I’ve been to the hoppy gnome a few times now & I must say it never disappoints. The atmosphere is lovely– open, bright & fun :) The food is awesome. My favorite was the whiskey pork belly with purple potatoes & a slaw. It was AMAZING! I’ve tried several of the tacos– all being tasty & I look forward to trying more. The dantes inferno was probably my fave… But I would’ve liked to see it offered with slaw on top– I’m a firm believer in some veggies with my tacos! I love the beer & wine flights that they offer– I wish more restaurants would follow their lead & offer choose your own flights. The beer selection is really amazing, the wine selection needs some improvements. They have a limited number of both reds & whites. But their Zinfandel is by far by favorite. Lastly get the smores. It’s fun to roast the marshmallows @ your table & the Grahams & chocolate is so yummy!

Excellent tacos, beer selection, and service. About a 5 minute walk from the Courtyard, well worth it. I definitely come back next time I am in town. Great job, you guys.

This is a fun place with great food and according to my husband, great beer. I’m a red wine drinker and I can vouch for the wine. We’ve gone several times and plan to go here as many times as we can even though we live 40 minutes away.

What a nice addition to downtown FW. I guess I am living in a cave because I didn’t realize this restaurant was owned by Baker Street. I love the fact that Hoppy Gnome is downtown, has a great menu, great craft beers and cocktails and is family friendly. We had wonderful service. Our server explained the menu to us, which I always appreciate when eating someplace new for the first time. We enjoyed the chips and guac/salsa as our appetizer. There was guac, traditional salsa and salsa verde. The verse was the best I have had and had a nice roasted smoky flavor. For my meal, I had the Mexican Dip. Our server told us they make the bread for the Tortas in house over a fire. It was soooo delish! The portion size was generous, as I was able to get two meals out of it. It came with a side of warm pork rinds and they were addictive. My husband had the short ribs and again, very good. They were prepared perfectly and were tender and lean. The drinks were great as well! We are excited to return.

Our adventurous friends invited us to try this out, and we all ended up liking this a lot. We took advantage of the nice weather and ate outside on their patio(nice deck furniture by the way) started with the Sope Carnitas and everyone at the table loved em(we split the last one into ¼’s) I had the Carne Asada, Pork Belly & Korean short rib, with the Korean short rib being my favorite, but each taco flavor was distinct and savory so I didn’t lose with any of my selections. We all had different beers, again nothing was less than good a pick but Grapefruit Radler was tastier than the others. Service people knowledgeable about the brews and food. Place was very clean. The only reason we left was because the wind kicked up. Definitely worth visiting again.

Great craft beer selection. Enjoyed the tacos, but wish the chicken on one of them was grilled instead of fried. Fantastic atmosphere, envision this being a future happy hour spot.

Don’t waste your time or money. It’s over priced, food is bland, rush you in and seat you & rush you out. Me and my wife went for date night. Spent 84 bucks, 6 drinks, 1 appetizer, and 3 tacos. Atmosphere was ok. Disappointed since the same owners of Baker Street are in charge of this establishment. Will not return.

I was very excited initially after hearing about this. I went with a bunch of my colleges for lunch. There were a ton of us and the staff was wonderful getting together a spot for use all to sit. I loved the first appetizer– a hummus like dish with chips? I love tacos and I can’t express for excited I was for them. I got the korean short rib, chicken la taqueria and the bob marley. They tasted terrible. I thought maybe it was the corn tortilla but I have never really disliked them before. My CEO was buying so I basically forced myself to choke down the tacos. They were so bad I wanted to gag. Gross tacos definitely not worth the $ 13 for 3. I would rather go to Taco bell. I gave them 3 stars because the dining area is very modern and inviting. Also the staff were very helpful and polite amongst the chaos of our large party of people. Cute place, fix the food!

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The décor is trendy. We walked in during dinner time and there was a wait but it moved along pretty quickly. We ordered 2 beers and 6 tacos. Of the 6 tacos there was 2 that were delicious, the mofongo taco was my choice and I forget the one my husband preferred. The other tacos we tried tasted worse with each bite. I really wanted to like this place and had many good points: the staff was all very friendly, a full wall of beer selections, I like the décor, love that it’s adding to the downtown development. Of all these good points, there was only one negative, which was the food… and that’s kind of the point of a restaurant. I really hope this place makes a comeback.

Love the feel the Hoppy Gnome brings to downtown Fort Wayne. Definitely a great addition to the one of kind eateries that currently are serving the downtown area. They have a fantastic menu which ranges from various tapas(the ceviche is my favorite), outstanding variety of tacos including duck, Korean short rib, and the flavors just keep hittin’ ya. Not to mention they probably have some of the best craft beers on tap in town and one of the largest IPA selections I have seen! Cool, laid back environment, only downside can be the parking/walking issue when there is bad weather.

A fun craft beer bar with decent food. I enjoy the Korean BBQ tacos, but the others I’ve tried are just okay. The beer choices are good.

I know lots of people have given this place a favorable review and while the view of the courthouse green is awesome and the beer selection is great, the food was less than stellar. The descriptions got the appetite going, and I thought the tacos would be good, but they weren’t what I was expecting given the price. I had 3 teens with me and they weren’t all that impressed either. I don’t regret going, but would not go back.

So from left to right we have duck confit, Korean bbq, and thee little pigs tacos! Man they had to throw me out of this place it was all amazing! Not only was the food great but the service was amazing! My drink was never empty but I never noticed the server fill it! This place is just what downtown needs!

Great atmosphere. Maybe not a typical experience for our first visit. We were seated 15 minutes after our reservation time. I ordered a bourbon and was told all they had was bourbon mixed drinks so I couldn’t get a straight bourbon. I drank half the bourbon mixed drink and then it was swiped off my table. I ordered an iced tea to replace it. It took 5 minutes to get to me. I wasn’t offered a refill until AFTER I asked for the bill. It took another 5 minutes to get the bill and then another 5 for her to pick up my card, then another 5 to get it back. I ordered the flour tacos and was brought corn. Now, they did bring me the flour ones and let me keep the corn ones too. She didn’t charge me for the corn ones, and was very apologetic for the mix up. We told them it was our anniversary and was offered a Happy Anniversary greeting by way of a note on our bill. They recovered ok… thus, not a typical first experience, but I will be back as the food is good and it is a fun atmosphere.

The beer choices are really unique they’re is a lot of different options and they create great flights. The co-owner was very engaging funny and entertaining. He had a great knowledge of the beer we tried and food pairings. The mac & cheese was on point. I didn’t eat it as it has chorizo in it and I’m vegetarian but my boyfriend loved it great flavor and presentation. I feel like this is a place you could go for great food, beer, and conversation. Also Santa showed up so 10 stars

First walking in I was very impressed with the décor. The atmosphere here is very cool and trendy. Much to my surprise after receiving the menu is that the Hoppy Gnome is a «Mexican» themed menu. Mexican? Ok, whatever I like Mexican food a lot so I’m down with a Brew Pub Mexican restaurant. Here is the problem. Price. 2 tacos $ 9.00. Chicken torta $ 9.00. App $ 9.00 glass of wine $ 12.00. I understand that this place is in the heart of downtown so prices will be high. That being said I know of three other places that I can get great tacos and torta for about $ 1.75 a taco equally as good. $ 6.00 torta equally as good as well. Oh and all three places are just right on the outskirts of downtown. This is probably a great place for people to come to after work and get a beer and have great service. If your looking to get great Mexican food, you can do better than here.

Finally made it a point to visit this new addition to the Fort’s ensemble of eateries– and man, am I glad I did! Since«The Gnome’s» opening, I’ve heard and read reviews ranging from horrible to excellent, and while I’m sure there’s validity to each experience, my own was, personally, in the category of excellent. I arrived around 1 pm and the lunch crowd was thin, so my bartender(I wish I remembered her name) was super friendly, engaging and fun to be around. I tried two different beers from the excellent and well-rounded list– Evil Czech VooDoo’s vanilla porter and Boulder Brewing’s milk chocolate shake porter. I also ordered the mahi mahi tacos as my meal. The beer and food paired well together and I was honestly surprised by how delicious the tacos were! amazing flavor. I paid $ 9 for the pair, which might be considered steep– but let’s face it, if you’re eating out at certain locales you –are– paying for experience, and this one was worth it. I’ll be back soon! the Hoppy Gnome was fun and high in quality on every point.

My husband and I were in town from Indy, and stopped to have lunch here. I’ve heard good things about the Hoppy Gnome from my culinary friends and figured I would finally try it out! We really liked the tacos! We had the 3 for $ 13, and shared the duck confit, mahi mahi, and the Bob Marley tacos… Yum! We also shared the make-your-own s’mores for dessert. Such a fun and yummy idea! We will be back for sure!

The Hoppy Gnome is very unique and creative, and brings a refreshing interpretation of the taco. I sampled the Korean Short rib, Duck Confit, and Three Little Pigs. My favorite would have to be the short rib… but all 3 were very good. Complemented with the sample 4 — 4 ounce local brewed beers, and friendly staff, made my date night a huge hit! I recommend you check it out!

Updated menu from last time, but the new mahi mahi tacos are awesome. Not traditional tacos, but they far from disappoint. Great selection of beers, and a contemporary décor makes for a fantastic lunch spot.

Sangria: awesome. Beer selections OK, could be a little broader. Tacos: Great. Huarache appetizer: OK. I think they could use some improvements in their flavor palate, but overall the food is pretty good(4⁄5). Great service, great atmosphere, kinda loud inside but the outdoor seating is nice, if not a little crowded. We’ll be back!

Had drinks, appetizers and dinner at the Hoppy Gnome on the patio. I had several different beers, the wife had the Sunset Sangria. We had the Ceviche Tuna it was excellent next was the Shrimp with fall vegetables again it was excellent. For dinner we spilt 3 tacos first was the 3 Little Pigs it was delicious next up is the Korean Short Rib loved it was my favorite. Then we had the Mahi Mahi taco which is not on the menu but was offered as a special… well there was nothing special about this taco you can get a fish taco this good at a lot of places. For dessert we got the Strawberry Shortcake to go there was nothing special about this dessert, actually I think I make a better version. Overall we loved the this restaurant great atmosphere, great beer and good food. I will definitely go back, I will be thinking about that Korean Short Rib Taco for days to come.

Visited last night, this place is a very welcomed addition to the Fort! VERY friendly and attentive service with a hip vibe. The atmosphere was urban ‘hipstery’ which was nice(BUT we sat outside and the brief time spent passing through the dining area inside was off-puttingly loud from the chatter among patrons). Ordered a couple of Flights of beer and the server was extremely helpful developing a enticing and individualized brew experience. Also split an order of 3 tacos that not only had chicken and tuna, both of which are staples for me. They also offered a Duck Confit option that was very tasty which was a welcomed surprise. I will definitely be headed back!

I went with a small group on a Thursday night. It was busy, but since it recently opened, I expected that. It was nice inside and I loved the patio. The sangria that I started with was delicious. I would definitely go back for the sangria alone! I had a vegan salad which was also good — nothing amazing. I ordered three different tacos — the Bob Marley, some kind of beef, and some kind of pork. Both meats were grisly and I didn’t enjoy either. The Bob Marley was okay, but I didn’t love it. Its ingredients were all prepared well — I just didn’t love the blend of tastes. We then had a strawberry shortcake for desert which was very disappointing. It was roughly 80% bland whipped cream, 20% stale vanilla wafers, and 20% strawberries. It felt like I had to dig through piles of bland whipped cream only to be disappointed by stale tasting wafers and subpar strawberries. Overall — I’d totally go back for Sangria, but have no desire to eat food there again.

Hoppy Gnome is exactly what downtown Fort Wayne needed. As a downtown lover and dweller, who doesn’t want tacos and beer 7 days a week? I love seeing another downtown restaurant opening their doors on a Sunday. The beer selection truly satisfies the craft beer junkie to the domestic dad. Tacos are phenomenal! Ingredients are unique and set the Hoppy Gnome apart from other taco joints. This is a must try and will definitely become a regular spot for many– whether they live downtown or 20 minutes away.
