FWDC is truly offering something different to the community. Unlike the glitzy conformity of the local commercial dance studios, and the high-minded technique of some of the nonprofit ballet schools, the Dance Collective has a focus on individual creative expression, dance as an art instead of a competitive commodity, and open inclusiveness. You can find things like taiko drumming, which is an amazing experience, Dances of Universal Peace, to bring your body in touch with your spiritual side, and any kind of modern you need. It never lost touch with its grassroots, and the organization is still run in a collective-style management, staying true to it’s «collective» designation. Check it out if you want an open and affirming atmosphere, a friendly and familial staff, and beautiful, urban brick-walled studios.
