perfect, with my egg over easy right in top. When I bit into the steak and eggs I almost came… sorry…that’s just how it is. Lol. Drinks: 24 karat was recommended to me when I tried to order a mimosa and I went ahead and tried it. I don’t regret a thing! This drink was amazing! I couldn’t be happier. I also tried the chery chery coupe which was also amazing! I never thought that I would enjoy a drink with egg in it. However it made it nice and creamy. Service: Sur was our waiter and let me just brag a little about this guy! We let him know it was our first time here and he was very informative. He let us know about the menu and recommend a few things that I went with. Like the steak and eggs… mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm. The way he treated us was how I feel like you should be treated as a guest in a restraunt. Polite, funny, kind… he was a great server. Prices: I guess I can say, you get what you pay for. The place was pretty expensive, the cocktails being half of the $ 100 bill(including tip).

AF+B is a cute little cozy restaurant. You walk in and see the bar in the middle of the seating area. It’s a lot bigger than what it looks. Behind the bar is more seating! We had brunch at AF+B last weekend. We started off with the gulf crab smoked fish dip. Light and tasty with fresh crab meat! My husband had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy deserves 10 stars on their own. I had the smoked brisket hash. A fried egg came on top of potatoes and the brisket. It was really tasty. My kids had the french toast. The kiddos weren’t a fan of the french toast, so mama and dad ending up eating most of it. If you take your offspring here, just know they don’t have a kid’s menu. Some places will give you the entrees half price for the kids. AF+B does not. It’s fine, I didn’t expect it. Yes, Unilocal tells you that it’s not kid friendly. Majority of Unilocalers are single and kid less so what kid friendly is to them can be different for a parent. What you gonna do when you get tired of eating at the same restaurants or don’t have a babysitter? Find out for yourself if it’s kid friendly, of course. It’s not like you are taking them to Rick’s Cabaret. If I listen to Unilocal on the kid friendly advice, I would pass up too many good restaurants. /endofkidfriendlyrant I will return would love to try dinner. DATENIGHT! Hopefully without the kiddos next time.

This place is just the best. Best burger, best service, best cocktails. If you like a gourmet, well balanced, perfectly executed, and made with high quality ingredients burger… COMEHITHER! No soggy bun, no cheap, overworked patty, no foo foo hipster service, no bullshit. And the biggest surprise is their fries… the brine them, flash fry, then bake them. These are the best fries I’ve ever tasted. I hope it doesnt change, because I will continue to go for a long time. I drove from Houston straight here yesterday because it’s that good. OK bye.

Like another reviewer, I’d really like to give his only 2 ½ stars. But, that’s not an option. For their price-point, the service here is not worth what you pay. But, the food is interesting and deserved of the pricing. I will take a moment to point out two things. I dined by myself, and that seemed to flummox the entire staff. That’s unfortunate — I don’t think anyone needs to feel like they’re making other people uncomfortable, especially if the reason is simply having dinner by yourself. Point two — I am vegetarian. I had looked at the menu of this place ahead of time and new that there would be many things that are the house specialties that I would not be able to eat. Fine — I am absolutely fine with that. BUT, as a side note, there were a few dishes on there — here, I’m thinking of the sauteed greens, I think — where the meat component was not included on the menu. So, you think«Great, I’ll have a side of greens, too.» But then they come out sauteed in animal fat, with bacon sprinkled on top. I don’t think it’s too much to ask that this be indicated on the menu.

Loved this spot and I can’t wait to return. Everything on the menu looks good. My fish(not dorado but tuna instead) was so fabulous that I would order it again and again if I did not want to try some of their other creative offerings. My only disappointment was the cocktail special but it is easy to fix that — so many choices, so little time to get to them all. The restaurant is located in a trendy area of Fort Worth but the valet parking outside made it very easy to dine here. Service couldn’t have been better. We will be back.

With senior parents who grin at and drool over standard chain dining and who have little patience when hungry, I victoriously bargained out American Food and Beverage based on the proximity to our parking space and it’s modern gastropub façade in the trendy blocks of Fort Worths«7th street» dining. A perhaps serendipitous compromise of predictability and clean new for them with enough European style and lightly trendy menu items for me. A food forward Bennigan’s, say. Sparkling or still water is offered complimentary at the table from carafes. Our waitress Pam was Texas friendly and efficient with a forever dimpled smile. AF+B’s in fact generic crowd pleasing details I found almost annoyingly perfect. Banality never felt so good — with a noon time manageable menu full of sandwiches, salads like roasted beets, small plates like duck pie, shrimp boudin balls, housemade ricotta with sumac, a scotch egg and entrees like grouper, all reasonably priced. The 1920’s bar setting is updated with large booths and the front wall is all windows. We chose the crab dip with housemade crackers as an appetizer and all had burgers with roasted brussel sprouts for mains. The crab dip was fresh lump crab had a spin with with lemon and marscapone and came with a breaded crust. It was light and really tasty. My medium rare burger seemed mushy but was satisfying. The Brussel sprouts, firm from roasting and lightly charred had a delicious truffle butter. Expect to bust your diet here. Lunch for 3 with wine and appetizer — $ 85 before tip. It’s suburban sceney as chill as kind Fort Worthers amped two shades up from vanilla.

You’ve gotta try their Cobb salad — pickled celery is a thing, and it is a good thing. Plus I now know the holy grail of country ham. Like little Benton’s diamonds in the roughage, lol. Their beef tartare is really something special as well, but I always feel like I need just ONE more crostini!

Give this place a try! The quality of the food definitely matches their prices. You will not be disappointed. Their menu has a variety of items that are different than most restaurants. For example, their duck pot pie and beef tartare are amazing. Their ketchup is specially made and their burgers have grass-fed beef. The place gives me a relaxed yet upscale vibe. Service is always great– attentive and friendly. Food comes out in a reasonable time and they have a wide range of wines and cocktails.

Yummy! Found this place on Unilocal while passing through the area and it was worth it. Came for lunch and there was a nice lunch crowd of business folk. Service was prompt and friendly. One odd thing was that they don’t have sugar for iced tea. Instead, they have a liquid sugar that they bring. It really sweetens up the tea, even with just a few drops. They menu is very reasonably priced, especially for this area of town. In addition to the menu, which has a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees, there are daily specials. The sandwiches come with a choice of salad or homemade fries. I ordered the lamb sandwich on ciabatta and my boss ordered the turkey with cranberry sauce. I got the salad and he got the fries. The food came quickly and was delicious! My salad came with a light olive and vinegar on it and it was perfect. My bosses fries came in a large cup and there were more than he could eat. The portion was perfect, almost by not quit too much for lunch. With an iced tea, my meal was $ 17. On a side note, this place has matches, which you don’t find much anymore. I grabbed a couple of boxes for my match collection. Parking is prime, but we parked in the garage across the street and our server validated it. I would definitely go back to this place again.

This is a review of my experience at the bar ONLY. I tried two of AF+B’s signature cocktails. First, the«Fall in the French Quarter.» It was a bold, perfectly chilled, and perfect for slowly sipping away. I was going to try the local Martin House Brewery’s seasonal ale(I think it was a barley wine??) but the knowledgeable(and quite entertaining) bartender talked me out of it. He whipped up a Jack Rose for me instead, and I was not disappointed. Crisp and refreshing like a Granny Smith apple. Couldn’t tell there was a liquor in this drink at all, so buyer beware! My husband usually sticks to TX& coke, but the bartender was able to convince him to step out of his comfort zone and try the American Gothic. A fresh twist on an old classic, for sure. My husband had two. The menu looked very appetizing. We will definitely be back to give it a try… If AF+B puts half as much care into their food as they do their cocktails, we won’t be disappointed!

This place is pretty modern rustic like neighborhood services in Dallas. It’s brighter and cleaner in design, though, so slightly different atmosphere. Every time I’ve been, service has been superb and staff is dressed in a cute hipster way. I’ve always gotten the barley salad and it has treated me right! The beet hummus is yummy but there’s really too little of a portion for my satisfaction. And let me tell you, this place had the best gnocchi I’ve ever tasted(and I’ve been all around the world –even in Italy– tasting gnocchi)! Unfortunately, they don’t have it anymore. I didn’t even order it the first time! My friend got it and we shared it and it was PHENOMNOMNOMENAL. Yup. Worthy of that saying. The crowd is typical Fort Worth. A little bit older with a mix of some young professionals. I like this place a lot, but don’t frequent it because I don’t work close around here! Try it, though! I’m sure you’ll be pleased.

Great addition to Ft Worth’s dining scene. Living in a amazing food city I was always a little bored with the restaurant selection in Ft Worth. BBQ& cowboy cuisine sure that’s a go here but great farm to table non chain restaurants have always been lacking. I’m glad to see that the movement has taken hold. I stopped in for lunch with my mom and we both got the duck pot pie and green chile cornbread. The pot pie was balls to the wall delicious. I loved that they put spinach in it. Order it now and you can thank me later.

I haven’t been amazed by a restaurant in quite some time. Turns out a long trip to Fort Worth was what I needed! Far away from the typical«Dallasite» establishments, untouched by pretentiousness and embracing true hospitality, AF+B has emerged to provide excellent quality dishes without being uppity. The parking situation was new to me at the West 7th shopping center. No valet?! Amazing! Free parking in a garage that is validated at the restaurant?! There is hardly such a thing like that where I’m from. Even while entering AF+B I felt a warm aura. There was great energy from the hostess that greeted us and the interior was rustic and homey without channeling a bearded hipster vibe. I wish I remembered our waiter’s name because he was so friendly and helpful with the menu. He was quick to check up on us while the remaining waitstaff made sure my water glass was always filled(I also drink TONS of water so they did an awesome job). For brunch we started off with the Gulf Blue Deviled Crabs at $ 7 each. Even though it’s the cheaper kind of crab, blue crabs are my favorite! The dish had the right amount of breading, just enough to get the crunch without drowning the crab meat. It came with the cutest little Tabasco bottle I have ever seen! Great presentation and taste! We also split the Fried Gulf Shrimp Boudin Balls which were crisp and soft, but I didn’t see any shrimp in there! It just tasted like deep fried rice balls and tartar sauce. The entrée is what really blew me away though. I am still dreaming about their Duck Pot Pie because it exceeded my expectations. The crust had a nice baked brown color and was deliciously flaky. The filling in most pot pies I have seen are heavy in the sauce with more vegetables than meat. This was the complete opposite! There was so much duck meat in there that every single bite I took had some meat in it. The filling was wonderfully thick and comforting like pot pies should be. I made sure to eat it slowly so I could savor each spoonful. The light salad was also great to nibble on in-between bites of hearty duck pieces. AF+B is definitely worth the drive out if you’re on the other side of the metroplex, especially when you need a change of scenery!
