Comparing the geraniums to those at other nurseries, Roozen had the healthiest and finest looking of all. I purchased 3 flats and plant fertilizer. The service was top line and friendly. There was a nice selection of garden plants. When this bloody weather changes to that of a more reasonable state, I’ll return for more flowering plants for my gardens. I highly recommend Roozen.

I called because I had been to Home Depot, spent about 10 minutes on the phone being passed from department to department with Lowes and neither of them knew what I was talking about. I needed sulfur becuase I had just seen a bog snake in my backyard and frankly I didn’t want it coming back. They told me they had it and had it in stock. I went right over and sure enough they had it. The guy was knowledgeable about the material and what I needed it for without me saying anything, so I knew he knew his stuff. Aside from the freaky parrot that walked around freely and came in stood right in front of me and just starred me down as I moved, I have no issues with this place. I’d definitely go back as I know my landscaper gets some of his products from here.

Works for me. Went to get a few bags of fertilizer that I heard was the best out there(turf trust). I was met at the door by a very knowledgeable yard person instead of a teen waiting for time to pass so they can get off. I was also given good yard, application, watering advice concerning the fertilizer. In my opinion you get better service in the smaller stores than the big box…

If I were to rate selection of marine life I’d give it 5 stars but the stor lacks that new stuff feel of like a home depot. The staff is awesome. Great selection of gardening. I’ll see how my habenero seeds grow.

For a fun day shopping for saltwater fish, corals and inverts this is the spot. It’s in a greenhouse, with gravel and mud for a floor. There are 4LONG double sided aisles of tanks. I like this place because you never know what you might find. I have seen incredible things here, which I at times I question the morality of since they are often extremely challenging/impossible species to keep. I relent because it makes this place exciting. You wander the aisle searching into the tanks which are completely unlabeled and at times are totally shocked by what you find: Wonder Octopus, beautiful pink frogfish, ribbon eels, dragon eels, peacock mantis, leopard wrasse, harlequin tusk, all kinds of large angels, tiny panda gobies. I have seen things here I have only seen before on Discovery and I am a hard core Scuba diver. I almost always find something I have never seen before. This is the spot for wild specimens of fish, particularly large FOWLR species. Crazy crabs, shrimps and inverts of all kinds. I have purchased healthy flame angel, potters angel, blenny, and harlequin shrimp here. There are unhealthy, shipping shocked specimens here. You need to be able to tell the difference. I have seen some great pieces of coral here, but this is more a fish/invert place for me.(In general, IMO, captive bred coral is superior since it’s proven to survive in a captive setting.) Oh yes and nice live rock. Prices on fish, inverts and on dry goods are all much better than at the«squeaky clean» nouveau reef specialty stores. Minus one star because like other reviewers have said, the tanks are crazy, apitasia everywhere, dead stuff, and also they don’t always have the standard crap you expect to find — reef cleaner crabs/snails for example. My personal favorite store, because of the sheer insanity of the selection and the entertainment value, though it’s a bit of a relic.

This USED to be one of the BEST places for your Marine«Saltwater» Aquarium in the DC area! As the name implies, this is a garden center. They just happen to also sell fish, aquariums, and aquarium products catering to saltwater. They sell NO freshwater Fish at all. They do have beautiful Indo cured live rock from Fiji, Phillipines arriving weekly so you arent getting any junk LR. Their live rock is kept in large vats under natural lighting. I buy beautiful coraline laden rock from here. The Fish live stock here is ok. They do have good prices on most of the common fish and you may even find an odd ball or a hard to find fish. Be warned, their tanks arent clean @ all. Most of their coral tanks have Aiptasia growing in them and some tanks have been overun with Aiptasia. Although the prices on their corals are decent, it may have colonies of Aiptasia growing on it also. Due to a lack of good husbandry on their tanks, most of the tanks are starting to be over run with algae as well so buyer beware. They do have good deals on their Hardware, Tanks and Chemicals, so dont let my review disparage you from at least visiting as you may find a good deal on a few things… it is worth the visit in general! The Fish are are well taken care of and healthy. They dont have the common problems that you see at other stores(ick, etc) primarily because they FW dip everyday and they run a natural in ground water system. The fish room is outside in a plant house, so much of the lighting is natural. Prices on Fish are normally half of what you would pay elsewhere. I would give the store two and a half stars.

You wouldn’t expect this place to have an amazing selection of marine fish by looking at the outside of this place. There’s no sign or indication they sell anything but plants but wander through their maze of a facility and you will find an incredible selection of fresh and saltwater fish. While their aquarium setups aren’t anywhere near as clean as some of the other shops in the area, this place does carry a unique collection of marine life. I recommend anyone come and check this place out first hand and take a look at their nurse sharks while you are there. Great place!

Not the cleanest place out there and not the easiest place to find, but hands down the largest selction of saltwater/marine aquarium life in the area. The live rock is usually not cured, but if you’re starting a new tank that is half the fun. Be careful of the cured rock, because their systems are breeming with Aiptasia and bristleworms. Despite the filth, nusiance«critters», and drive, worth a trip just to look. Where else are you going to see a nautilus off Indian Head Highway? I think the actual plants might be pretty good, but vegetation is not really my thing.
