Long wait times, over-hyped, the cook was smoking a cigarette while making my grinder. I’m not really sure what else you’re expecting me to say here? Grinder was good, but not the best by a long shot. Far as everyone saying try the sausage roll try the sausage roll, I seen the tiny sausage roll. I like big sausage rolls for my hard earned coin. Sausage rolls should be big not petite little things, this is Italian food suppose to be filling and bigger portions. Keep your petite appetizer sausage roll, I will go somewhere where they aren’t scared to pack it with meat and cheese and use a little material around it(dough) don’t want that dough to break you up Redwood inn.

Very much a dive. Sausage roll was good, but maybe overrated. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Solid wait staff, good music, and I’ll go back to try out the patio!

One of if not the best pizza and sausage rolls in town. Also I would recommend the chili.

Pizza was amazing! Garlic cheese bread was fantastic! Love the atmosphere. I have driven by 5 million times and am so glad we stopped. We will be back!

This is my boyfriend and I go to spot! The sausage roll is amazing — never disappoints! The secret sauce they make in house is amazing and goes great on everything. The wait staff is great, very warm and welcoming. The owner is always milling around and is always thrilled to see new faces and regulars. It’s a fun low key spot with great food and good company. The outdoor area is awesome as well. It has a great old time tavern feel. A solid go too! Redwood Inn never disappoints.

I lived in Fort Wayne for five years in the early 80s and found the Sausage rolls and pizzas at the Redwood Inn a staple. I really can’t count the times my fiancé(now my wife) ate there, both dining in and take-out. It was consistently terrific. The place was nothing fancy – dark wood paneling, low lights, a simple jukebox – old-school, even then, but the folks who ran it were nice and really knew their way around the kitchen. Everything was scratch made and simply delicious. It wasn’t always fast but was always worth any wait. A few years back, while traveling east from Illinois we decided to drive through Fort Wayne. We arrived at suppertime and, throwing caution to the wind, we decided to see if Redwood was still in business. We soon found ourselves at Redwood’s familiar back door. Walking in was like traveling through time. The place hadn’t noticeably changed. It even had some of the same songs on the jukebox. We ordered our usual – sausage rolls, and they were exactly like those we used to wolf down decades ago. I can’t exaggerate what a joy it was to go back after all these years and find it to be just as tasty as when we left. Since I left Fort Wayne, I’ve learned how to replace many of the things I enjoyed there – its Coney Island Hot Dogs, it breaded, deep fried Pork Tenderloins, even its local Mexican food choices, but I’ve never found, nor have I been able to duplicate Redwood Inn’s Sausage Rolls. They are truly one of a kind. I wish I were in Fort Wayne right now, because Redwood is where I’d be. If you’ve never experienced it, what’s stopping you?

I was here with a group of people last week and had a similar experience as my first review. The server was very good and had a great sense of humor. She kept drinks filled and was very responsive despite the fact that we had 8 people and were at a long table in a corner that made in difficult to maneuver around. The biggest knock on the new Redwood remains the food. Four people ordered the Greek salad. The ingredients were plentiful and fresh, but was virtually devoid of dressing. The server brought extra cups of dressing to the table which was good, but the dressing had very little flavor which made the salad a bit bland. The group also had three sausage rolls. One was cooked perfectly, one was under cooked, and the final one was slightly burned. The grinder was good, but one of the pieces was served with burnt bread which had to be torn off of the sandwich to eat. Amazingly we observed the owner sitting at tables visiting with customers and generally walking around chatting — which is good for business. BUT my suggestion is to spend some time in the kitchen and take a look at the food that is being served. If it doesn’t look good and/or is not up to standards DON’T SERVEIT! I think most foodies really want this place to succeed, but owner get thyself in the kitchen!
