Today, my sons and I browsed the selection at Barnes and Noble. They have an expansive store with any book imaginable. I liked the layout of the store. There are 2 main entrances. One located inside the mall and another exterior entrance that allows entry directly into the store. There are also 2 registers, each located at an entry door. The entrance closest to the exterior door is where you also find the cozy Starbucks café. The Starbucks offers the same menu items as most, with the exception of Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. I can attest that these said cheesecakes are absolutely delicious. What I really liked: books, books, and more books. The store is large and has such a large selection of books. Any genre of book can be easily located. They have signs located above the cases to let you know where each section is located. The seem to stock a fair number of all books in stock. What was ok: should you have a question, it’s best to ask the person located center store kiosk, as the clerks at each register are unable to assist, or so I was told. What if didn’t care for: we checked out at the rear entrance. The service clerk was less than pleasant, giving her the benefit of the doubt, today was hot and muggy and maybe she was ready to go home. Either way, honey attracts more bees than vinegar, meaning«stop being a complete sourpus on the job lady». I prefer a pleasant courteous shopping experience and this wasn’t awful, but left something to be desired. All in all, I’ll be back over and over again. The space is quiet and calming and just right if you want to find a book and take a seat to enjoy it for a moment.

Huge variety of books and great service. The Starbucks inside of Barnes and Noble was a great idea. The only complaint is that the prices are outrageous.

My mom, 6 year old cousin, and I went to Barnes and Noble today with the goal of getting my cousin a book. Everything was going great… until we got to the checkout. I asked the clerk, Debbie, about the kids club and she said I have to have a kid to earn the rewards. I asked if this applied for teachers as well. She then hesitantly told me about the teacher program. She implied several times that I was not a teacher and talked down to me. She told me that she would only take my school ID if it had a date on it. She said I couldn’t use the discount on romance books. She asked me what I taught. I told her I taught special education. She then said what grade. What does that matter? A teacher is a teacher. Debbie also said that I had to teach full time to get the discount. You can’t figure that out based on a check stub or ID! She was very rude and spoke down to me. I also did not appreciate her rude and pointed looks. I decided that I was getting the discount no matter what. I showed her my ID; she said it wouldn’t work because there wasn’t a date on it and«I’ve been doing this a long time and most IDs have dates». I then proceeded to pull up my check stub and fill out the application. She had an attitude as she figured out that I am a teacher and she had to give me the discount. She gave me my books without saying«have a good day», «thank you», or any other pleasantries. This is why Amazon and scholastic get the majority of my book business: customer service.

The young blonde barista at the starbucks in your store frequently makes the wrong drink and doesn’t know how to make proper change. When I ask for a refund, I get an angry glare and snide comment… Something typical of the most shallow and ungrateful high schooler. I’d be happy if I were her to have a job in this market.
